Great lighting! I used to live up over 9000' in the mountains working for an observatory. Also EMT on the fire department and on the SAR team. Kept all heavy equipment plugged in all the time to engine warmers and battery float chargers. Did the same on my personal 4x4. There's nothing like having to go out into a blizzard to plow the road or do a rescue call and you can get into a vehicle that starts instantly and warms up rapidly! Keeping batteries topped off with a smart float charger and a little heat in the oil pan went a long way to easing those ice covered mornings. Also kept cold start fluid and wire drying spray handy for those problems. Was quite common to find folks with vehicles that needed a jump, a spray of starting fluid or their ignition got wet and wouldn't spark reliably.
I am 71 and live in an area of Australia where it gets below freezing very often in winter. I remember the skills of balancing choke settings, how many pumps on the accelerator etc and hoping the motor would fire or fail and flatten the battery. I sometimes think that learning how to start the car was harder than the driving test to get a license.
Nice and bright, 😂 certainly shouldn't have trouble seeing with those and the other two on the back it'll be like a Christmas tree, 😂 thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
I would go with the white lights. Because I think the other color would be harder for you to see at night. Plus, everyone else who has lights on something has white out front to show their direction of travel. 23:05
I love when you work on a snowcat it's one of the coolest things I've seen out there. Just want to throw this in your ear are you going to be part of the Matt's off-road competition if so if not all the contestants are filled I have a suggestion for a Shawn the TH-cam channel is corporal corner he is a ex-marine that teaches people how to survive in the woods add a little bit more than that as well .
It's surprising the wrecker didn't fire right up with the sniper on it. Yeah those lights are super bright and the yellow covers look pretty cool on the snow cat. Did you say 6:00 est for live?
The Wrecker seems to be more Cold Natured than before it was swapped to the Sniper Injection. I think you need a little bit more snow, for the Sno-Cat to ride smoother! Wow, those LED's are bright! You could send signals to the International Space Station!
@ didn't seem to help any. It still needs a block tank heater. Keep it plugged in. I know I don't live too far from there or keep them inside. I think that's his plan.
Old dodge motors flood super easy. Give it a couple of attempts to start, then turn the choke off and foot to the floor until it coughs. Works every time.
I have those same Edge 6's... phenomenal output... But, you might wanna rethink the upside down position... the reflector optics aren't gonna work right that way. The low beam are very impressive for their peripheral side illumination... the high beams are your long distance lights... upside down is gonna point the reflector lenses the wrong direction to work as intended. *important note* it's a good idea to buy the HF wire harness for these, it's worth it... If someone decides to wire it themselves, Despite being LED, they do draw a decent amperage so gotta use heavy enough wire . Most importantly... * Low beam & High beam each have their own trigger wire (pos) If you wire it yourself be careful... *YOU CAN ONLY POWER ONE TRIGGER WIRE AT A TIME!!* you can't have low beam on... then just add another switch to power the high beam... YOU'LL DAMAGE THE LIGHTS. Only power One or the other.... The wire kit they sell is well worth it & makes install easy. Surprisingly high quality lights. Even the boxes they come in feel quality.
I'd run dual extension cords outside for both of those machines coming off of A three extension cord adapter plug-in splitter that plugs into the wall.,or three pronged extension cords.
@@kc6nfv746 I have a 100w greenhouse strip heater in my boat, to prevent condensation during the colder months. I reckon the same thing would work wonders in keeping those batteries performing up to snuff in the morning. Cold lead acid batteries in freezing weather are nobody's idea of heaven. Call me crazy, but might some thermal insulation, keeping off the chill, around those battery boxes also be in order?
When I do wiring connections, repair wiring, whatever I always put a piece of shrink wrap up away from the solder joint and then after I’ve soldered it, I cleaned the solder joint and all about an inch and a half past each end of the soldering work and then I put some high temp silicone on the Soldering joint or soldered joint. I’m not good at articulating anyway and then I bring the heat shrink down and shrink it down and I can tell you right now. I have never had a corrosion problem with my soldering anyways this is six in a row.Jim from Kennerdell pa
You can buy glue lined heatshrink, that way you don't need to use RTV. :) That's a good way of doing it though and I've used RTV to seal the ends of oversized heatshrink before.
Time for a by-the-book tune up? It was what, about 0 that morning? Those rigs would start at minus 30 when new, and they still should! Of course, it could be that you still have summer blend fuel in the tanks.
Just watched Eric being rattled to bits in the Snowcat. That surely can't be so much fun after the first minute. I'm wondering, from over here in Scotland, if there is a reason why there are no springs or dampers on that vehicle? I watched Casey LaDelle yesterday in his tracked jeep, running as smooth as you like. It strikes me that there's no good reason not to smooth out your ride too, just taking parts out of the boneyard, now that you've got that smart Challenger lift to do the heavy lifting for you. Or am I missing something, is the boneshaker ride a must have desirable attribute? Btw I'm appreciating your 'warts n all' content. I'd prefer it if you'd keep things this way. Just saying 😉👍
Awesome lights. Are the 4" for back lights? I suggest "Pumpkin" as the Sno-Cat's name. The color, and Not so smooth rolling made that an obvious choice.
poor wrecker, must have taken off the carburetor and put some electronic junk on. lol some of the injection stuff will go heavy enrichment mode if you very slightly press the throttle just before cranking. some older factory stuff would spray fuel or go to rich mode if you had key on no crank and pressed the pedal clear to the floor and released it (one or three times, it varied). the most reliable things I ever drove were carbureted, of course I kept them in top shape, but let them sit weeks to montha in hot or freezing weather and they just needed a bit more cranking to get fuel back in the bowl/s. auto choke, manual choke, no difference.
most garage door opener will stop part way up, if you hit the button again while opening. you can keep a bit more heat in if you stop them part way up. seeing their large tall doors/ceilings. while closing, when you hit the button they reverse and go back up. safety sally junk. 🤣
I have watched your show and every episode for a good period of time and every time I see the Jeep I have to ask are going to get it running? I just love that era of the Jeep.
You better call a tow truck. What would you do if you lived in Canada I know it’s not very cold where you are right now and it -20°C my stuff starts and it isn’t plugged in.
😂😂😂 that wrecker is becoming a big pile of junk. You put efi on other and it won't even cold start. It's bearly the beginning of winter and not that cold yet. As for the smow cat, I'd expect nothing less form a dodge. That don't run on a good day
Get your gear at goatstrail.com/collections/bsf-recovery-team-apparel
You make a lot of people jealous with that much open shop floor space.❤
The Snocat needs an air-ride seat.
The new lights on the Snow Cat is going to be awesome in the dark hours of winter snow moving!!
When the wrecker said
"Rah wah wuh wuh, rah wah wuh wuh"... I felt that
I like hearing the Michael Jackson dance with your foot on the pedal lol
@jabaniz every squarebody driver is a professional MJ backup dancer

