    It was a great help....i was so confused listening from some seniors where they directly mentioning spring semester as a bad choice bad move without proper explanation.

    I would like to list out the advantages since you've covered quite a lot of disadvantages:
    1. less competition for admits.
    2. spring semester is shorter, so you won't be overburdned with academics, settling in,etc
    3. two summer breaks (as rightly mentioned by you).
    4.could be a merit of smaller batch size (not sure though, @yudi can you confirm)

      Less competition is true but then there is less universities as well , not all universities do spring admissions.

    I can rant for hours about this.
    CPT eligibility issues for th summer. Tough time socializing, limited on campus job opportunities nd the list for on.

    Coming in Spring semester one disadvantage can be: on-campus jobs like TA, RA, etc. would not be available as it would be filled by Fall semester students. So what should be done?
    Any Solution for this @yudi ?

      You're assuming that only fall semester students have TA, RA jobs. The spring students before you will also have that job and when they graduate in spring, there will be vacancies.

    If one doesn't want to stay more than 3yrs after masters, then I guess spring is not much of an issue as few students do come for only study and an international work exposure

      From what I researched you can. You need to be eligible for them first. You can check eligibility on uni website. If you are eligible you just need to apply before coming. Spring or fall sem doesn’t matter

    Hi Yudi. What do you think about going for an internship in Spring semester. Do people going to internship in Spring semester only go for a bigger firm? What if they get a Co-op or internship but in a small firm. How should they take it?

    Thanks Yudi for this valuable information. Will keep this in mind. One doubt. If one interns during summer, is there a possibility of that getting converted to full time? If yes, then that experience too can be utilised while requesting for H1B sponsorship, isnt it?

    I have a question
    I have seen students coming in Fall semester and opting for co-op which makes the master duration to 2.5 years.
    So in that case, it's an disadvantage still students do that.
    Do you know the reason for this?

      It depends on your University, my University allowed me to take 12 credits per semester (not all do), so I finished faster

      You can do both! that way you are making an income and still taking 1-2 courses.

    I got an admit from UMBC but in MSIS , but am interested in computer science and now seeing the opportunity I couldn't deny the UMBC admit,
    NAU,FAU,WMU these three admits have yet to come.. so my doubt is whether choosing MSIS will be a mistake for my career ahead in the us ? i have a decent knowledge in coding and dev ops as am a 19 month experienced TCS fresher ...can I change my stream to CS after joining in MSIS in umbc ? can you please advice me anything that would be very helpful

    Can we do summer internship after completion of first semester (spring)?? Or we have to wait until to complete two semesters??

      No, after first sem in Spring, one is not eligible for a summer internship. After spending 9 months in USA, one is eligible for that. So, you would have to complete two semesters. Infact, it will be 3 semesters (Spring 23, Fall 23, Spring 24) and then the summer internship can be done in 2024.

    H1b visa sponsorship isn’t mentioned in job offers but hr has verbally committed it they gonna sponsor one before graduation as I will be joining in feb 2023 under full time cpt .and graduating in may 2023
    That way I will get 4 chances for H1b .
    Is this fine or should I stress upon puttin it in contract converted the internship to full time and rite now having part time with same company
    Plz advice
