Excellent explanation. You covered almost everything.
I disagree sennheiser does base way better the the muddy base on Sony
agreed. xm5 base sounds weak compared to these
@@Alan-ko9ww there is always a soft his in Sonys noise cancelling compared to sennheiser & Bose are both silent.
@@Alan-ko9ww Yup. My XM5s cup stem snapped recently (it's not that sturdy despite careful use) so now one cup slightly dangles on my ear. Did a quick research and went with Momentum 4 - the bass is easily and comprehensively better. Played Bowie's Cat People at the shop and was surprised how much better it is. It was an immediate purchase. Will be sending the XM5s for repair - I've no idea if it can be fixed.
@eddiek8179 There's also the new Bowers and Wilkins PX7 S2e that came out less than a month ago. I heard they sound similar to the PX8 and they have stronger ANC than the Xm5. I also heard they sound way better than the Sennheiser momentum 4 and XM5. I will be ordering them and testing them out here soon.

Great review man! I've been going back and forth between these the 3's and the xm5's, going with these!
what do you think, contemplating getting them
Great review, subscribed to the channel, good to see a Canadian TH-camr! Keep up the great work! 👍🏻👍🏻
This is a great review. Absolutely love the HD quality and no blurring which always irritates me. This guy is excellent!
Hey Boolen! Thanks for an incredible review! Can these headphones play wired content and Bluetooth content at the same time?
Best review I’ve seen on these! Subbed!
Awesome, thank you!
great review! thank you so much for all the information
Glad it was helpful!
Very good review!
nice review, very detailed
Your review was the final thing that drove me to buy the Momentum 4. Thank you! I was able to catch a good deal, so instead of $400 after tax, I paid $300 (tax included). My only concern is the cabin pressure like feeling of ANC headphones in general. I hope this doesn't have too much of such pressure. All the best for my first noise canceling headphones!!!
Ebay?
@@jeanpierresoso No, it was Sweetwater during Christmas. Now I believe the price is back to normal.
@@jeanpierresoso They currently at polish amazon at around 270 Eur :)
Glad it helped. That cabin pressure feeling, you get used to it and eventually won't notice it. Pretty much all anc headphones present the same feeling due to how they try to negate surrounding noise.
Today my pair arrived, 219 UKP from the big A, (black/copper special edition). Very pleased with the sound. Wish there was a little more room for my ears, though. Still, they're not to uncomfortable. Feels like a quality product. Thanks for the good review.
hahahaha I've just ordered the very same 😀 Seems a great price!
ditto! @@JamesSmith-qs4hx
Thanks for sharing!
how is comfort compared to the wired models?
If anyone can explain or help me out that would be great, I connected my headphones to my ps5 with the creative bt-w4 Bluetooth thing , anyway, when I’m connected to my ps5 and connect the headphones to the phone also, (multipoint ) it is connected but I can never hear the audio from my phone. I try to play a song, plays for 1 second with no audio then stops, same with TH-cam. Plz help
at 2:05 the mounting point / joint of the earpiece at the right hand side of the video seems to have a crack/split. Do you confirm and should I infer that this is a very fragile spot on the headset ?
I acquired the Momentum 4 a few months ago. They are the best pair I have ever owned. Zero issues. Highly recommended. Thanks for the review.
Thank you for the honest review 👍🏼
My pleasure 😊
I finally bought the 4's after owing the 3's (and before that the originals). What an improvement ! Why ? While the 3's are a great sounding headphone, they are the most uncomfortable I have ever owned. I am a big bloke, the 3's literally crush my head. They also fry my ears with heat. I have been pretty annoyed after paying the money for the 3's and have had to take them off regularly as they are so uncomfortable. The 4's had a price drop, so I jumped and I am glad I did. I was praying they were an improvement and they are. Sound wise, the 4 are better than the 3 but the comfort level blows the 3 away. As soon as I put them on I smiled....no head crushing. The 3's are now banished to the box as a spare. The battery life is also on a whole different level. The 4's are well worth getting.
