Living in Florida can be quite challenging for the middle and low class . It became expensive to live in Florida. If you move from the north you might get a good deal on a house but let's not forget that Florida has one of the lowest wages in the job market combining that with the recent costs of living it's not easy. Also the main job industry is tourism while major cities in Florida have a more diverse job market which is helpful. Eventually the fast growth will stop within 10 years as cost of living keeps continuing to go up . Eventually Florida becomes California where only wealthy people and tourists can enjoy the beaches . It's definitely heading that way. The problem is you can't build everywhere in Florida, space is limited due to the vulnerable environment . There're some good documentaries on YT about the growths how it has an impact on Florida's ecosystem . Whole growths can be beneficial but at the same time it can be devastating to the environment. Trying to go to I75 along 54 will take 45 minutes to an hour depending on the time of day. It used to be just during tourist / snow bird season, but now it seems like year round. It’s not a problem with the city, the population grew way too fast for the infrastructure and it’s a nightmare getting around.
As someone who has lived in the Tampa area since 2004 this is my take. Tampa was smaller back then, but had more nightlife options. Yes you had Soho and Ybor like now, but back then you had more upscale places like Floyds in the Hard Rock or Blue Martini. Now you really dont have many options. The only upscale night place is in the Edition and its virtually impossible to get in. St. Pete on the other hand was really dead back in 04. Then since 2015 their nightlife has eclipse Tampa. They have more high end places and lower cost places too. Maybe what is occuring is Tamp is where people will work and live, while St. Pete will be the nightlife center. Still its odd that for all of Tampa's growth, their nightlife is less than 20 years ago. I have no regrets moving here, great video!
Appreciate that insight. Id say thats pretty accurate. I have noticed tampa has more wine and dine type options lately which isnt a bad thing. I realized Tampa was a place for me to experience a lot of things while I'm young and be in a fun place but I realized why when you get older you are more attracted to more affordable places because it stunts your growth unless you make a very high income to be spending most your money on expenses every month. Tampa is not overcrowded. You people need to stop with the bullshit. Try going to Orlando and see what a congested area really looks like. Tampa is fine. You guys are on some bullshit*
Housing is expensive unless you have a roommate or savings to buy (homeowners insurance and HOA are very high). Pay is low unless you have a corporate job or own your own business. Just average food compared to say Chicago or LA. Traffic is like any bigger city in prime times. There is a ton to do. It's a beautiful area with water everywhere. You have sports teams to go experience which is great. It's way way better than south Florida. You have St. Pete, Clearwater, beaches, the ocean, water sports. If you like the outdoors, this is the place. It's pretty much a safe place, nothing to worry about. Public school systems absolutely stink. More indie bands come through here more than anywhere in Florida if that's your thing. The tourist thing get's annoying after awhile. Get a bike to get around, you'll have fun. Public transportation is meh. Neighborhoods are sprawled out. People drive like morons. Generally people are nice but you run into entitled jerks from Jersey and New York here and there. There's left and right politics. Summers are Brutally hot. June, July, AUGUST you can fry an egg on the sidewalk. The sun feels a million miles closer. But October through April is paradise. Hope this helps.
Tampa is evolving like any other place for better and worse. Most people don't like change, but change brings oppertunity Those who say we're full hate the increasing traffic and in rual areas the improchment of new developments. For the poor and elderly who live off welfare, this area nolonger bein cheap for them is an issue. Over all I'd say most changes, especially in the downtowns are great!

