I talked to several independent truckers. I've had two in the family. All said they had a hard time making a living wage after expenses. Most live and many cook in their sleeper cabs, a crappy mundane life, not at all like the adventures of Smoky and the Bandit.
There should have been an industry group or government agency screaming the sky is falling years ago, before the sky fell. This will become much worse without bold and extreme action and cooperation. At this point I only see one solution, and it would be a cure worse than the problem: A national effort to tell everyone in the US to severely minimize all but the most essential purchases. The second step is to have Congress pass a massive spending bill and use eminent domain crafted to minimize delay tactics and prioritize getting money out and land for ports to expand or new facilities added. This would also include the water side dredging and work necessary to bring the ports online. Rail and Interstate spurs need to be brought into the ports. Right now not a single US port can accept the biggest ships. That needs to change. We need to slow the demand for inbound traffic and increase port capacity substantially before allowing normal consumer spending to return. It has been known for decades that we were importing everything. The concept of the container and the movement of containers was created in the US. This should have been known and dealt with long ago. Now we are in a position that fixing the problem is not a realistic option. All of these ships stuck in the US loop are also reducing capacity for the rest of the world. The consequences have barely started to appear.
Mclean must be unhappy in heaven to see his "invention" simply could not be implemented in his own country! I believe most of the container are railed to the inland States of US. Why is warehousing become an issue here? In ASEAN, delivery more than 3/4 days already mean unnecessary charges, imagine it seems it takes 9 days to deliver at the West Coast ports! The extra costs generated at these US ports will finally make the shipping lines to recover their losses from the rest of the world! And Asian governments should take note of this!

I don’t think that’s the reason dude. Low wages is not due to taxation, corporate profits aren’t going through a recession. Even during good times, wage growth lags inflation
If company's were willing to adjust their profit margins then perhaps they could pay enough and provide the benefits to get the numbers to where things can actually operate with efficiency. Unfortunately the relentlessly higher targets that all corporations use to measure year on year performance means this is not going to happen. Disappointingly this video had no real solutions as well

At this point I only see one solution, and it would be a cure worse than the problem:
A national effort to tell everyone in the US to severely minimize all but the most essential purchases.
Dont the items in those containers suffer from exposure to heat, humidity, cold or weight stacked?
Maybe that’s the idea 💡
They allready said why.
Its about compliance.
Pay them better and people will want to work them jobs. If not business goes bust and they lose out in the long run
It doesn’t help that our President can’t complete a full sentence lol 😂
I guess you, Twig, are a supporter of the traitor of the USA on Jan.6; Trump committed treason and you don’t care???????
@@sandyleonard4780 lmao, nope I’m just a college kid who wants to have a bright future. It’s sad seeing Biden sleep on stage.
He tries... dosnt always work, but he slurs something out.
@@theglowingrectangle4175 he is basically an elderly Ron Burgundy
So-called experts say 2023. Not. Talk to somebody that actually works in the industry. Any backlog to 2023. Would be intentional market manipulation.
I have a crazy idea! Why don't they use other ports in West coast?
There are only 9 container ports on the west coast and last I checked there were all at or over capacity
Buy American stock American build like brewbilt , we are punishing ourselves for not choosing quality over price and U.S. made
Well when u pay ppl to not work, impose all kinds of mandates and regulations on them and ban owner operators..... 🙄
Where is the department of transportation? On mr. Mom..still leave on paternity leave?
Mclean must be unhappy in heaven to see his "invention" simply could not be implemented in his own country! I believe most of the container are railed to the inland States of US. Why is warehousing become an issue here? In ASEAN, delivery more than 3/4 days already mean unnecessary charges, imagine it seems it takes 9 days to deliver at the West Coast ports! The extra costs generated at these US ports will finally make the shipping lines to recover their losses from the rest of the world! And Asian governments should take note of this!