So how do they sound wired? Usb-c to usb-c, phone --> headphones.
i am considering getting these momentum 4 headphones because i want a sound quality upgrade compared to the headphones i have right now, but ive heard from a couple of reviews ive seen while doing my research that they are quite quiet compared to other headphones. i prefer very loud headphones and usually always keep my volume at 100% on every pair of headphones ive had. so if someone who has them sees this, are these headphones quiet? please help should i get these?
i cannot seem to get them to consistently stay connected to my pc, and handsfree telophony re-enables itself every time i manage to connect it.
Nice comprehensive review
Thanks!
A great Momentum 4 review!
Purchased the Momentum 4, for music they are perhaps the best I have heard in the wireless space at $400 & below. However my pair was buggy, and would keep disconnecting on plane trips and then my movie would just be on speaker playing loudly. After 1 to 3 mins they would auto reconnect. When I moved my head side to side or up or down they paused my listen experience and would not restart. When connected to 2 devices they got confused - so I sadly had to return them do to the connectivity issue; but that sound I will miss.
You say they kept disconnecting on flights. Were they connected wirelessly, or with the aux cable? I prefer wired myself, which is why I ask.
Do you know if they've updated them
@@Kinobambino ... he might be one of those who would drop a bomb and never reply ....
@@moshiyazee3034 so I fear 😔 we'll waot patiently for his return
can you please at least specify the device you were connected to? I heard a lot of BT connectivity issues with Iphones, so I wouldn't care that much.
Excellent review mate. Youve earned a sub!
Much appreciated!
After watching many reviews including this one I went for momentum 4 headphones, no regrets at all
Sound quality is the best and that's the only reason I bought
Few problems- bluetooth gets disconnected frequently
Right ear cup has all controls but all of a sudden touch controls don't operate
Have to take them off and put over again it works
Same problems
Does the white color get dirty easily?
excellent review but the base thing I have a different opinion. thank you!
Just bought these and... Theyre pretty good 👍
Don't even start with that bs. The bass of my momentum 4 goes deeper than the one on my xb900 n. So saying that the xm5 gas more bass than the m4 it's a lie. You could be more specific about the frequencies instead of just making blank comments
No wayy I have the 900N and the bass is astounding.. this comment about to make me buy the M4 right this second😂
@@Jiggy609 no brainer, you should've done that long ago. Xb900 hits harder and thicker, mo4 goes deeper and wider.
@@jasonMB999 i’ve heard the M4 have bad connection issues.. have you encountered any?
@@Jiggy609 no. Whatever issue people are talking about are most likely only present on the first couple batches that were released after launch
@@jasonMB999 thanks bro
Bro which one is better as compared xm4 and M4
M4 is wayy better
Does the audio go out of sync when you fast forward or rewind on youtube?
Always works great for me.
what is the range? How far away from source can you listen? Garden?
It's mentioned in the review.
@@Babblingbooleanuhhhhh, could've you possibly provided a worse reply? Great way to make sure you get new subs, bravo.
@@midnightsnakeoil6075 it wasn't meant to be rude or off putting but that's the entire point of me putting in a tremendous amount of work into these videos. Watch the review and then ask questions for me and the TH-cam community. Otherwise coming to my reviews has no purpose and a more efficient approach would be to ask questions on a forum site since the video wasn't watched.
Another thing to consider is my tight schedule and multiple ongoing device tests. It gets difficult to remember all these numbers. I'm currently battery testing 2 other headsets as I write this.
Lastly as far as I researched, hardly any reviewers (including major publications) do a single full battery drain test, they're just in a rush to post their review online first.
That's the type of dedication I provide to appeal to potential subscribers. If they don't like that I take time to test devices, no harm and they don't have to subscribe.
How do these compare to the B&W PX8??
Can't say, haven't used those.
PX8 sound quite muffled and veiled compared to Momentum 4.
PX7 sounds more open than PX8 but Momentum 4 is still one class above.
Best sound on any over ear ANC under 700 € I've ever tested. I guess only the high end class (T+A, Mark Levinson, Focal) will deliver even more...
I have both the xm5 & M4, unless my ears a re failing me but the M4 totally smokes the xm5in the bass department...
