How To Pass Your Physio Interview **POST COVID

  • Hey guys my name is Masud and in today’s video I’ll be talking about how you can pass your physio interview post covid 19.
This video will only apply to a level/college or school leavers who are planning to return to full time academia in the U.K.
Since I made my previous video a lot of things have changed particularly with the way we conduct in person meetings.
Because of this I am aware a lot of universities across the country have resulted to doing zoom interviews instead of in person.
Now personally I believe doing an interview over zoom is a lot easier compared to doing an in person meeting simply because you don’t have the added pressure of travelling to the uni on the day and performing in person.
The next thing I wanted to mention is that having a good understanding of the NHS constitution will definitely help you as pretty much all universities will need to see you fit the values through your behaviour as you will be doing your placements within the NHS and possibly working as a health professional in the NHS in the future.
The NHS constitution is a set of values and principles that care staff within the nhs weather that’s clinical or management hold themselves accountable to.
They are 6/7 values I believe of which I’ve left down below for your reference:
    1. WORKING TOGETHER for patients. Patients come first in everything we do
    2. RESPECT & DIGNITY. We value every person - whether patient, their families or carers, or staff - as an individual, respect their aspirations and commitments in life, and seek to understand their priorities, needs, abilities and limits
    3. COMMITMENT TO QUALITY OF CARE. We earn the trust placed in us by insisting on quality and striving to get the basics of quality of care - safety, effectiveness and patient experience right every time
    4. COMPASSION. We ensure that compassion is central to the care we provide and respond with humanity and kindness to each person’s pain, distress, anxiety or need
    5. IMPROVING LIVES. We strive to improve health and wellbeing and people’s experiences of the NHS
    6. EVERYONE COUNTS. We maximise our resources for the benefit of the whole community, and make sure nobody is excluded, discriminated against or left behind.
    Link to NHS constitution: www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/work...
The other thing I wanted to mention is that you should do your research on each specific university and see what makes them special.
Maybe it’s the location, staff in the department or just it’s a good fit for you as you love what the university offers in terms of student life.
Try to ask a few questions from your interviewer even if you know the answers as it shows you’re keen and would like to attend. They love that.
Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

@@timthekim1 Hey , so what they did with me was they sent out about 9 questions and I had to record them! So there was a few about your experience and what physio means to you. There was also some scenario questions. But one thing I would say is defo do your research. Especially on the CSP and some of their campaigns they are running. And also do your research about things such as diversity , inclusivity , a physios role and also about a multi disciplinary team! But other than that I’d say just be yourself and try to relax!! Good luck

I was just wondering it is okay to talk about previous experiences (not related to physiotherapy) during the interview if it isn't written on the personal statement. I haven't been able to get work experience this year and want to talk about other achievements but in my statement I wanted to show that I had an understanding of what physiotherapy is about meaning there was not enough space for some personal achievements?
hope this makes sense and thanks for the video!

No idea Sahil but that’s a good question. It depends from uni to uni and size of cohort I think.

Yes that’s fine, there’s no right/wrong answer. Read (on the particular university website) about how they teach their modules, they may have a special learning style that other universities don’t I.e PBL learning.
Check out my latest post on the community tab on my channel and you’ll see more info about PBL.