Now that you are getting the snow cat ready, it'll never snow again.
And, I'm fine with that!
Cold weather makes everything more interesting
I can't wait to see you driving the snow cat with Mara in Blondie and Abby in the wrecker. All at the same event. 5:12
Where is the 2x4’s under the tracks .
You kept it up on wood last time
Those are some meaty cleats on the snow cat. Glad to see you adding things to it. I bet your pup would like a ride on it.
Those are really nice lights Eric, hope to see The Snow Cat do some recoveries this year. At least one lol. Thanks for the video Eric. 👋

That's definitely a cold stat if I ever have seen one.
Be safe
Be well
27°F up here in the first 13
Eric, That Snowcat Looks Mean Now. God Bless
A lot quieter in the shop today those lights are bright
When you start the snowcat, you know the swimming season is over and time to get out the snow shoes.
I would go with the white lights. Because I think the other color would be harder for you to see at night. Plus, everyone else who has lights on something has white out front to show their direction of travel. 23:05
The amber covers show better contrast in the snow. Always used amber goggles when sking & snowmobiling.
Winter is here. Plug them in and stay warm. Great job guys. Thank you 😊
Man -55c and i don't plug stuff in.
those look like pretty good quality lights great video look forward to live show

I can't wait til Robby Layton paints the jeep truck,
It's going to better than the Golden Nugget.