And the Momentum 4 smokes them both soundwise in every aspect including bass. Except, of course, one prefers this muddy and sluggish wobbling of the Sonys. Even properly EQ'd with Poweramp the Sonys are no match for the Momentum 4.
Sad but true - Sony is highly overrated.
There's two new colors for the Sennheiser momentum 4. Denim and black copper.
The non repleacable hear cup are a bit out a downer, sure they are soft and great, but what do you do when they wear out?
There are replacements, he showed it in the video.
I have got these as well and in my opinion, the noise cancelling is really bad. Other than that, they are great
Edit: The Headphones had a little spot where they weren’t attached properly. For that reason, their Noise Cancelling was very bad. After I fixed that, the Noise Cancelling turned out great and I can highly recommend them.
Hello, can you give us more information about the detached spot? Thank you!
Yeah where is the spot?
@@jeanpierresoso at the top of the headphone
The Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones offer excellent audio quality for music. However, they may not be the best choice for video calls or meetings, particularly in an open office environment, as the microphone tends to pick up surrounding noises, including conversations from colleagues. Additionally, they are not suitable for sports activities due to overheating issues. It would be beneficial for Sennheiser to consider reintroducing physical buttons for volume and other controls.
hi sir Sennheiser momentum4 for special Audio Plus 360 surrounded audio availability
Are this Better than the Bose 700 ?
I would say so
My reply might be bias since in a huge Sennheiser sound signature fan.
I listened to the demo ones. Which doesn't do justice. Because the demo settings they have the best tracks that help the headphone. But still I really loved the Sennheiser Momentum 4.
IMO the Bose 700 had an artificial touch on the highs. Doesn't sound natural like Sennheiser.
shud i get these or sony xm5 or bose qc ultra(last resort)
A Really Excellent Review !
Thanks for watching
I have a Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless headphone. I use it when it's hot or for casual running, but unfortunately, the headphones eventually get moist from sweat. The problem is, the Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANC) seems to stop working after the first bit of sweat. It's disappointing that headphones costing over $400 aren't even mildly water-resistant, especially since sweating is a normal part of exercise. Even DJs can get wet from jumping and dancing!
Aside from the sweat issue, the overall quality feels lacking. The sound is the only truly good aspect of these headphones. The ability to pair with two Bluetooth devices seems like a useful feature, but in practice, it's unreliable. You get noises and glitches whenever the second device connects or receives sound, and the audio quality suffers badly when both devices are playing. The ANC itself also feels ineffective.
In essence, you're paying a premium price for just the good sound quality. Everything else, from the software to the build quality, feels cheap. There are other headphone brands out there that offer excellent sound along with better features and durability. This particular model just isn't worth the money.
I collapsed my Momentum2 in order to put them into my backpack --> they get very compact when collapsed
These have an issue with its connectivity... to certain generations of modern iPhone.
USB A -> C is a pro in my opinion, my devices don't have much USB C ports
bro said sony base is better when everyone says it's worse
Not everyone….he’s correct…Sony does have better bass!!
💀
@@ProudBostoniani m sure you bought xm5 and regret it. So now you just guilt tripping
They are good when they work. If they break, you are stuck with the virtually non-existent customer service and aftermarket support. Good luck!
Momentum 4's do be heavy as f.. my noodle neck cant handle this unit longer then 2 hours
Noodle neck? 😅
@@SoberHusky yeah man anything heavier then bose headphones will create an uncomfortable feeling in my neck after 2 hours lol
@@sem5296 I feel you...got neck issues as well.
Bought a pair of these and there shocking. The sound is great but the left ear crackles to the point of them being unusable. This is a massive issue that hundreds of people have and sennheiser has done nothing about it. Hopefully can get them refunded and buy a pair of Sony’s like i should have done in the first place.
Yeah, mine constantly turn off and turn on
@@purpoo939might be the sensor that doesn’t realize you still have them on so it pauses the audio
Switch to personalised sound … you’ll thank me later.
Babaloon😂
No they ar not amazing at all
why
How can you trust a man that lets his wife shout at him everyday and think the bass on the xm5s is better 😂😂😂😂😂
😂
