While I agree there are issues with the development. I do feel like you don't understand the issues well. First, it is 4 player dungeon runs in Infinite realms. The biggest issue is that the RomenVR hasn't found a way to monetize the game in a sustainable way. They realized that free to play games were the only games getting large new player bases and they failed to find a way to monetize inside "Zenith: The Last City". The only income they have had the last 3 years is selling the game directly, however due to the fact the game sold so well on launch but only had about 40 hours of gameplay, most VR players bought the game around launch and only played about a month. Which means that for the last 2 years the sales of the game have not been enough the sustain the team and create profit for their investors. A game with outside investors has to create profit or it will be shutdown. RomenVR should have found ways to create value for players while also selling cosmetics and other perks to sustain the game. Now there play is to get a bunch of free to play players to play this and hope they buy the other game, but of course at the moment it is seeming like too little too late and that they have poisoned their own community and created a side game that gets boring quickly.
Yeah exactly I was trying to explain this in the video that I think they should have gone with the MMO cosmetics and event-based model. There have been a lot of issues from a lot of sides. Thanks for watching the video
Thanks for making these man. Sticking with a steady release schedule for 2 years isn't easy. I used to make similar videos in 2020 but it took so much of my time I had to stop. You are the best source for VRMMO news. @@RedDevilVR
But this shit game just gives new players like me the impression that this small city is the only content the game has to offer. It's basically like a shitty vr chat. How are new players supposed to know that there is an mmo with the same name that they have to pay money for.
Zenith has made a number of mis-steps. I'm not sure that playing the free portion will convince enough people to buy the paid portion and having completely separate characters between the 2 parts (while probably necessary) is confusing since they have different builds. The lack of focus on bug-fixing and lack of seasonal events also hurt. That said, I think Zenith has been the best VRMMO so far. Ilysia has made a different set of errors. Given the huge amount of work they still need to put into the game, why should I play it now? I expect that so much will change that any effort I put in now will likely be a waste of time. Since I already own it I will probably jump in every 4-6 months for a bit just to check out the current state.
Fast flight the way it was originally was not over powered. You couldn't fly for very far distances as you used stamina more quickly the faster you flew it was legit good. I want it back
Saying that Ilysia needs "a lot of work" is an understatement if there ever was one. Progress is being made at a glacial pace, the playerbase count is in the low dozens at best, and it's pretty clear that they just don't have the resources and manpower needed to pull it off.
Yeeeeah I'm going to say this move hurt the game for me personally. I've been seeking that vrmmo that I could call home, invite my friends and just have the greatest time. Zenith had me showing friends the game but to them it was just not enough to even try. They would say it looked kinda cool but looks like it needed work to which I would tell them the many things Zenith was promising hoping they would come with me and play. Then all this mess happens. I didn't want a new game.. I wanted THE game of Zenith MMO to have a ton of more features and polish. I felt like there was a hype build up only to fall flat on its face. As of now I have no desire to even play it knowing it's a "DLC" lol. Oh and Illysia really pulled the rug from out under me. I backed it in kickstarted and felt it was going to be a wow style game but in vr. It would need a major overhaul before I could really try it again. Lets hope the VRmmos on the horizon have learned from these mistakes and give us what we want. :)
Ilysia's devs were unfortunately pressured to release into early access due to a lack of funding. (From what I know.) I wouldn't hold a grudge on them and would honestly recommend you check out the game in a good year or so if it survives.
Completely forgot Zenith existed after the split. Even when you dive into the MMO itself it is dead and feels like a PS2 online game where no one is online
I really like your suggestions for how Zenith could've implemented this new thing as a subpart of the MMO. I read somewhere that Quest DLC purchases can't be refunded (or at least as easily), so I'm even less interested in taking a chance on buying the MMO, as interested as I am in trying it.
Orbus just made an announcement that they have decided to continue development on the game with just the lead dev and a few others. Sounds like new content should be coming soon
Installed Zenith to play the famous MMO on my quest 3, arrive in a hub dont know what to do the resolution looks like garbage (came from pico 4 to quest 3) to finally the game just being jumping on rails and gliding with fucking horrible attacks and animations from the monsters that just pop in front of you. Uninstalled the game
Iv just discovered this Chanel. After over 2 years of playing vr and consuming all the vr content on TH-cam I can find, I am left wondering…. Where have you been all my life?!? Love your content mate, I am currently looking for a good vrmmorpg to start playing with a couple friends, what would your recommendation be for March 2024?
