You Will NEVER Need to Pull For Signature Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail

- Should you pull for light cones in Honkai: Star Rail? Should you pull for Acheron's light cone? What about Aventurine? Is Aventurine's light cone a MUST pull?
A message to all the new players, free-to-plays, light spenders, dolphins, and whales that think any character needs their light cone to function properly . I made several points about Acheron, but this applies to any new character Mihoyo releases like Aventurine, who also will work just fine without his signature light cone.
Of course, you're free to pull for a character's light cone if you want. You will certainly value out of it, but if you can't afford it and about to give in to the FOMO, don't do it. Four star light cones are way more than enough to clear all the endgame content this game has to offer.
Save your Stellar Jade funds for Sam instead. :)

I feel like also supports are so strong in this game it also makes light cones less needed.
Listen, I have a great strategy: I pull LCs when I'm a huge simp for the character and use them all the time. So far I only pulled IL's and I do plan to try for Aventurine's when he finally comes, fingers crossed. I don't have Gepard's LC unfortunately and impositions on his BiS 4* are really low on my acc, I just want to spoil my babygirl, I hope I can pull it.
I needed to hear this too, honestly. With Acheron's LC banner going away soon, and me only having a single copy of GNSW, it was kinda hard to ignore all the Signature LC talk. I know that realistically, if I wanted more characters, pulling the character's equipment just doesn't make sense but damn the FOMO is real.
Luca lc will similar dmg to gnsw and give you the extra stack.
Those saying its not useful havent tried it.
Acheron's lightcone is cracked not because of any damage bonus but it might let you do 1 more ultimate in the same no of cycles . This will come down to horizontal vs vertical investments which is a totally different conversation and how much comfort you want while clearing endgame content.
This MoC also has dot applying trotters that give additional debuff stacks and lightning weak bosses so don't take this MoC's situation as normal. Also as opposed to 1600 jades for a lightcone you hit softpity at 65 pulls so it is 10400 jades if you win the 75/25.
There is a lot of bias in this video which is fine since videos like these are meant to be opinionated to spark discussions but I think it lacks information to help newer players make an informed decision. going back to the relic mines is not always a good solution we have seen people who max refresh for 2 months and get nothing ( braxophone) and pulling new units means needing to farm for new relic sets and planars so resources will always be super tight as opposed to just getting 1 more signature/eidolon that will future proof the unit for another year or 2 and save up potentially months of stamina or funnel that into improving the current units. It all depends on the chars and their kit/eidolons and signature ofc. But vertical investment is a very viable if not the more optimal option even for f2p IF their goal is tackling the endgame efficiently.
We all know the game is getting harder and soon we are getting 9 million hp bosses in upcoming pure fiction and bosses with multiple layers of toughness bars in MoC so it will be interesting to see how horizontal vs vertical investment strategies hold up against these meta changes.
@@Kspice9000 you are going to put the resolution lightcone on your other nihility units like pela already since she doesn't have a debuff on her normal and you can build her for speed -.-. And the defence down from the lightcone cannot be reapplied while it is active ona mob so you can only have one of it in your team
I think at the start for new players characters matter a lot more but once you have your 2 teams built, light cones and optimizing relics become bigger increases of power. I agree no one needs their light cones but unless I'm upgrading the units in my existing teams, pulling on the character banner also isn't neccessary. After getting Kafka/Black Swan/Ruan Mei/Luocha it makes more sense to getting their light cones despite having good 4 stars. Black swans light cone is insane and I'm hoping to pick up seeles on a rerun banner to make a bigger impact on that team.

