      No its not. Dirty roads have nothing to do with it. It is the metallic flakes coming from the brake pads. He needs to switch to ceramic pads.

    AC and be coded off. Blind Spot can be coded to a very low speed to be activated. Brake dust, pads can be changed. Sport mode can be coded to start in sport mode. Trunk can be coded to close via remote. 5 things I hate about my X5 solved. That's what I did to mine. Hope it helps.

    • @AW305
      @AW305  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Minh Dao i had it coded when i picked it up in 2015. Ac was coded to remember last setting and still doesnt do it. Blind spot is coded for the slowest speed possible already (17mph) i believe. As far as i know you cant code it to remember sport mode on start up. The remote trunk coding worked. And as far as break pads any recommendations on some that performs well and is low dust?

    • @The_Diesel733
      @The_Diesel733 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In terms of starting in sport mode, I use the bimmercode app. You had to code it in two different places for it to work. Brake pads, I run OEM because I have satin bronze wheels and brake dust doesn't stick to satin finishes. But you can get ceramic pads. Here's a link. You might loose some bite in braking since it's a harder pad but might be good looking into.

    I hate that my gas cap locks/ unlocks with the car. Here in Atlanta people love to jack BMWs at the gas pumps and I assume its because it's easy to assume the car is unlocked when the person is pumping gas.
    Here is my routine to pump gas........ 1. Get out of my car. 2. Open gas cap. 3. Lock car so it is secure while I'm pumping gas (especially since my gas cap is on the passenger side which I also hate so it could be easy for someone to jump in the driver's side and me not realize). 4. Unlock the car again after I have my receipt so I can close the gas cap. Then get in and drive off. LOL
    I also agree with the car not staying in the mode you left it in. But it is undeniable that this car is a beast and so much fun to drive. I love my x5 so much!

  • @VictorEstrada
    @VictorEstrada 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    1 You're right, we all hate BMW break pads, they go with those for quietness and stopping power, but can be easily upgraded to ceramic. 2 yeah agree again, it should remember that setting and AC shouldn't come one when you press Auto, but it does so to keep your car at the temperature you selected, so it's not like it'll blow cold air. 3 Agree again, but this one like the previous 2 can be coded out. 4, running your car on sport mode causes excesive wear and you shouldn't be driving around like that, your kind of being needy here. And 5, they do that so you don't accidentally close the door on someone's neck while you have the key in your pocket and something pressing against it, but it should have a combination of key presses for this

    I coded my 2013 X5d using the carly by Bmw pro app on my phone.. super easy . Just buy the app and a obd2 adapter (I used the carly brand adapter but I think a cheaper adapter would work) the app was only 40 bucks.. it coded the mirrors and window close n open with the key, the seat belt warning , added the digital speedometer, codes the comfort access if your car is equipped with it. And a lot of other stuff.

  • @joesaunders2213
    @joesaunders2213 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Blindspot assist only activates at 30mph because speeds under that it is safe to look over your shoulder and correct any steering input caused by doing so. Over 30mph it is not safe to do so hence blind spot assist helps. So the car isn't at fault the user is for not understanding it's intended function

    • @chrisb321
      @chrisb321 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But why not just work at all slow speeds like every other car. What is the harm of it working at 10mph?

    • @AW305
      @AW305  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. Mb works at all speeds and so does a lot of other manufacturers

    • @wer170
      @wer170 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How is it safe at 30mph? You ever been sideswipe or hit at 30mph? It is not “safe” by any means. You are correct on 1 thing though, the car isn’t at fault, the engineer that designed this car is.

    • @lanacastillo49
      @lanacastillo49 ปีที่แล้ว

      My previous car a 2015 Nissan Altima SL has a blind assist that actually rings a sound if you are switching or moving lanes and another approaching car is in that lane averting collision. Also has heated steering wheel and remote start. A 2015 sedan!
      How my 2018 BMW X5 doesnt have these standard features is beyond me. Very annoying

  • @brianwallenburg9224
    @brianwallenburg9224 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Two of your concerns are easily fixed with just a little knowledge on how to save your profile settings. The AC powering on and Sport mode reverting to Comfort, are settings you can update to however you like. Brake dust is impossible to avoid. Blind spot detection is a valid complaint. Looks like you have the tailgate figured out. It's a nice looking BMW with those blacked out wheels.

  • @arxhives
    @arxhives 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think you may be confusing blind spot assistance with cross traffic alert which is only available when backing up. If you shift your car into reverse you can see triangles in the two top corners that show cross traffic warning. From what ive gathered, theres no audible tones though like the systems used in Infinitis

    • @AW305
      @AW305  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mason Carter I do have the bsm set to 17mph which is better but would love for it to be on at times. Especially while parked and trying to come out of a parking spot. I Also had the ac and drive mode coded and it didn't work

    Nice video. I have a 2012 X5 so some of the features yours has weren't available when mine came out. How sensitive is the front passenger seat belt warning in yours? I can't set my briefcase on the front passenger seat without it yelling at me to buckle it in. Love the idea of coding the car to fold the mirrors in when you lock it. I tested the new 530e and it does that stock.

I leave the mirrors out as a fender to keep pedestrians from trying to squeeze by in tight spots. Or parking too close-hate that. I'm getting the CLAR platform in late 2018/2019. The M-performance chip is money well spent FYI.

BMW disclaims this in their owners manuals, so does Porsche and other high end car makers. Carbon Ceramic brakes produce less dust but are more expensive and reserved usually for higher end models or as option.

    Hey brother thanks for the video I really appreciate it. I am in the process of buying one in Hawaii with 45k miles on it. One owner, certified from Honolulu BMW for around 30K fully loaded all options. Would you recommend this vehicle for that price? I will only put 50k more miles on it before I Upgrade. Also, have you ever towed anything? I have a boat and trailer weight is 4100 pounds. Thanks in advanced, Mahalo :)

    • @AW305
      @AW305  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Phillip Rush never towed anything. I think 30k with warranty is a decent price for the mileage thats on there. But warranty is the key

      @@AW305 thank you for your response it still has a 2 year extend warranty with the original warranty for another year. Will let you know if I go for it. Trying to get my interest rate down to 4% atm. You are the man my friend. Keep up your hard work I appreciate you!!!🙂🌺🤙

    That X5 is such a nice car! It drives like a sports car! Especially the M50 diesel variants. If you don’t like it please send it over here! I would be more than happy to take care of it forever aha! You just have to replace the air Springs from very 2 or 3 years And do the maintenance and it’ll last you a long time. Everybody likes the X5 It’s just X5 the price lol

    Was just wondering, Im thinking buying a similar car now 2017 (used) as I found a really good deal but really trying to figure out whether X5 is a reliable car and requires a lot of servicing, repairs, etc. Could your please advise if you have had/have any issues with it while operating it and/or any other recommendations you might have that I can address when doing the viewing. Thanks!

    you should always keep AC active. if you turn it off for long periods the AC system will start to go bad. the seals will dry up and it will start to leak. even during winter in Nordic conditions you should keep it on and auto. fixing a leaky AC is expensive as hell
