Saw this on Broadway with Patti Lupone (the Goddess of the Stage!) and Mandy Patinkin the night they won the Outer Circle Critics' Award. I thought they were going to go out of control - oh, God, did they come close; but they never went over the edge. When Lupone came out on the balcony of the Casa Rosada, dressed in that sequined strapless gown, with her hair done up in that classic bun, and began to sing "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina," I think the couple of thousand of us in the theater flat forgot to breathe. Had someone dropped a pin, it would have been like a cannon shot. Utterly fabulous show; one of my supreme moments of musical theater. And this just brings it all back...
I can't imagine how much work and planning went into the selection and planning of the microphone placement. It would be nice to see the mixer board and get information on the operator - his/her musical experience.
At 7:11, I don’t know why but the orchestral rendition of “I’ll Be Surprisingly Good for You” just sounds like a Max Steiner-esque-Gone with the Wind-Casablanca love theme in that golden age majestic quality sound to it - like if we’re written in the 40s and Evita would’ve starred actresses of the 40s and handsome bodied-men like Errol Flynn or Tyonne Power (just people in the 40s can play or have faces like historical people at that time, not the actors I just mentioned). If there was ever a modernized movie based on the golden age of Hollywood that’ll have music be in the style of Steiner, Waxman, Alfred Newman, Korngold, Lloyd Webber would be you’re guy because he’s a melodist and the voice of these eras.

Fantastic performance and orchestration! How can this be free of charge to listen? to watch all marveleous job? TWe live now in a free music time...it s fantastic for public but is not good for the music performance profesion I think.
How come the whole video lost its natural color, misssing most green and blue tone. Sounds like it was a very old film from a very old VHS tape recording.
It is 2022, they forgot how to do any color balance in video. I also find it way to left-right spaced, Far from true listening in the room, But the art of recording is slowly dying.
In "my opinion" the orchestral arrangements are not that good. It sounds like a cheap recording pretending to sound impressive. It lacks passion. It only sounds big because of the large orchestra used. Sorry, nothing like for example the original white album which is the best. Now you can start bringing me down for not liking it.
The orchestra is not that large. The string sections are spaced covid apart, and take up as much space as they would with 3 times the players which the NY Phil would have.