If I'm being honest there is no great or even good really vrmmorpg yet per se as most of them are either in development or just not up to par yet. However I would say Zenith VR the MMO version not the infinite Realms version is still pretty decent to play as a VR MMO with friends if you're looking to play with a bigger group. However that does change if you have pcvr available I suppose
Thanks for the reply! I actually have Zenith but was playing it solo which defeated the purpose of playing an mmo I suppose! We would have to play a cross platform game, I have a quest 3 and a pc, my brother has just a quest 2 and I have other friends that have either pcvr or psvr2 only…. I’m guessing Zenith is really the only option for us all to play together?
Zenith died! Ive tryed to play it last night and it loads only until a screen fron the sky and it stay there forever. I think the devs unplugged the cable.
Let me tell you my experience, maybe this can help to understand who we are dealing with 300+ hours played, many gameplay videos done (still in my channel...for now), tons of support to new players, bug reports, etc. NEVER bothered anyone... Made one time a mistake agains their Code of Conduct (for godstone experimental purpose) and boom lifetime ban (and subsequent treatment as a criminal of the worst kind) this appened about a year ago... but it still hurts a little bit I loved the game so much but little by little they filled of disappointment the jar up to this drop that made it overflow...and damaged in an irreparable way... so sad
The dev team seem quite childish and ngl i dont think they know what theyre doing, i highly doubt zenith will make a comeback, the games done they should just pack up and make something new but actually make sure they know the direction they want to take. Sucks that you got banned man but the game isnt really worth playign anymore anyways.
Simple game was good with potential to become god tier but it screwed itself by not caring about its community and adding a new game and they pretty much are dropping off from working on the mmo zenith killed itself
What they should have done was actually make the game people paid for before releasing this free version and overloading themselves with work causing the paid version to die and people to have wasted their money.
A game that can´t even fix the most basic issues since launch for 2-3 years, these being the clunky shitty UI that was made for a flatscreen game, and the bad combat system that just doesn't have any feeling of being in combat and is laggy and unresponsive as shit. A game like this won´t succeed. The devs clearly do not know what they are doing and even more than that they are not listening to the complaints of their players. Unless they push up a major update, where they upgrade UI, AI, Graphics, Combat, Quests, and all of the things that make this game feel like a bad MMO from 2005, it will not survive.
You can't kill Zenith. It was stillborn. I never had the slightest interest in that POS. It's just plain ass ugly from the start. Ascent Quest looks beautiful. That's what I waiting for.
Zenith is trying to do too much a stand alone free to play game plus an addon in the form of a mmo its just too cluttered the UI and introduction tutorials are all bad theres no clear goal its also trying to mix elements that dont blend together or they have elements that are all separated rather then incorporated into each other example parkour platforming + combat the game needs another major overhaul in my opinion yikes
The reason I got the game was cause of the blademaster and the class is the worst in the game it was such a let down actually wish I watched videos first be for I bought it. Big let down tbh 😢
I don't think you should open a youtube consulting business if you can't even get 10k subscriptions. Sorry if this seems crass, but anyone with common sense would come to the same conclusion. Also the Zentih update dropped the user review score down to 10% which makes it the lowest rated game in the entire Steam database.
While I understand your concern I'm not Consulting people on how to become "mrbeast" I'm Consulting them on how to make money with their TH-cam channel or at least to turn a hobby into a hobby that pays for itself. I have a degree in video production and over 5 years of solid experience on youtube. I know how to get a channel to the point of being able to make money with ad revenue, sponsors, and merch even. Those are not very easy things to do and not experience that every person has. The reason I like to help people in my Consulting businesses because when I first got started there was not a lot of guidance on how to actually succeed if you are a smaller Channel. There were a lot of videos but with all of the information out there it was kind of hard to figure out what actually worked. I have spent years honing my craft and I can share that experience with others. In my Consulting business I'd like to help a new creators cut a lot of the time and mistakes out of the first year or two of their creating and channel process so they don't have to stumble over the same mistakes I did and can build a more successful sustainable Channel much quicker. I can actually prove that my method works with my newer channels that I've started that become sustainable relatively quick. I am not trying to teach people how to become rich or famous or have a bajillion followers. But what I am trying to show people how to do is to take a hobby that they enjoy and turn it into a channel that they can monetize while sharing a rare or valuable experience with their particular audience. And yes honestly I'm very disappointed with the way Zenith has turned out especially with all of the work that channels like mine have put into backing the game and even trying to keep people interested. But it seems it's time to move on to other MMOs.
