Both Metro and Deftones posted on Instagram at 10 AM, an hour of the ticket sales at 11 AM and if you were subscribed to the Metro newsletter, it was also sent out at 10 AM. I only found out at 10:30 AM and the ticket were on sale at 11 AM. It took me 50 minutes to check out my ticket.
Last night (August 1st), Deftones played an intimate show at Chicago's 1,100-capacity Metro, a warm-up show for their appearance at Lollapalooza on Saturday. The gig was announced just two-days before and unsurprisingly sold out instantly.2 days ago

@@Exonix I was afraid to drop my phone from the balcony with my head banging so I stopped recording once Diamond Eyes came on lol. Luckily, no one tried to shove me at the balcony unlike at the Weekend Nachos reunion set.
I wish I could’ve got a ticket to this. Still seeing them at Lolla but this would’ve been great to see. Same old 2k+ queue trying to buy a ticket story here 🙂
I don't think I'm gonna ever see them in person since they rarely book shows on the East Coast and it would always be sold-out even since the early 2000s. Thanks for the stream. Appreciate it.
I live in SC and have seen them 35 times. Don't give up, bro. The best ones are these little intimate settings. I saw them in a little 1k max old church. It was so very lit!
I saw em in the incubus coheadliner tour and chino had his moments but overall he was pretty mid. Saw em 2 years ago and chino was fantastic, he really has gotten better these past tours.
@@walkercorley3133 It was definitely a frustrating experience and I feel bad for those that never got their tickets. I got my ticket after 50 minutes of refreshing and attempting to check out the ticket.
I gotta see this band one more time while Stef Abe and Frank are still with us. Stef is ill this week. Chino hasn't been in this good shape in 10 years, perhaps! Ever since the new Crosses album, Chino is BACK.
I've somehow managed to see that Metallica show here and this show. I might be the luckiest guy on earth. I wish you got Passenger. That was fantastic. What an insane show.
It's sad to see that Steph is'nt even touring inside the US. Lance does the job good enough for sure, but our big guy with the fan against his head and his cargo shorts are part of the band's live experience IMO.
... and this may sound stupid, but I still can't get used to Lance and Fred's stance on the stage, they look like they are just learning how to play the instruments, there is something amateur to it, even tho they are pros and indeed sound awesome. Anyways, to be fair the band did a step-up in their live sound and we can gladly notice it, specially on Chino's side, I'm just a little bit annoyed by the fact that we already lost Chi for unmanageable circumstances and now we have to "lose" Steph in some way... Such is life I guess.
@3x curious about the audio difference that occurs when the video is zoomed in an out.. what causes that? Wouldn't imagine video placement would change the audio
It is one of the annoying features of the iPhone 15 base model. Audio zoom is terrible for concert recordings. I might bring another audio recorder to record shows but for this show, I had to drive home and edit and upload really fast before anyone in order to get views. Take a look at the Weekend Nachos reunion set filmed on a iPhone 8 Plus on my channel and there is no audio zoom.
I have no access to the soundboard unfortunately. My friend works the Metro sometimes if the bands hire him and he said he can send me the soundboard audio files if I request it.
Lollapalooza is a giant four day event that takes up the entire park. This was an "after show party" that they played before their "real" slot in the festival. Lots of artists do similar. The big deal was that a small club gig being announced last minute & venue capacity was only 1,000, as the deftones typically fill up ballrooms. So it's associated with Lollapalooza, but it's not part of the wristband festivities
This is an aftershow preshow like Chappell had hers the night before her outside set at Lolla. I'm not there though, but I know people who went to these indoor sets.
Think of what he’s been through doing this through the past three decades. Dude’s has been through rough substance abuse, blew out his voice, throat surgery.. aging…
Steph had sudden illness on the day of the show so there was a replacement guitarist to step in (Lance Jackman). Bass is played by Fred Sablan, a touring member.

This is how Defyones is meant to be seen: intimate dark venues and not huge festivals in the middle of the afternoon. Fantastic show!
