Yes but that is another modern colonization in Africa as you can see china invading markets in Africa on ground to the last consumer which looks like helping the low income earners but a great impact on the society as they will slowly over run all business and profits sent to china just like the mobile telecommunications came nonexistence. Just imagine Uganda post and telecom had all the facilities but it was only to upgrade and go mobile.

I do not even think Ugandans are aware of toxic products. They just look at one thing : price, however some products througt out the world have been found to have harmful chemicals in them due to the fact that they are cheaply made with harmful less expensive products and thus sold at a low price. Lets pray these ones are good.

@kaleeysmith8801. Not necessarily however, it has been proved that some manufacturers use cheap products to cub the cost of production regardless of the risk they may cause to the human life and In the end, these products are sold cheaply. It doesn't mean that expensive products cannot be harmful however, when someone buys an expensive prooduct, they are most likely to do some research about it before buying. That only puts the manufacturer/s in check if they want to stay in business. Other wise no one would be willing to pay more for something that is harmful.

We lost hospitality, customer care and sometimes we overprice (to test the clients with an intention of "earning more") but not every local business man is that greedy. The Chinese are "investors" selling what we already have - imported from their country and what hurts me is that they are exempted from taxes. Local business men pays heavy taxes for the same products and can't favorably compete yet they have to make ends meet. The best solution would be GENERALLY regulating the prices of goods and services (we have no standard price for services, goods and commodities in Uganda). There should be no price differentiation. Plus, reducing the taxes on imported goods instead of replacing our local vendors with foreigners could help. This china town with its manager, David Kabarage comes off to me as a politically motivated move. WHO IS THE REAL OWNER OF CHINA TOWN IN UGANDA? Sad.

No think if it was you shop's owners. Uganda does not produce but import products and this will cost high price for the shop owners hence price is high on products (+ there is tax and bill for shop expenses.).

You are a terrible guide or shopper. You spend most of the time looking at the cheap Chinese junk and trinkets, but almost no time amongst the big items like electronics or tools. All the brand names upstairs were definitely not just Chinese, but Korean and even German brands. You should pay closer attention to detail.