As an American, I’ll make sure to give you shit, if your politics are from California or New York. Keep it out of here, or move somewhere else, if you don’t want the headache.
I moved to Saint Pete in February of 1999 and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the world. I’m worried a bit about the politics of my city and we are seeing an escalation of crime however. That makes me think about either leaving or distancing myself from the city. It’s changed here big time in the last few decades. Some for the better, some not so much. I’m happy to see people come down here to enjoy the freedoms that we have and no nonsense laws in comparison to other states. I hope they don’t bring their leftist politics with them.
I've lived in FL 34 years. What a sad state of affairs that people are judged and welcomed or not based on their political views. I never remember this being an issue. It's divisive and undemocratic. Florida is in trouble if this mindset continues.
Crime....is reason we do not want to invest in the US. To buy 1 million house or so, and then crime or some problematic guys around me... The US is joke about life.
Born and raised 3rd generation from Citrus Park...my grandparents were one of the first tenants in Britton Plaza…I grew up riding my bike through the orange groves and eating all I want and catching snook until my thumbs were sore…Tampa has become absolute trash..gentrification and urban sprawl at its finest..overrun with idiots from the northeast and California..destroyed Miami/Broward/PalmBeach and well on the way to doing the same to my home. “Country ain’t Country No more”-Travis Tritt
It absolutely is and believe it or not is completely different “in a good way” even in that short amount of time. Revisit and you will be surprised. Downtown has blossomed and its amazing. Still going too!
Yeah everything is beautiful & the people are really nice. I have washed so many videos about Tampa Florida but you really have to visit & see for yourself.
Moved from New Jersey to Westchase in Tampa. We rent, hubby makes a living as an MRI Technologist while I still work remotely in healthcare at same NJ company. We love it!!!! So much to do and beautiful weather all year round!!! ❤❤❤❤
It's not about, has it changed my version on Florida it just that with more people it's starting to get over crowded and with that we don't get to enjoy certain things that we once did but not only that prices are going up and people's driving is getting worst as well as some of those people are bring there BS with them. Don't get me wrong, I love Florida. I just don't like the number of people moving here now. If we were a much bigger state like Texas or Alaska, then it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but we're not, and we're mostly swamp and not a lot of build ground to build on.
My life journey. San Antonio, Austin, Houston, Clearwater. Moved here right before the Covid hit. It cracks me up when people complain about traffic on I-4 or 275. Lol. There is nothing like a 24-lane wide freeway ( I-10) moving 5 MPH at 3 AM. Pinellas people complaining about traffic on 19 crack me up. HAHAHAHAHA. Area wide here's what I hate. Only 1 restaurant has decent Mexican food. Zero BBQ worth eating. I had to buy two offset smokers to eat decent food. Car and house insurance is a joke at these prices.
Tampa is not organically growing. Waterfront views are great until you eventually get bored from staring out of a window. Even if its fLoOr To cIeLiEnG. We don't have much of a playground with the exception of a few steakhouses, national sports leagues, and interesting strip clubs. Downtown can never bring in steady nightlife. Hyde Park had potential until the village became tacky as fuck after 2020. SoHo is still only college bars. Ybor is hit or miss, literally. North Tampa is filled with predominantly franchises. I'm all for trying to make this place one of the best cities, but there is an incredibly large disproportionate rate of building with respect to residential and new commercial real estate for night venues/new restaurants. We still don't even have a gay side of town (2 gay bars in Ybor does not count). Also when it rains now, I'm driving through the shallow section of the Adventure Island's wave pool. Lastly, anyone moving over to Marina Point...as you're reading this there goes up another complex!
I never said i dont think its a good idea for people to come to tampa. Thats what i hear in the comments. Thats why i interviewed people to get their take on it
New Yorkers brought culture, food, and personality to the Tampa area. The most dry people in the country are from SWFL. Before NYers moving here you were eating Papa John’s and Dominoes. Ow you have some of the best pizzerias in the country in the area.
I’m part of the “stop moving to Tampa” crowd. My family has been in the area for generations, and Tampa’s infrastructure is not growing as fast as the population.
I have lived in st.pete since 1990. Id rather go back to 1990 or leave. Cant wait to retire and get the hell out of here. Stop acting like we aint full, stop acting like thats the onpy problem. I dont recognize the st.pete of today. The pre existing culture is gone, done.
anybody who lives in downtown is not from tampa lol up until like 2007 2008 when they built up channelside for the first time no one lived in downtown besides homeless people. any true tampanian is going to be from the big neighborhoods, south tampa, west tampa, north tampa, ybor

For home insurance apply for home exception
Lease is up in October….can’t wait to leave Clearwater and head back north
To a new city you've never lived in or a place that you've lived in before? And what city you like that's north?
Tampa is evolving like any other place for better and worse. Most people don't like change, but change brings oppertunity
Those who say we're full hate the increasing traffic and in rual areas the improchment of new developments. For the poor and elderly who live off welfare, this area nolonger bein cheap for them is an issue. Over all I'd say most changes, especially in the downtowns are great!
So many educated ppl , smiles, nice ppl , I like it. Matter a fact, I think I'm moving to Tampa 😊
I hate Orlando vibe

