Especially now people who've moved here because of their career might be out of a job because of the covid situation and in there the unemployment office can be a great resource.
But don't sign up for idiotic courses, if you need to learn a new skill or a completely new trade to find work.
There are (or at least used to be) companies that offered courses in how to get a job. These courses get money from the unemployment offices and the government because they won a contest by being the cheapest.
What they offer is less than nothing. It's playing bunny, fingerpainting and all kinds of idiotic stuff just to fill the hours so they can bill the government or the city.
So remember to look for the courses that actually teach you some new skills.

      @myfinlandstory  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Totally! You are so right. Honestly I didn’t participate in some of those finger painting activities. At first I did, but then it just got too much and too meaningless. I did enjoy the games and movies though. All work and no play isn’t good for no one. 😂😂. Buy seriously you are so right. That is why many people come out of the programme snd didnt learn any Finnish or know what to do next. I believe they should make the language courses Intensive. And maybe a couple of times in a month for movies, finger painting and board games.

I agree that all courses have not been beneficial for getting employments. But even those might have some positive purpose. Some people need some activities to stay active and not get too depressed to even try to find jobs.
People can be in difficult mental or even physical states, without daily work related activities and something purposeful doing.
But I know, some training has been arranged just to sell some service without delivering relevant benefit to participants.
Companies also by all kinds of sales training, teem building, project work etc. training and exercises for their staff in the hope that they could enable some changes.

Dear Olivia. I've been a follower of your channel for years and enjoyed your content. Love your smile and normally happy vibe. Even as a "leftwingliberalsocialist" I kinda feel your stepping over the boundaries here by making it sound like it's easy to just jump into Finnish society. You should do a follow up video on how to we could start solving the problem at the African end before people need to become refugees.

    • @54321A

Thank you Jani for your candid opinion. The truth is that whether we like it or not people will keep moving to Finland for one reason or the other. It could be for studies, just relocating or for family reasons. Whatever it is, we don’t want them to get here and do nothing when getting a job becomes difficult. Trust me many immigrants Living in Finland only know about the language courses and the stipends you get when attending those courses. That’s why we have so many immigrants in Finland who have graduated from course, don’t have a job and don’t know what else to do with their lives. My AIM is to show people ways to establish themselves in a career or their own businesses so they can start contributing to the Finnish society. I believe that is the AIM of the TE toimisto too. Now many of my Finnish subscribers don’t like if when I make these kind of videos. So you are not alone. 😊. Same way many immigrants in Finland don’t like it when I make videos telling them to stop asking for special treatments, quotas, or political seats. I am kind of torn between two extremes. When I started this channel, it was difficult for me to find the balance. But along the line I have come to conclude that I may never find it. One of my greatest ways of being happy is to Stay true to myself. I am not on any sides. I just make these videos as needed and hope that people take a moment to see the point of the video without any prejudices. I really appreciate your support all these years 🙏🏽. Please don’t leave me Jani 😫😫😂😁. Have a lovely weekend 🧡

@@myfinlandstory Immigration is a wide field of different topics, which often are more or less mixed in peoples minds and creating confused and misinformed ideas and attitudes.
The biggest migration and most problematic has been internal migration. Then we have had so called brain leak - talented and well educated professionals leaving country.
Then we have European Union wide internal freedom of moving to other countries, which is not without some not so welcome complications.
World has large refugee problem, getting worse and worse. Finland has tried to have some positive role in this. Some refugees have been able to find a place in your society, not all. The methods of helping people to settle down and integrate to the society have not been very successful. That is something to be expected at a time when also a part of the local population is drifting outside work life and education.
There are dangerously many uneducated young people with not much to look for.
And finally we have work related immigration, which is also complicated. Some parts of industries are looking for workforce. They are seeking workforce globally. I am sure, in some cases it is an effort to find cheaper workforce that what would be available otherwise...
.... complicated topic and all kinds of opinions about it.
Espoo and Helsinki have tried to be immigration friendly. There has been political will and also industries have been pushing for it. Since integration has not been very successful, many similar problems have started to come to surface as in other countries with larger scale immigration. Sweden is a good example of what bad we wouldn't want to become normal also in Finland.
Ethnic gang's, extremist groups, larger mindless nationalistic groups, separate groups suspicious about each other staying separated...
We have terrorists coming back to Finland from Islamist militant groups, terrorist actions, international crime groups operating in Finland...
All above is in some ways connected to some form of immigration.. No wonder people are worried, some political groups are eager to get some boost by bringing up immigration as a reason for many problems. The arguments they use are simple and largely beside the real issues, but something so simple that uninformed people can understand. When there are no clear simple solution to bigger problems, then smaller problems may get peoples attention and gets used in politics.