Luckily theres still plenty of bloke on bloke action at the all male brothel
Joe Biden fixing supply issue thank you Mr president
Fining companies 100$ per day per container that sits at docks over the 24 hour mark
Stores are getting product now or companies face big fines
Nice to see a president actually do something
THANK YOU PRESIDENT BIDEN 🙏 ❤ 🙌 💙
Getting gas down by releasing our reserves
Making companies deliver product instead of intentionally leaving it on docks to drive up prices
Haaaaahaaaaaaa Biden is the issue. Who the hell do you think the company’s will charge when they get the $100 fine. You fool. Biden is going to cause a bigger issue if he makes the driver get the vaxx. Biden celebrating a .02 gas drop. What a joke Let’s go Brandon
Great Reset Business.
Ahhh so it's Cali. Geez will they just fall off already.
You don't wanna know how much money that is, just waiting xd
First I've heard of it
This port causing a supply chain crisis
Shut all the pipelines down.
Each day is charged a charter rate. Invest in shipping 🚢...
Nfa
Bring in foreigners they want to work
Look, lady. It means what it is not what a stranger says it means.
Shut all the trucks down.
That's what happen when the government is taxing the heck out of the factory it cost the factory to cut down on paying the workers decent salary n benefits so what the factory does run over seas than we pay more for the goods does that make sense .
I don’t think that’s the reason dude. Low wages is not due to taxation, corporate profits aren’t going through a recession. Even during good times, wage growth lags inflation
There not telling you that with COVID shut downs and natural diesasaters many of these containers no longer have a destination.
Im not too far away from Fort Wayne, Indiana- :)
If company's were willing to adjust their profit margins then perhaps they could pay enough and provide the benefits to get the numbers to where things can actually operate with efficiency. Unfortunately the relentlessly higher targets that all corporations use to measure year on year performance means this is not going to happen. Disappointingly this video had no real solutions as well
Oh yeah this works for the inflation deal hold all the products offshore while the demand is grows and prices rise and inflation gets worse than an earthquake or something wipes out all those packages on the coast yeah
That’s what you think
It's not that hard to solve this problem 😂🤣🤣
Do the Long Shore men get any overtime? Are Americans on a high ordering stuff from China? I guess its too expensive to make stuff yourself in the West..
Why work when you can get free money from the government….
Anyone working in port?
IMO, this presentation is politicized. Main issue is the thousands of empties at LA/LB. Now that Christmas has passed, halt unloading of vessels and clear out containers - especially empties. Very little to do with trucker shortages. Current administration has done little except focus on COVID and mandates.
In my opinion
Why is chinah building unloading docks all over the world????
Very pointless a lot of warehouses are not open 247
The solution to congested ports is to build a railroad from China to North America!
It all feels like Idiocracy movie especially with the pop sounds every time a new idiot is born
I bet there are a ton of them there graphics cards in those containers too!! Nvidia and AMD been sold out for months
Evergiven but worse
Take a look in Rotterdam how they solved the same problem
The real problem is the paperwork game at the point where it's doing that. There is no truck shortage There is no worker shortage This is all being manufactured by the democrats and the unions that control the ports they wanna to drive up the cost so they can push driveless trucks Is they're pushing to eliminate jobs I suggest stop using South check outs or places where have places where you automated ordering devices don't use those You're pushing for more automation which is bad Which is killing jobs And it doesn't help when States start mandating tolls for trucks that haul over 80000 pounds Get charged by the mile they drive-in the state Patrol increase cost of goods This was all planned by the democrats socialist the green party democrats liberals Feminist Moderate And other people tied to these groups This is just another place that they can make us a one world nation Whether United Nations dictates whatever what everything that everyone can do Our freedoms are under attack Hair pretty soon you will no longer be free In the Constitution for which we stand for will no longer be Cause they're gonna put it through the shredder Sad but true.
Man, that is one stupid post. Here's a clue for you. Driverless trucks don't pay union dues.
This is the end of capitalism
Certified Gold!!!!!🤨
No one has thus problem only USA
Shut the white House down.
Of the pages of the hand book
More than just that port to go to on the west coast but its all politics.
