Seriously…THANK YOU!!! true reason I have this channel is to have fun, hang out…and review some gear while we’re at it. I’ll keep it real, and don’t edit bloopers…they stay in!
I like the color of it, and the sound is very smooth and comforting. It's like my ears are sitting in front of a cozy log cabin fireplace on a winter day.
I love the bright, yet not overly sibilant sound, full of clarity while still being smooth! Not many mics offer that at this price point. Amazing review!
Comdenser mics can definitely make recording outdoor content difficult when you want clean and isolated sound! Definitely an indoor mic 👍🏻👍🏻Thanks for watching.
What do you recommend. The LCT 440 pure at $240 or rode nt1 signature series at $160 for a singer in untreated room? Thanks for this content. Great job
Most horrifying moments of my life….didnt even get to hear it for myself with headphones on before dropping like a bomb from AC-130 plane on a battlefield….😂🤣🤦🏻♂️😤
Oh I agree, it is thicker than most high end condensers, but with my voice being so thin, I complements my voice so well. As far as using it for vocals, when I use it for vocalists as a sound guy, it is a heavier sound out of the box, but it takes the least amount of time to eq for me from the get-go. Usually only takes me 5-6 minutes to be able to open it up with a brighter mix and then move on to the other vocalists and instruments. So for me, yes, thicker/warmer, but one of the easiest fro me to dial it in with an amazing mix. For people with a deep voice, I do go a different route though. Oddly enough, one of the vocalists at the church prefers the Ethos because of it really opens up the highs in his voice compared to Beta SM58's we use.
@@levelupwithmikenewman interesting; I’m inspired. I’ll take another crack with it at my next live sound gig. Right now it lives on a really loud Bassman cab in an iso-booth in the studio, which is my favorite application so far. Too thick close-up, but it sounds great about 2’ off the speaker 🤘
@@boonfire3714 here is an audio sample from a video promo I did for Earthworks of both the Ethos and SR117.th-cam.com/video/qvJrztKQO_A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZO54JAjuqPsqgqez I was so shocked how the Ethos just opened up the top end…that’s the only mic the vocalist uses for his studio recordings now. Lol 😂
Great to see you struggling to not rate it higher than your favorites. Seems like it makes a great sound. Could the extra excitement be because your Mrs hasn't seen the receipt yet. 😂❤
It's a little scary to hang this guy upside down, mine fell out once and I've always been sure to crank that thing down like crazy afterwards, sometimes I feel like my recording sound kind of bright other times they don't that's one thing I've never been able to figure out about that microphone is some recording is a very bright some sound not bright at all on my 440 which always confused me
Dude, that’s fascinating. I large diaphragm capsule that has a mind of its own!! Honestly, that would drive me mad. Lol. Especially for voice over work for my video projects that span a few weeks. 😳
What's the best condenser i could get under 300? Not too harsh, not too sibilance. With presence and low end. I have a shure sm7b but I'm tired of the muddy dark hissy.
To me - the LCT440, LCT 240 pro, or the Rode NT1 5th Gen or 4th Gen are the cream of the crop under $300, and I would put the LCT 440 pure at the top….IMO.
mics and guitar are items that i can use the word SEXY on it... i dont know why, and maybe is weird uncle word, but i can know when a guitar is sexy, and this mic is!!!
I just loaned my Ethos out to a friend recording vocal tracks for a song he’s working on. Almost ready to let him borrow this too just to hear this on this tracks for his acoustic and electric guitar tracks.
That mic drop and the reaction that followed cracked me up like crazy. Hahaha Dude, you're great at presentation and naturally entertaining. 😅

Yeah! I think the price I paid for this clean of a sound is what excites me the most about this mic.
It’s very impressive! Enticingly so! I was even impressed with the Maono! Great video Mike! Love your videos!
Thanks a ton! You da man brother!!!
Oh man, I was trying to find a comparison between rode nt1 ss and lct 440 pure in 1 vid.... Good thing I saw this video.. SUBSCRIBED
Thank you!!! Im thankful for your kind words! Welcome to the Level Up family!!!!
They're all great, even the Maono. For me personally it's heartening to conclude that the Ethos still comes out on top.
What is crazy is how nervous I got, I just don’t want to live in a world where my Ethos isn’t my favorite mic in “the family” lol
@@levelupwithmikenewmanThat’s funny. Well at least we both want to live in the same world.
I agree with you, the Ethos still has the advantage. It is now my daily driver for my radio show.
@@TonyStuart-j2w thank you 🙏🏻 The LCT440 Pure is so well rounded, bright AND warm, not muddy at all.
I love it but I love more if I have a good mic for outdoors.

I prefer the LCT440 pure myself.

Priceless hahaha!
You like the sr117? I don’t mind mine, but I usually struggle with it being way too chunky and thick in the lows

I don't know if it's me, but the lewitt made the se sound harsh. Almost artificial. It honestly made me not like the se as much.
