Remember that Raptors were super awesome and people were jumping them with leaf springs for a long time. The new rear suspension is a great improvement, but you can also add that to a GEN2
Yeah you made me finally get off the fence about Gen 2 or Gen 3 ima just go for the 2 , I’m a heavy off-roader / daily driver if that makes sense I think the layout of the Gen 2 is perfect for my needs thank you
Very true! Is there one you recommend? I've heard of Autotec but some people that I read reviews from say that uninstalled it after a few months because it began to glitch.
In other words. If you can afford a Gen3, you get a Gen3. If you can’t afford a Gen3 you get a Gen2. If you can’t afford either, get a regular F150. It’s that simple. Cheers
@@thegalleryBBQI just bought a 2017 Gen 2 Raptor coming from a 2015 5.0 FX4. I could afford to get a Gen 3. But I wouldn’t take such a new truck off-roading or feel comfortable daily abusing a 100k truck regardless of my bank account. the Gen 2 is more than enough truck. gas mileage sucks though. I heard him say he runs 33s. I may consider that next set of tires and run mud tires instead of all terrains. Not sure if it will balance out. I had 33s on my fx4 and I don’t see much difference unless you actually plan to race the truck lol
Im lucky found a velociraptor 19 63k miles new turbo gate valve and total adjustment redo on panoramic price was in the 40s can’t find anything that looks like mine awesome trucks
When buying a Gen 2, please make sure you get an extended warranty from a reputable dealership... For example; I bought a 2017 gen 2 with 50k miles, 1 owner great price.. Lucky me!! Nope, I started noticing the infamous Cam phaser problem🤦🏽♂️ Drove the truck for a couple of thousand miles and about 6 months, until a big trip from FL to NE and then, the Cam phasers super loud knock... I have National Auto Care extended warranty, Pinnacle coverage, and after a Ford dealership inspection, was approved and only paid $200 deductible for oil pan replacement and Cam phasers, hell yeah!! So I recommend that extended warranty company due to my recent experience 👌🏽 and don't buy used without an extended warranty...
@alexmar1382 That's true. If you don't mind spending an extra 6 to $10k for a low mileage one, that's a better option.. With a lot of patience and research, you can get a decent deal for 40k or less on a 2017-18 with decent mileage and extended warranty. Make sure the extended warranty is from a reputable company. You can rest assured and get cam phaser done anytime.. My experience was a 2017 beautiful avalanche grey only available on 2017, 802A package with 52k miles, 1 owner from FL. We'll take care, new tires, steel bumpers, and hard bed cover for $40K.. 6 months later, I saved myself $4,500 cam phaser and oil pan replacement.. So, yeah, all depends on individual budgets and achievements.
Gen 3 is alot better than the gen2, even tho they both make the same rated hp the gen 3 has hight compression ratio at 10.5:1, different cams and better turbos, they make more hp through the lower rmps. Has a huge difference in transmission tuning. Fixed the steering rack and front 4wd hubs issues that gen2 had. The is suspension way better, you really notice it at getting the power to the ground in high speed off roading. Get a gen 3!
@@Shouldigetit2 they aren’t 33s. 33s would look tiny. The stock tire size (which looks like what you have from the video clips) is 315/70R17 which is a metric 35”.

@@Shouldigetit2 thanks for the response, it’s going to be a daily. Gas mileage is nice and all but I’m not really concerned about that. I’m going to be conducting business in it, some light work like carrying a ladder and some tools and road trips. I want to keep it for a while, like 5+ years. I will be taking out a loan for it. I’m just worried that the raptor might be too much maintenance and too expensive/unreliable. But other than that I’d much rather have a raptor as it’s my dream truck. Also, I do hunt a lot and some of the properties I hunt can get rough to drive through. So 4wd is a must, mid size would probably be better for that specifically, but the full size raptor would be nicer for the other 90% of the time

I hope you've already made a decision and got the 2023 Trd or the 2024 Nissan. If you planned on getting the a Raptor, make sure it's not 2017 or 2018. The later builds 2019 and 2020 were fixed from the earlier build issues. Yes, I daily drive a Raptor and it's been flawless at nearly 90K miles.
If you're getting a Gen 2, make sure it's the 2019 or 2020 model. All or majority of the issues of the earlier Gen 2 have been fixed with the later builds. I'm nearly at 90K with mine with no issues. One big tip however, is change your oil more frequently, every 3K or no more than 4K depending on your driving style. Clean your air filter every oil change and replace every 12K miles. Raptor is not your average truck, it requires more frequent maintenance to run flawlessly.
Hey Alex I’m looking at a 2019 802A carbon fiber package with 90k miles on it. Dealer listing for 39k (going to haggle that down) I have no problems with doing the maintenance but the cam phaser/fox shock replacements problems are turning me off. Any thoughts?
@@roberthalliday9385 (I have the same truck). Personally, I never had an issue with my cam phaser (changed oil more frequent) and still have the original fox live shocks, granted I don't off-road it heavily. It's all going to depend on how you're going to used it. Recommendation is rebuilding the shocks at 50K if you off road it a lot, if not, later. I daily drive in moderate speed but half the times not so moderate. That said, @90K miles, I don't know the history of the truck or what was the driving style of the previous owner, hence you might want to look into the history of its maintenance report first.
@ 1 owner no accidents but the carfax stated it was a company vehicle if that means anything. Probably a small business owner for tax purposes. I know the 2017/2018 has the major cam issues but iv been reading they got fixed with the 2019/2020. Going to daily drive it and go duck hunting nothing hardcore. Just always wanted one.