Acherons Lightcone is so gosh darn tempting, even Genshin weapons didn't tempt me in this way

Hard agree. Of course all players have different wants and needs and mine will always be favoritism over huge numbers. Will always pull for a new character I want over a light cone I don't need when I can clear moc12 just fine with herta shop and 4* lcs. I also never pull for eidolons either and only ever will if I absolutely love the character which is why I have Blade e4 (e6 soon hopefully) and is planning on pulling Sunday eidolons if he's playable as well. Kafka is at e2 but that one is totally accidental because I pushed to e6 Luka (the worst warping experience I've ever had because the first copy only arrived at around the 150th pull and it still took me around 230 pulls total for Luka e6, Sampo ended up at e5 while Serval was like 12 btw lmao)
I can agree with vertical investment over horizontal investment but honestly if the units I've built can clear even without sig lcs then there's no point for me to go for even bigger damage rather than playing around with new toys. If I can survive almost a year without a 5* sustain because I didn't care enough about Luocha, Fu Xuan nor Huo Huo to pull for until Aventurine and without 5* Harmonies then I can definitely survive without 5* lcs. For reference I only got Gepard shortly before Aventurine released so it is true I was 5* sustainless for almost a year. Never got Bailu nor Bronya either and while I am saving my 300 standard pick so I can get every standard I would rather opt choosing Yanqing over Bronya just because I like the lad better.
My only Harmony 5* was Ruan Mei because I pulled for her because I like her well enough. Robin would've been my 2nd 5* Harmony if not for the fact that I don't have enough jades for everyone else upcoming that I want too. I got Topaz but I also want Boothill, Samfly, Jade, the leaked dude after her, and maybe Sunday will drop too soon that I'm deciding if I should leave Samfly and/or Jade for rerurns like Robin. It's very hard to decide with limited jade income that personally I can never justify myself spending on lc banner.
Like at this point I'll have too many characters that some will eventually get benched but characters are the ones that I will always have fun with and clearing end game with making do with I have is my preference over damage per screenshot. I loved the days of pre moc12 where I finally beat moc10 kafka with my Blade, Natasha, Dan Heng, Tingyun team with Dan Heng as wind breaker and Natasha for cleansing Blade carry (this was pre lynx to which Natasha has been permanently benched)
I pretty much said this to all my friend. I still dont know much about HSR, but 5 star weapons in genshin is not needed to clear content in the game, but I think its safe to assume HSR too. Weapons and LC gives more dmg but not extremely needed. Seeing big numbers is a happyness but its redundant if you build your charas and teams pretty well, which everyone can do (with luck on your artifacts and relics).
I only pull 3 sig weapons in genshin, hu tao's, furina's, because I like these 2 as a character, and also ayaka's for my traveler (I am a traveler main lol). I also like firefly, so I plan to get Sam/Firefly's LC
After losing every 50/50 since launched, the RNG gods finally blessed my account. At 0 pity and no guarantee on both character and weapon banner, my aim was just to get 1 pela. I literally did only 12 single pulls and got both acheron and her signature light cone. I went on coz i needed 1 pela, i got another acheon after 30 pulls and pela after that. I still have 50k jades left. Should I go all the way to E2?
I came back to star rail because of him and the free Ratio. Have 30-40 pulls on the LC banner, never went till pity. If I get him 50/50 that LC wil be the only I go for. It's not needed, but I want this one. GL to all.
Also, you don’t need to touch the gacha to clear all content. You pull out of the enjoyment and depth the character can bring alongside themselves.
i needed this because I was just seriously considering pulling for Aventurine's LC. Realistically I'm not going to need it
You don’t *need* Acheron’s LC, but for her playstyle it really does help. Since you don’t get much damage in between, for it to be a meta team, dumping like a little bit more investment into the LC banner (especially because GNSW is there) is just overall great. Not to mention that she works really well with 4* healers and debuffers, thus making the LC all the more justifiable. Her best team at the moment has 2 4* units, and it’s also quite literally THE BEST team in the game at E0S1.
That said, the character without the LC makes a healthy addition to DOT teams and her technique alone makes her amazing for farming. She is an amazing character without the LC. But even though she he’s far from unusable without it, her LC basically makes her into another character and completely flips her teamcomps.
I see her LC as a new character, and it’s the first one I ever pulled for.
I only rolled for Jing Yuan's sig because he's my fav character and he deserves his sig.
If I'm investing in a Main DPS I usually prefer to go for their lightcone, personally I care more about the power of the units that I have than getting all the units. Acheron, Kafka and Jingliu LCs were 100% worth it for me. Ruan Mei, Sparkle, Blackswan, etc. I can do without their LC. I'm going for Adventurine so I can drop Gepard and will probably skip his LC as well, I'm planning to start saving for Jade and her LC.
Getting Acheron again and again in early pulls and then her LC in 30 pity 😅

