My husband said his grandma didn’t speak any English her whole life here. She didn’t learn it. The only thing she would or could say in English is, “You eat”. So the family would speak Italian at home and outside of home, the children (my mother in law & siblings) would speak English.
It’s really not a good idea to go into a marriage divided on something as important as wanting children or not. In any case I wish them the best and a long and happy marriage!

SK man has that “pride” of marrying a foreign woman in their life. The parents (older gen) are not that keen when their children choose to marry a foreigner. Since he's too lazy to arrange one, it simply never happened 😂😂 And thankfully my husband is wise enough to said to his family that he's the one who doesn't want to do it (so the in laws never has problems with me).

However, I see it as a way to memorialize the things your ancestors have gone through and did to bring their descendants to where they are now. Like recognizing the work they did to ensure the family lineage persists in a hard world. I'll occasionally pray to my ancestors and "ask" them to give me strength to go through life in the same way that they were able to persevere and make it. Even if I don't know them myself, they were once important people to others in the family line and helped shape values that were passed down through generations. (Though I understand customs are just different and we should be free to practice our own beliefs!)
I think they will not last forever. The way the girl talks to her bf, is giving the vibes of being manipulative and she has a bad attitude.
