On many occasions listening to Bach Cantatas is delightful because the listener feels relax. These peaceful melodies propose for the listener "to ponder with silence bc it is the only one that answers the '?' of thoughts. Both are silent partners to the word."

I want to point everyone to the extraordinary 1st movement of cantata 88 at 42:45. The rippling first section is a balm of soothing lyricism! And this is a beautiful performance by bass Peter Harvey with stirring backup from Gardiner and the ensemble. After that movement, though, you might want to switch to th-cam.com/video/QgC0Zbc5-VQ/w-d-xo.html to hear a far superior tenor (Kurt Equiluz) sing the next two fine movements. (That performance, led by Leonhardt, also features a superb very warm 1st movement sung by Max von Egmond)
