  • If you are having tuning issues with your Wildkat's Bigsby, then you should definitely check out bricksbiggsfix..... This guy in Alaska has figured out a way to help Bigsbys stay in tune. I have installed this system on 3 Wildkats I own, and in no case did it change the tone or otherwise negatively affect playability. It just solves tuning issues. Good luck!

Here are a few more tips...I replaced my tunomatic bridge saddles with roller saddles; either lube the nut on your guitar, or in my case I have a graphite nut and also make sure your nut slots are filed properly and not binding the strings. I have grover locking tuners and make sure to manually stretch new strings until they don't detune anymore.
My Bigsby works great. Its as good as a Fender Strat trem.

Bob Boitt, are we talking Fender American Deluxe trem, or MIM trem? In any case, it's good to hear that there might be more than one path to solving the issue. Do you know what kind of roller bridge you used? Did a cheap one do the trick, or was it more pricey?

Thanks for doing the demo video. To be fair, Biggsfix really only addresses one of the several causes of tuning instability. This is a BIG one on Wildkats though. We make no claims about fixing ALL issues with this device, but if you've tried everything else and have been pulling your hair out, this is probably it- Bill @ Biggsfix

I had already swapped out the original spring for a softer one from Reverend Guitars ($10@), so when I installed the Biggs Fix tension roller on my WildKat, I was totally impressed. I've played pro since '63 and this is the BEST Bigsby improvement ever! I love the tuning stability (I'd also swapped out the tuners for Imperials and the saddles for GraphTech's) and the Bigsby's action. Whoa! I think there will be more of these in my life soon! LOL

I made the upgrade and it stays in tune much better now. It is not perfect, as you say, but it is better. I also changed the Bigsby spring, strings, nut and bridge.

Rogelio H. Hinojosa Sáenz, I'm curious which year your Wildkat is and whether you had to do any sanding on the bushings. I have two from 2001, and I had to sand down the bushings on both of those. I also had a 2014, but I didn't have to do any sanding for that.

Hi, considering the angle or the slope which is visible at 1:36, you could have totally done without this new raised bar and passed the strings directly on the bridge which is high enough for that. Besides of that, i also recommend changing the 7/8 inch spring that these epi come with and use the 1 inch spring instead (don't buy from Bigsby brand, they're too stiff) my 2 cts.

That doesn’t work, because the strings will slip off the bridge unless there is enough break angle on the bridge.
I can imagine why a longer, softer spring might be a nice thing. I’ll have to consider that.

@@DrumStrum Some people have tried successfully, just take a ruler and measure the angle, if there's enough angle, the strings won't slip off because of the pressure, my es295 copy has this with a B6, no problem at all, and really responsive and smooth

I have a Wildkat. The way I keep her in tune. Is I do,nt use the bixpy at all. I just move the bar out of the way. Works for me.

I made the upgrade, doesn't stay in tune. It's the same of before. I changed the spring and installed a roller bridge. Nothing to do. What's the problem?

The problem is most likely in the nut. Install a "Gold Tone Zero Glide Slotted Nut " zero fret and your problems will be fixed. I put both the bricksbiggsfix and the zero fret system and now the Wildkat stays perfectly in tune. Also all the " cowboy cords " sound perfect. I've used this combination on about 20 guitars and every one sounds perfect!! Also I use roller bridges and use the short string tie off locking tie method or locking tuners for the strings. It Will Work!!

Don't forget the nut. A lot binding occurs there as well. Go with Graphtech. Best wishes to all.

That, along with a roller saddle bridge and Gotoh locking tuners solved my tuning problems on my Epiphone Les Paul with Epiphone branded Bigsby.

blindradish, i’m not really doing anything special. I’m simply installing the unit according to the instructions provided. It really isn’t anything special. But it does make a world of difference.