Listen as someone who pulls for signatures and is an f2p I personally disagree. I feel like pulling the lightcones adds more value to the character and helps you like characters more and even though I generally have to skip some characters it makes me appreciate the characters I have more. Another thing is that upon initial release you may like a character because they are hyped up and you may realize that you don't actually want them after pulling. On top of that you can do some fun builds by using the lightcones on 4 stars and I feel that going for lightcones can actually help in the end game with higher base scalings. The only character who id personally pull and not equip their signature on is Silverwolf as 'before the turtorial mission starts' is a pretty insane f2p lightcone on her.
Also you only need 8 units really for forgotten hall so in the end to increase dps or factors of your team you should pull lightcones.

First of all no light cone will be better then the original character light cone signature...just play what u want honestly..
We play for fun not play because meta said so and getting new characters after another..
Unless u are whales and like all characters...
Second been playing for weeks and did alots of research and i can tell you that supp is strong in this game because supp is a must to have characters since u can play it on any team u want...
Once u have the supp u want and needed,just focus on building characters dps 5 star u have..is not even competition,flexing your dmg or characters doesn't make u gain anything..just satisfaction..
And keep this is mind jade is limited,not always mean u can get all characters u want..
Especially if u are F2P..
while i get the point of the vid is to reduce FOMO i think telling people to always pick more new character over getting LC for existing characters is a dogshit advice. Approaching the game with the mindset of "u dont need it because u could clear it" is such a poverty driven mindset that can ruin ur enjoyment in the longrun. Gacha game shouldnt be treated like saving account. If u want LC just for the 1 million acheron damage just go for it, it will bring u joy.
ur pulling strat should depends on ur account. There are few eidolon/LC that worth way more than getting new characters. e.g Ruan mei E1 is worth as much as multiple DPS LC but u could use it for multiple teams.
There is no one size fit all advice and instead u should try to evaluate ur own account to know what gives u the most mileage either it getting more DPS, sustain, Harmony, or getting busted LC/Eidolon.
while i agree that most lcs/eidolons aren't necessary, this argument falls apart the moment you have more than a certain amount of characters.
obviously ignoring biases like design, personality, gameplay etc:
there is a second significant resource in this game that you neglected to mention, that being fuel.
New character = Farming a whole new relic + planar set (especially if their kit is unique), trace materials, level materials, credits, weapon enhancement (especially if their kit is unique, will also need unique lc).
After you get, let's say, 8 limited 5* characters, every further pull is competing against the 8 units you already have.
If you already have Luocha and Fu xuan, pulling adventurine instead of vertically investing into supports you have already built will most likely not be a decent option for progression.
If you have acheron and jingliu, there is no practical reason to pull boothill over acheron's lc.
Why spend weeks/months building a sidegrade and benching someone you have extensively invested into?
a new character being marginally better than an old one does not mean they are a good pull, investing into eidolons/lc is valid for futureproofing your account.
ironically this clearly shows in your account
you have 2 of the best dps in the game and seele (wasted character pull), argenti/jingyuan/dhil etc aren't going to benefit your account more than an acheron lc (for example), huohuo + luocha doesn't synergise a whole lot with acheron + you already have fu xuan for your second half hence low value pulls, pulling topaz for ratio / fua teams means you bench either acheron or jingliu (downgrade) etc,

pulling a future character on your account is definitely not a better choice than, again for example, acheron's lc that enables you to run fire mc + trend as sustain more reliably (more dmg -> shorter battles -> fire mc's lacklustre long term sustain becomes way less relevant) would bring much more value to your account than robin (sidegrade to ruan mei since you do not have topaz) nor boothill (sidegrade from jingliu/acheron)
