striaght pipe means no muffler or no cat or both. doesn't cost anything to get rid of something. if you can weld, then what are you paying for? the tip that's it. hell even if you cant. there's shop that'll weld for you for next to nothing. on my 95 i brought in my cherry bomb and cat and tip they popped it in for me for 35. and i got my parts online so i paid about a total of 135 for everything. AND i got 2.5 inch piping from cat back. great deal.
not sure i would have had it out the drives side.... originally it comes out the back passenger right?? you crossed it over? that would be loud right beside your head
so u dont have any kind of aftermarket muffler on there at all? no glasspacks or nothin? i want to do the exact same thing to my 02 blazer. your's sounds badass
I'll be honest, I thought this truck was gonna sound like crap but it actually sounds very good, very grunty. I thought 4.3 could only ever have that wheezy stock sound or sound like a wet fart when straight-piped, but this sounds great.

for you? no offense but u don't sound like you know what your doing so if i were you, i'd just ask a shop to remove the muffler for you and run a straight pipe after the cat. some might question you a little because it's kinda well... illegal. it should be dirt cheap. or if you want, you can remove the cat and the muffler and run nothing put exhuast pipe after your y-pipe. now you might run into some problems with your O2 sensor i'm not sure how ppl with striaght pipe got around that,
