  • A quick video on my journey in learning how to draw anime style belly without anatomy knowledge + Mignon artist study.

    I’ve always thought that having anatomy knowledge is a must in drawing something like bellies. But after seeing how Mignon breaks down the belly into 7 simple steps, I thought that I would give it a try. So this video was the result of my study. Time taken for study ~7hrs.

      Compared to other art channels, this one is short and concise, it feels as if every second of this video thoroughly explains what you're doing and not stalling time.
      Very professional work imo

      You're very clear and structural mate. It's easy to follow and has some humor to lighten up the mood too. Your only problem IMO is the algorithm…

      A great and short vid, although I really think that a lil bit of anatomy should be in there
      Also im pretty sure those 2 triangle at the hips are planes created by the fold of the thighs into the hip

    My English teacher told us that it would be more beneficial to read books about books than to just read the original book, and I didn’t understand that until finding this channel. I learn so much more watching a tutorial about another tutorial than I would just watching or looking at the original.

      I'm pretty sure this is why I enjoy watching concise TH-cam videos about anime rather than watching the anime itself. The youtuver has already done the hard analysis for me, so I just have to think about what I want to do with that analysis.

    This is what artists mean when they say you should “steal” obviously don’t steal anyone’s full art pieces but this is a really valuable to break down art in a way that makes sense for you and create your own style from what you learn. this is a perfect video to show How to study styles/artists you admire

    • @AZ-zz4kn
      @AZ-zz4kn ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Yeah, it’s a great way to learn from other artists and take inspiration to develop your style. Though, as an artists, it does feel weird when you trace over other artist’s work😅. But as long as you aren’t claiming the work as yours and giving credit where it’s due, I think it’s fine. Plus in his video, it’s clearly for educational purposes

    • @sisanity3614
      @sisanity3614 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, any "real" artist out there wouldn't want to steal someone works claim it thier art if an artist want an improvement this video is what they need, finding what comfortable for you such as line art style,coloring style would driving you addictive and wanted to create or recreate someone art out your own style that's what beautiful about artist.

    1:59, to answer your question on the little triangles, its like a deepened area of the stomach if that makes sense. The lower part of the triangle is where the bones for the hip is and the upper parts of the triangle is where the fat of the overall stomach is. The reason why its dark around that area is because it is the area with the least fat: its gonna be deepened (?) and will have shadows around it. As well as your other question on why there is shading towards to centre of the stomach, it's likely just the shadows refining the stomach muscle.

    Just stumbled on this and gotta hand it to you man this is so useful. There are hundreds of talented artists showing their work and probably another 20 dropping amazing tutorials. But as a beginner who doesn't know what they are doing utilizing tutorials correctly and learning how to best study/practice is very difficult, even for basics.
    For example I want to draw better poses so I do all the generic studies with clear 3d forms (rectangular prisms for rib cage, head, hips) and gesture studies but the improvement feels so slow. I cannot find the best way to practice, like duh I need practice but how can I streamline that process?
    This video helps answer that question (for bellies) and its super awesome, subbed for sure.

    It's funny how I slowly figured out myself that I should use several shadow layers for different kinds of shadows. Kinda proud of myself. But I should really start learning from pros more - there's no need to reinvent the wheel and if I learned it from some reliable source, it would've been obvious to me months ago.
