So they did make him slower. But I don't see that as any punishment, but part of the story
Well to be fair, the fact that I didn't notice the difference that much, Doesn't really make it a punishment. Cause the gameplay was still pretty easy and fun.
I think in this case, it was making Arthur weak and slower in gameplay. In other words, you would die easier, fist fights would be more difficult, Arthur wouldn't run as fast as before, etc. Things that effectively impact the game because a lot of what we did in chapters 2, 3 and 4 couldn't be done again.

Roger Clark is just amazing at playing characters that are on the verge of death as he perfectly captures the overall hopelessness and the lack of strenght left in the individual but also the desire to push on just a little bit longer. He obviously perfected that in RDR2 but he already showed his class years prior in the show I shouldnt be alive
I still hate that they created the health system to not let Arthur recover some of his cores while he was sick I get it but it ruins the gameplay and punishes you like Roger says
I forgot that he was going to get sick, so when chapter 6 started for me, I saw his eyes were red, and i thought it was tiredness, so i just kept sleeping until I realised.
dude did an amazing job with it. To this day if I do a replay I will stop right before the end of chapter 4 until I finish and find literally any and everything possible, then just power through the rest because playing as Sick arthur is just depressing and I absolutely hate it bc I feel like im torturing a dying man if I dont try and finish up the story as fast as possible by that point😂
Honestly, at this point, he could've said that they actually contracted Roger with tuberculosis for a realistic effect, and i would've believed them, because the game's details are just mad like that. But no, of course Roger is simply a phenomenal actor ❤
The worst part of the game (besides Arthur death) IS when Arthur crumbles down is St Denis. It is the beginning of the end. For him that is. For the gang it started earlier...
It's definitely possible and if we had it my way we would play a young hosea dutch and arthur lime gta5 you can switch between em and I feel it would finally end the rdr timeline perfectly a epolioge could be a jump to the future playing as a older jack like in his mid 20s it would make everyone happy
It's possible, but Rockstar tend to avoid reusing protagonists (we do get to replay John in the epilogue) If RDR3 goes off the current story and characters, we could go earlier with the gang, or follow Charles or Sadie afterwards. Of course we could just go to a brand new story and cast as well, I remember people were skeptical of Arthur living up to John before the game came out, but he definitely exceeded that, so I think they could pull off doing something completely new
Dang, caring about the player and the narrative seems like a foreign concept to the game industry in recent years. Crazy to see how bad it's gotten and how good it was.
I stopped playing the game once Arthur got sick. It was just too unbearable because the realism hit hard. I knew then Rockstar was gonna have him die like they did with John in RD1. 😢
Replenishing your cores is more difficult, and you need to sleep to properly fill your stamina core since food doesn't have the same benefit, I also don't know if you can get a gold core after a certain point
