Hi, I have 2pcs speakers I could imagine getting repaired. M Audio M3-8. Studio monitors. They both began to 'drop' more and more the roof. First, the bass was slightly reproduced, then treble and the whole sound. The bass became weaker and weaker on both first. So the treble. The right has "given up" completely. Both on bass and treble. It wants to reproduce but does not manage. Left plays with 50% reduced energy and power and is perceived as weak. The right gave up more and no play, it makes soft doubles when it is quiet and tries to reproduce sound, but it gets soft smells, scratches, sounds will pass but does not appear, just as some hold back. It "is not allowed" to play properly. Both speakers have been standing still in the same place in the studio for 5 years now, played with moderate volume. But the energy began to fall right after the warranty. There has been talk of this being a trend in M Audio with certain models. Bad / wrong capacitors, wrong fuses. They need some love and switched to better quality capacitors?
Bad support & deceptive business practises. This is why you buy from a reputable company. I'd recommend installing any sort of third party tweeter, it'd probably sound better. The bezel with snapped off pins will probably be ABS or PA6 nylon, and should have a visible marking somewhere, so have a look for the markings and use a glue appropriate for that. There are many types of super glue, and not all are brittle. I wouldn't hesitate to use a good sticky version of CA glue such as loctite all-plastic for any sort of plastic rework.
hi my friend, greettins from colombia. i have a question for you: i have the bx5a m-audio speakers, my twetters is history so... i need replacement whit a new options or new tewtter. what is the specifications? 4 or 8 omhs? i can choose thats options and, i don´t now what is my best option for my speakers? can you help me to choose? thanks
I'm pretty fed up with M-Audio studio monitors. In fact I will not consider owning another one unless it comes to me free for whatever reason. Replacing the capacitors... It isn't that difficult to do the rework. What pissed me off was the company "could" have sent all registered users a small box with 4 new capacitors and a fucking apology with a gift card for a set of guitar strings or a cable or something to compensate the entire group of people that had those pieces of shit sitting on a shelf as paper weights. I repaired mine, then one of the tweeters failed. The price for a new one, if you can actually locate one is close to 60.00 when you add the tax and get screwed on the shipping of something about the size of a hard boiled egg. To hear the guy in the video mention that he was told basically "we don't guarantee anything" ?? Yeah!! We already found that out years ago when the caps were shit. They lost me as a customer for what probably was well under 20.00 to make me feel better about handing over my money for new monitors only to have to take a day out of my schedule to become an electronics repairman. No User Serviceable Parts Inside. DO NOT OPEN. Well.. you can open it if you want them to actually work as we advertised they would. But we aren't responsible if anything goes wrong. That's just how they choose to do business. I suggest you only pick up M-Audio equipment from the used market. After it's a few years old.
