Hello the grain is added using 50% gray on overlay then grain. It's a very old technique people use. Since at 50% grey on overlay the value will not change at all and so does color since it is grey on overlay. Only the grain will show up after filter since the grain have different value than 50% grey
OK in case you wonder why do this. The reason is that you can lower or increase the strength of the noise using "just" the opac slider without affect anything and only the noise
frrrrrr, i used to follow along to learn traditional things like proportions and perspective but somehow i never thought to do the same thing for digital concepts
she has mastered all the fundamentals and utilized it to an extent that in a 100 years I cant imagine to draw like her, the flow, dynamic, energy, balance,...
5:51 the layer she was using is the color balance layer in CSP; it basically allows you to control the colors in shadows, half-tones, and highlight. it's very useful if you feel your image is ruled by one strong color(think: an image filter), playing around with it can drastically change the...well, balance of colors in the image!
You're sooo talented. Your replica looked so similar to hers. Wow. Also a million people have said this but your channel is so underrated. I learn so much from you
I love how you aren't saying you're "fixing the art" or making it better. I find it cool how you only follow along for a study and not calling it completely original art that you did. This is really informative and helped me a lot with my art! :D
bro i cant fathome how you manage to study Yoneyamai work in depth and managed to ouput a great artwork from it. this analysis video is my new thing now
This is so cool and it's really interesting for a beginner artist like me to be exposed to something that seems simple but has a huge impact on the art itself
A tip I can suggest toward people is to start with thin lineart and then thicken the lines as you go. Even when doing copy drawings, if you try to immediately replicate the same thick lines as the original, you may accidentally go overboard and be forced to erase. However, this can ruin some parts. So by starting with thin lines and thickening them as you progress, you can view what the thick lines do to the whole image rather than just that isolated part for that moment.
Mate, you are everything I have felt when I tried to do imitation studies of my favourite artists. This is really well laid out studies, and I am truly encouraged and motivated by your studies.
you're seriously very talented and your videos are so informative, not many artists will show their layer process, that gives me a hard time as i self learn digital art myself and i have zero to no idea on how to manage the layers in my art, you're seriously so good! thank you !!
this is me, I love playing racing games and occasionaly make a livery for one of the cars. neither am I good at drawing, nor do I know anything more than the most basic stuff in photoshop. yet here I am. Watching almost all videos of you explain how artists use different features of photoshop in a category I will propably never touch. going frame by frame to see what you did only to perfect a single line, on a virtual car, that will be seen by only a handful of people. I will propably try to draw along one of these videos at some point, once I feel more comfortable with everything. Thank you for doing these videos! I feel like I get better by the second
You are seriously amazing, I started analizing some artist´s videos but couldnt make head or tails from those processes. Now after seeing your vids I think Ive got a better grasping and surely will get better.
Yoneyama Mai's art style is so unique. I've been loving it ever since i first saw it. I found myself scrolling through their arts (on yt, pinterest and so on). Ty for this, i'd def try practicing this style and see if it inspires mine:)
Its always very interesting To watch artists like you trying other artists art style and see the „behind the scene“ of the drawings! I learn alot watching your videos! Thanks Man
I am taking my time watching your videos... don't understand many things but I am learning so much. Even as a beginner these are incredible help. Thanks.
Love, love the analysis of the colors. I wouldn't have been able to realize there was a method to the color picking had you not explained it. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the study and tips!! Curves are so powerful, you can try using LUTs as well for finishing the render! What makes the piece SO GOOD though is the basics of perspective and lighting. Amazing work from yoneyama 😩👌👌👌
Yoneyama Mai's art is so good. I really try so hard to draw like her but I always failed. Mostly because I don't know what to do after one step to another.. When I draw, it's usually sketch > lineart > color > shade > lightning. And that is just never make my art looks good, in fact my art looks so terrible the more I look at it. I never actually satisfied with my own art, but I don't know where to fix it. It's always "just add this and it should be good" but turned out it looks bad lol
oh man this is cool, I did a draw along with this same video a few months ago too, haha. I got impatient pretty early on though and didn't follow through with it like you did. Nice video! It seems like you can learn a lot from trying to copy the process from one of these videos that pro artists publish.
Omg I'm soo glad I found your channel , I tried following along with artist but it's hard for me cuz I'm a beginner , your explanations are really helpful 💕
I noticed that there really 2 processes that popular artists use. The line, base then render ,ethos or the painterly one layer painting method. Both are valid and all other process styles essentially a blend of the two. I lean on the line art side but starting to get used to painterly because you get to do Matt painting and photo bashing and making the materials a part of your blocking process. Very interesting stuff. Great video as usual
I honestly don't really know much about skin coloring and color theory as well lol. I was just painting in the same way as the original pic. But I'll see what I can do for a future vid!
She was clearly (I think) using an auto action on clip studio which is a system that save your hue, saturation and other. And when you clic generate it will create different file of what was save by yourself. Or mb she download an auto action made by someone and use it because we can download it too
What I feel this series fails to mention, is how regardless of the knowledge of any of these tools and strategies you have, it still comes down to the personal view and creativity of the artist, none of the things done here are revolutionary, they are as bare ones as they come, but it's how she used them
Binging through all your videos right now and really loving them. I wish I could paint half as good as any artist presented here and my red/green and blue/purple color blindnesses aren't exactly helping, but it's really inspiring nevertheless.

ahhhh I see thank you!

I don’t understand
i just got the 50% grey part ,....welp
wait, so the whole point of this video is just to add noise?
Yoneyama Mai's art looks unique always, thats why they are one my favorite artist
the copy practice looks almost identical, looks great!
thank you!
;)
@@tppoart bro you have insane drawing skills. Dont underestimate yourself.
I'm having a hard time trying digital art. Following along with artists never crossed my mind, this is an amazing idea.
yeahhh give it a try! Surprisingly informative and it's actually fun to do

I wish my favourite artist uploaded speed paints😭
she has mastered all the fundamentals and utilized it to an extent that in a 100 years I cant imagine to draw like her, the flow, dynamic, energy, balance,...
I did not expect you to do a video on yoneyama mai since her style is very unique and honestly hard to follow
yeahhh I love her style! I think this video was somewhat simpler compared to her latest artworks, so I thought that this was a good starting point
Being able to breaking it down and explain it in a simple way to understand, you re amazing my friend! Love to see more of your video❤
Thank you

Awesome process + free psd files , this man is generous
your attempt is almost identical to the original 😱and I learn a lot xD
😉
I feel the inhale and self-loathing afterwards so much XD. I always do that whenever I do something and it always discourages me from trying harder.
