Their beaks are strong enough to crack open the hardest of nuts, some of which are twice as strong as your skull. So in theory, if the beak was twice the size...
Where I live there's literally hundreds of them in the warmer months that flock around our neighbourhood, we live In the country and they are always on the power lines or our back fence. We also have pink and grey gallahs as well. They are great for pets, as they talk well.
This is my all time favorite bird. I met one when at the bird store in Dayton OH when I was looking for my own potential feather baby. He was the owners' bird and he was the absolute sweetest most gentle boy ive ever met. Even before I saw him, I had seen pics of Black Palms before and thought they were absolutely gorgeous and majestic and hard-core and everything I love in in the world, but when I got to meet one in person and he was one of the coolest souls I've ever met in my life bird or human, I was sold after that. Idk if I would ever want to own one because its basically a lifetime commitment and my health isn't great but I just adore them. I mean cmon....headbanging to the B52s and tapping his foot to the beat. You'd be crazy not to love that!!!!

I am absolutely in love with this bird! I would give my eye teeth for one. Such gorgeous, regal looking bird. And it's obvious this bird is well taken care of and pretty much free to roam around his domain. Not cruel in my opinion...
