  • Demo of Bialetti Mukka Exress making cappuccino. This is the hard to find glass model (majority are aluminum). Some folks have reported coffee gysers and steam leaks with these pots, so here are some tips to successful use:
    1. Immediately after pouring, place pot in sink and fill with water - keeps the milk from drying and clogging the valve.
    2. Completely disassemble the unit and clean thoroughly, including the gasket and filter screen.
    3. Use fine espresso grind, and when filling basket, do not overfill and do not leave any coffee grains on lip of basket.
    4. Either use room temp milk, or nuke for 20 seconds prior to filling upper reservoir.
    Enjoy!

This amazing pot makes one of the BEST cups of coffee. I always took my alum pot camping. We were in the middle of no where and this guy casually said he was craving A capucino. I made him one of these; A truly happy camper! So simple to make on a camp stove and and such a treat in the morning.

My Mukka was messy, cold and almost without foam at the beginning.. But when I was looking for a valve replacement, I saw, there comes a small rubber ring with a new Valve. So I just put a small rubber sealing ring on the pillar where the coffe comes out, right under the top so the Valve sits on it. Now everything is sealed tight and i have more foam than ever, the coffee is much much hotter and there is no mess anymore. Everybody with problems, try a small sealing ring under the valve! (Try at own risk, always see that the bayonett valve is sealed tightI) Its a 13mm x 1,64mm ring ("R-06")!

Just over 4 oz water in the base, the same as the amount of milk to fill line. Just under 2/3 cup. Heat on medium high .Also wash all parts carefully and dry completely. The base is aluminum, coffee is acidic thus pocking can occur if you do not do this. The oils in coffee can gum up plastic frother lift mechanism so I rinse with water to avoid buildup. Milk proteins rinse out better in cold water. I found mine on eBay. I discovered the leak when pouring came from mineral buildup under the large gasket.

A common complaint with beginners is that the Mukka does not heat up the milk enough. What a simple and elegant solution to just leave it on the stove an extra minute.

This is very interesting... Just a note, I used to own a cafe for years & would serve expresso/latte & cappuccinos from a 10k machine. It isn't needed as long as you master the brewing system. The burner should be medium heat not too high, the reason? high temps will cause coffee to extract more of a bitter taste towards the end of the brew. Remember these 2 -Temp & Time.. The longer it takes to extract, the more likely you are to have a bitter taste also. You can add a small pinch of sodium, salt to your grounds before brewing. This gives a full body, milder flavor & cancels the bitter flavor through the extraction process. Coffee is awesome & there certainly is an art to it. This looks like a wonderful brewer system. Just a piece of cool information.. in Sweden sometimes they brew coffee with salted meat, to give it extra flavor & cut the bitterness out in the coffee. They say it tastes like heaven, who knows. Happy brewing & thanks for posting this.

Great video and the clear pitch portion of the Mukka pot made it very nice to watch what it does. I do have a question, if you don't put any milk into the pot and make just plain coffee instead, is there a healthy crema made? Does the coffee taste like espresso then? I wonder how the Mukka pot would make plain coffee vs the Brikka model?
