I don't know how long you plan to keep this car, or what your winter weather is like, but you *really* don't want snow/salt/leaves/road dirt getting stuck up in your new rocker. The ends of your faux-rocker panels looked open. Will the tire just kick all the rain/slush/dirt into it? My 02 RS came with plastic mudguards behind the wheels, those should fit. Even with a mudguard closing the front I'd still worry about drainage for that rocker. Mine rusted out because a drain hole got plugged with leaves while I had to park on the street for a few winters.
i would have welded some square tube steel to the floor before doing the tinfoil because without a square frame in the rockers the car will sag in the middle and your doors might become hard to open and close
The aluminum was a good idea. Unfortunately this car had a lot of rust making your efforts a bit more complex. Good video dude. I got my Bugeye that needs some small rust repairs but I need to stop putting it off!! Keep them coming man
do you live in the states? cause.i went to home depot and they have dick noone does here where I am in canada one place I looked had a small 24x48 piece for 56$ ridiculous
Also I am a fan of the wingless trunk, glad I got that haha except a ugly dent on it. Keep it up man. Also you can probably remove that rust stain using some polish/wax, no need to wet sand it unless it’s really bad. Also, clean the rims!
To be fair, there wasnt much of a rocker panel to provide structure anyways. Luckily it wasnt any sort of race car to where it would matter a ton. This was more of a bandaid fix rather than proper
yes. In my country you would probally not been allowed to drive it home after a 2 year inspection after its five years old. Personally i would scrap it.. Just intresting to see rusted out cars for some reason.
I have to same problem with my bugeye. I also ride motorcycles. The way I see it, if I drive this car is safer than ride a motorcycle when crash, then I don't really care. Also, if I value my life that high, I wouldn't ride motorcycles nor drive a rusty old car like that. Just to each his own.

Rocker panels are structural. Your car will be very twisty now that you don't have solid metal.

@@SamOhler were you able to make new mounting points for the outrigger brackets
ya what an idiot LOL
Thats not rusty, thats straight up gone.
Fuckin hell. That thing would get condemned in the UK! Would not like to have a crash in that at all!
You’re telling me! It lasted one winter before it turned into a parts car
Stevie wonder could have done a better job
Zucc probably could have too
Bye bye structural rigidity
Hope you don't crash in it as fold like tinfoil with that repair
Let’s be honest, the structural rigidity wasn’t even there with all the rust lol

He has more metal now than before. So it is stronger than before.