6:00 pm Central time
@offroadrecoveryteam thanks
You want to be running the yellow lenses in snow. It really does work to reduce the glare.
Reminds me of myself, more projects than money and time. I feel your pain!

I have to agree. Personally I could live and work in your.😊 God Bless and Merry Christmas 🎄
Well, I just looked, St. Croix Falls. It's only 17°. Yeah, you better keep them plugged in to the old block heater, old school carburetors.
The wrecker is fuel injected

good off road lights
I'd run dual extension cords outside for both of those machines coming off of A three extension cord adapter plug-in splitter that plugs into the wall.,or three pronged extension cords.
Another idea for you. Maybe some spray foam on the inside the cab to keep the heat in for the winter. Always good to be warmer than colder.
Just A quick and dirty and fast heads up to on it is all man. Cause the weather is going to get even colder as winter sets in this year for sure to.
I had to pause the video to go do maintenance on my snowblower. Haha
Put a 150 watt mechanic light under the Hood by the radiator the type of light that gets hot L E D don't get Hot it keep things dryer under the hood

On those Chevy trucks you half to pump the pedal sometimes in the colder temperatures outside during the winter months.

Eric's off road and tanning salon 😂
We enjoy watching your videos! tks❤
Headlights look great !
cool! keep the clips coming
It's snowing snowcats and cute doggies 🐕 😂
You should build a fold down step to get into the truck
I don't like starting in cold weather either, let alone my vehicles. 🤪
I believe you need a air ride seat for the snow wrecker
those lights are gonna melt the snow 🤣
Him pumping the gas i know he pissed 😂the wrecker it was something simple 😂

The BSF wrecker has seen some serious shit - should be in a museum - time to build a new one! better to have 2?
Thats why there building Blondi
Awesome 👌 👏 👍
does the snipper have some sorts of a choke system for cold days ?
nice
Chilly Willy
Hello love The Cold Star 🥶💯🥶💯🥶💯🥶💯🥶💯🥶💯🥶💯🥶💯🥶💯🥶💯🥶💯🥶💯🥶💯🥶💯🥶💯💯🥶
Am honestly really worried the snowcat fuel tank is not large enough for the amount of work it will be doing when in use.

No blocking on the floor hard on the concrete?
Gday guys
What are you going to do ,when it gets real cold
I absolutely love my yellow lights. They are a lot easier on my eyes at night and the fog
Hey Eric, whatcha doin with the ol Red CJ2A ?
Hopefully a future project. 🙏
Casey.
p.s. love the channel
Does the snowcat have heat
Snowcat needs EFI...👍
I have watched your show and every episode for a good period of time and every time I see the Jeep I have to ask are going to get it running?
I just love that era of the Jeep.
Looks like you’re gonna need an air ride seat Eric to smooth out your ride. Or you’re going to wind up with a sore back.
Now all you need is a old school rotator beacon
You better call a tow truck. What would you do if you lived in Canada I know it’s not very cold where you are right now and it -20°C my stuff starts and it isn’t plugged in.
You better pack it in and go to Florida for the winter as your junk is not going to start this winter
I have bowling league then :(
👍👍
HELLO FROM SOUTHWEST UTAH. GOD BLESS, STAY SAFE.
I’m from North Dakota and just hearing the sound of doors in the cold makes me cringe
You must have water in your fuel.
I like your videos it’s too short
You need fuel injection

Put a fire under it might as well going to break a starter or battery going to get worn out.. Good show💯💪✌️
