I have over 200 rods, some customs that cost over $500. I have six or 7 uglies. My absolute favorite is my ugly stick Tiger light 7 ft 1 piece spinner rated for 40 lb line, with a custom handle, I stripped the foam neoprene off. Sanded the blank with fine sand paper, sprayed some clear, then used electrical tape to wrap it. Its amazing, small ,super powerful, sensitive , and gorgeous. Best rod I own. Caught 40 lb striper on it
I still use ugly sticks for my one experience reel (Shimano DC Baitcaster) because I just like the brand. I have other rod brands but ugly stick is the best in my opinion.
Ugly Sticks make the fish look ugly big cause they bend so much. NEVER bought one ever! Recipe for success: Tall rod with a backbone and cork handle, reel with high gear ratio and light, sensitive mono to a soft fluoro leader, joined by an Alberto Knot. I've mopped up fresh and salt fish this way!!! Im not hatin, but im not gonna be silent. Broski, back when these sub-par rods came out i was casting AllStar rods and Cuatom Lott Bros. Star Rods is a good throwback...
Ugly Stick is what my dad always bought. Hes from the east coast. I have a few vintage salt water n catfishing ugky stix. Get at me, trging to grt rid of
I sometimes use my $1400 Daiwa Saltiga Dogfight on my $65 Ugly stick. Works just fine. Has better feel and a action than some of my Loomis, lamiglas or st croix custom rods. What ever works
Now imagine if that was a tiny guppy 😂
The rod would snap with a guppy.. let’s not even mention a bluegill 😅
Nothing beats and ugly stick when it comes to being tough

Why i almost always use an uglystick, just better rods
Ugly sticks are hands down best bang for your buck. If you dont have a ton of money dont even bother with other brands.

What pound test were you using?
Oh my god look at tha- *rod snaps*
Damn, I can’t believe you had enough leverage to get a good hook set without a vertical presentation! Cool video!
You don’t really need to set the hook if it’s a circle hook you just have to apply pressure
It’s not the rod it’s the angler 👍
Good old ugly stik!! 💪🏻
Is that at Galveston?
What was the bait to catch that fish
Sickness!!!!!!
Give me the name of that rod so i can order it now lol
What reel?

How much gram is that rod
Is that Texas city?

What kind of reel did you use ?
literally it doesn't matter. Okuma, Penn, Daiwa, Shimano, or if you're poor KastKing all perform well
Tiger

Wow. How do you even get fish that big without casting a mile away
They swim up and down bulkheads like that so if you have the right bait you shouldn't have too much of a problem
I droned a whole sand trout 150yds out
Catching dead fish n making us stupid looking at this vudeo
