    The new XGT line really is the coolest looking line. I love the blacked out subcompact line a lot. Who doesn't love some badass, all black power tools? But the XGT just look tough. All the subtle little details and angles and lines... Eye candy for the construction types. Oh, and they work good too. 😁

    Speakers usually need a "burn in" before they really sound as loud as they will do... Essentially the rubber/diaphragm needs to wear in a bit and not be so firm

      For anyone who sees this I just want you to know that break-in time is pretty much a myth, I say pretty much as large diameter speakers with thicker surrounds do actually perform better with some run time, that amount of time being minutes. So if anyone tries to sell you a speaker with the promise that they sound better when you break them in for a while (usually after the return period), don’t believe them, it’s not true, what happens is your ears just adjust to the frequency response.

    • @nandos1111
      @nandos1111 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@grantdavid9466 that is absolutely false, anything mechanical has an amount of "break in" essentially a working tolerance. Vehicles have it, electronics have break in, speakers have break in.
      The crossover has break in (capacitors) the speaker diaphragm has break in (the rubbers, coils) .
      You do not know what your talking about

    • @grantdavid9466
      @grantdavid9466 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nandos1111 Bold of you to assume I don’t know what I’m talking about, when you’re saying capacitors have a “break in” period. Do you also think high end cables from the likes of Audio Quest make a difference? Also, I never said they don’t have a “break in” period, I only said it doesn’t takes any more than even a few minutes at the longest for that to occur.
      I’ve been into home audio and HiFi for over a decade and it’s one of my passions in life. During that time I learned and continue to learn the science, along with what to disregard as myths and pseudoscience. Both Gene DellaSala from Audioholics, and Amir from Audio Science Review, along with their cohorts, have thoroughly debunked the myths and thoughts in relation to your audio and electronics related comment. I must add, the vehicle comparison was just plain ignorant due to its complete irrelevancy to the topic at hand. If you’d like we can get into the nitty gritty about all of it, I’d have no problem debating the topic with you.

    The weird runtime difference between voltages is probably because the radio is running at 12v internally, for the higher voltage batteries it has to convert the voltage down which isn't 100% efficient

    I love my 18V Makita radio but these days I use my Hikoki 18V radio the most, because it not only has AM/FM and Bluetooth, but it also has the far more superior DAB. (The Hikoki radio was a free gift with the purchase of the Hikoki 12 inch table saw). For some strange reason Makita won't combine all those features in one radio. Makita DAB radio's don't have AM and the AM radios don't have DAB. These days my Makita radio sits next to the small TV screen that I have in the Man Cave. I channel the TV audio through it to watch the NRL. It sounds much better and adds a better sounding environment. Especially each time the Wallabies defeat the All Blacks to win the Bledisloe Cup. 😁 🍺🍺🍺

    It's probably bucking the 18v and 36v down to ~12v, causing losses in runtime for the higher voltage batteries. Very disappointing that they didn't extend the case by a few MM either in depth or height giving the opportunity to chuck the larger batteries in there, and does give a lot of credence to the F style labeling. Should be more prominent on the casement if this was their long term plan, or "high-output" plan otherwise.

      I may have to treat myself to a DMR115 (U.K.), DAB+, a subwoofer, and bluetooth. I can't be cheesed with Makita for long.

      I guess makita considers that you won't need to use this huge exoensive battery with the radio and you should use it with circular saw or something powerful, but anyway it's surprising)

      What exactly does Makita have against larger LXT batteries? They effectively threw their hands up and said they can't make them larger than 6.0 despite numerous competitors having much larger sizes/runtimes. They can't be THAT hard to manufacture.

      @@greenskiis 6.0 is the biggest that will fit in many of their tools. Can’t cram in more Ah’s without adding a row of 18650s or moving to 21700s.