As an American I'll live wherever the fuck I want and vote for whoever I want.
As an American, I’ll make sure to give you shit, if your politics are from California or New York. Keep it out of here, or move somewhere else, if you don’t want the headache.
They used to have the Gasparilla Distance Classic 15k Runs there. Did that race a few times back in the day. Very scenic area.
Great you can afford it but a lot of locals are priced out
Sounds like you may enjoy it better in “The Villages”. St. Pete’s not for you.
Crime....is reason we do not want to invest in the US. To buy 1 million house or so, and then crime or some problematic guys around me... The US is joke about life.
There's plenty of Republicans in St. Pete's. Lol
Well get reasy Im coming last I stayed in Ocala so Tampa is next downtown to be exact
Nice!!! if you need help finding the right areas, etc. give my team a shout. Info@themorejongroup.com
440 people per day move here. Please stop.
Florida IS the greener side of the fence
Tampa is sweet
Screw Tampa, it's the surrounding area that's awesome
St Pete for life
On my way from Jersey next year :) ... I know I know lol
Came to Tampa for my Birthday back 2019 & loved it down there.
The City is just a vibe
It absolutely is and believe it or not is completely different “in a good way” even in that short amount of time. Revisit and you will be surprised. Downtown has blossomed and its amazing. Still going too!
I’m leaving tampa asap
Sorry to hear that you are leaving…Reach out to my team we would be happy to help you sell!
People want to live in safe, clean, law abiding areas after they have messed up their blue states.
Houses very expensive. No dream to have a little house anymore.
House that was $80k, few years ago now same house today is $450k, as is, that's not normal to me,
I am looking to move to Tampa within the next few months! Great vid!
Thank you! If you are looking to buy a home or have any questions reach out to my team at info@themorejongroup.com
Yeah everything is beautiful & the people are really nice. I have washed so many videos about Tampa Florida but you really have to visit & see for yourself.
Please don't 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 we are full.
Try Ocala Florida
@@florida83 Too late! I’ll be in TAMPA soon. Perhaps you should move to Ocala. 🤣
I'm coming and I can confirm I'm only gonna add to this beautiful place....
Do this for st Pete!!!
You got it! Great idea!
Moved from New Jersey to Westchase in Tampa. We rent, hubby makes a living as an MRI Technologist while I still work remotely in healthcare at same NJ company. We love it!!!! So much to do and beautiful weather all year round!!! ❤❤❤❤
@@gmd622 love hearing that. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Looks like Tampa and Singapore are like 'Twin Cities;. IMHO.
Havent been to singapore but i hope its nice lol and thats the comparison lol
Who doesn't know Tony from tampa
It's not about, has it changed my version on Florida it just that with more people it's starting to get over crowded and with that we don't get to enjoy certain things that we once did but not only that prices are going up and people's driving is getting worst as well as some of those people are bring there BS with them. Don't get me wrong, I love Florida. I just don't like the number of people moving here now. If we were a much bigger state like Texas or Alaska, then it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but we're not, and we're mostly swamp and not a lot of build ground to build on.
This is nothing. Try being from Texas before you complain
I think it’s about time Tampa gets a professional basketball team. Its big enough to support.
That would be cool to see!
Keep saying I don’t mind sharing my city, wtf is that! Do you own it or something we don’t know lol
It is a figure of speech.Come on.
@@vincentinchoco8969 right but you are helping people relocate to Tampa, I don’t think best idea to sound like you don’t like people moving to Tampa.
You didn’t bring nothing but trash … take ur pizza and go back up north …. Peace !!
*Laughs in South Florida* :(
lol traffic is full you have no idea try the 405 in Los Angeles.
I’m part of the “stop moving to Tampa” crowd. My family has been in the area for generations, and Tampa’s infrastructure is not growing as fast as the population.
People need to stop moving to Florida. I'm tired of it. I had to leave Miami where I was born to Orlando because I couldn't buy a house in Miami.
Shout out to Mobile, Al!!!😂
Lol
I have lived in st.pete since 1990. Id rather go back to 1990 or leave. Cant wait to retire and get the hell out of here. Stop acting like we aint full, stop acting like thats the onpy problem. I dont recognize the st.pete of today. The pre existing culture is gone, done.

God bless Ron DeSantis!!!!!

Here’s another one “FLORIDA IS FULL”
anybody who lives in downtown is not from tampa lol up until like 2007 2008 when they built up channelside for the first time no one lived in downtown besides homeless people. any true tampanian is going to be from the big neighborhoods, south tampa, west tampa, north tampa, ybor
*Women are slow in flordia 😂 i think its the gator water🐊*
Go home please, visit yes.hes asking ppl that are resent for reviews 😅. Really man. Go back. The resent new population ruined the local market, cost of living and traffic is horrible. Go back please 🙏
I appreciate your comments but make sure to watch all the way through. The first older couple were here for a long time. Then i even made a special trip to the coffee shop to hear from long time locals and major tampa advocates. They didnt sugarcoat it.
Most locals would agree… bring a level of respect to Tampa and all is good. There has been pros and cons with Tampas growth. And so i was asking everyones opinion. Appreciate the comment
Tampa sucks
