gus is actually called GUY HAHAHAH!! one typo when typing out the characters on my phone and i lived in that delulu forever even though i would constantly be reading "Guy" in the book my brain was like ✨no, Gus hehe✨
There is such tension between me wanting desperately to watch this video vs. me wanting to experience this book without knowing anything (not out where I am yet) I dont know what to do, a Sophie’s choice
I was convinced that “Luke” wasn’t the one who died to begin with. I thought he had switched places with someone else again. I’m still hoping we get a second book that debunks Guy being the killer and reveals that the body wasn’t even Luke. That’s the ending I needed!!!
love the video ❤❤❤ whenever you mention fair play murder mystery I can't help thinking how much you'll love Everyone in my family has killed someone, since it's told following the commandments of fair play in the Golden Age of mysteries, and has so much drama and campiness to it. It's set at a ski resort so it could be a perfect winter read!
I totally called it from the beginning of the book because I knew it would be the most ridiculous ending. Also agree with you about the final twist re:the sister.
Spoilers: I saw a theory that Wilson and Luke have the same hair and build, so luke killed Wilson to inherit his grandparent's money and moved to Africa. Face was slashed, so couldn't identify him properly. Luke could have put his jacket on Wilson's body. I still think Luke is alive, impersonating as Wilson and blaming the murder on Guy. Remember, Amelie never confirmed or vocalised that her brother was the one who murded luke
SPOILERS!! | Mann, this was my theory until the end because all hell was loose. Come to think of it-it's raining so 10 y/o Guy would probably not recognize if it's really 'Luke'. When everything was out in the open, the impersonator's sister (Rebecca, that red-haired woman Bill is looking at) killed Guy and made it look like a heart attack to keep his silence. But... it's still possible that Ian was telling the truth and Jonah's sister avenged her brother by killing poor Guy in the end. At the end of the day, big sisters are always there for their little bros.
SPOILERS . . . I thought the imposter Luke would turn out to be Caroline's first child and that the difference in age was just due to the imposter being two years younger than the real Luke. Now THAT would have been a wild twist. Anyway this was super fun! Logan Lerman as a killer would truly be PEAK. Looking forward to Christmas and the next episode!
I just finished the book yesterday and for a few pages I had the exact same thought. I was so scared and confused that they were in a relationship. Glad that wasn't true omg
I love videos like this because I don't like reading or watching anything about murders but I want to know how the plot works and this gives me the best of both worlds.
Loved the video. More than that, loved the experience of reading the book and stoping at the end of every chapter to listen to your summary and theories. Lately had some difficulty enjoying thrillers/murder mysteries/crime novels and this book (in my opinion) was still not as good as it promissed but the hole experience of reading and watching the video was excellent. I did thought of Guy as the murderer a couple of times, and I did think that he probably would not remmember it, but I can't say I feel like I solved it because I never actually thought it would be the kind of ending I wanted so I always dismissed it. Looking foward to doing it again.
First off.. I love this video concept! Well done! I really hope you do more like it. And thank you!! I bought this book because I wanted to read along with your video. I loved the book and I actually solved the murder!!! I knew who did it by page 74 and even guessed the weapon!! I never guess right, so I'm very excited! Love your channel!!
i just read the book and watched your video update meanwhile. Omg, i had so similar theories! You completely disrupted my plans for the day but i really enjoyed so i forgive haha
This book wasn't even on my radar but this was too fun to pass up! There're so many questions left unanswered 😭 I did not predict the murderer correctly either but I do have the theory that Jonah's sister was grandma Howard's nurse (Sylvia Carrol) and that they recognised each other when he visited as 'Luke'. And then she killed Guy as revenge
I still have questions!: Where was Amanda going when she crashed? Who was the father of Caroline's baby? What was the call that Rupert took at the reunion dinner? Why did Caroline have mud in her shoes?
The father of caroline‘s baby was most likely her high school boyfriend. And the mud on her shoes most likely came from that smoking area phylicia told about.
I read this book along with you and loved it. Believe it or not the killer was my first theory! I wrote it in my notes app and then pretty much forgot about it, went on a wild ride and then the reveal… I couldn’t believe it got it!!
I waited for the book to come out in North America so i could watch this video, but I got bored in the first chapter and came to watch you try to solve it instead lol. I was right: it was much more fun watching you solve it than actually reading it!
I love these videos. However, I felt like the mystery once again wasn't very fair play. It was still enjoyable watching you try to solve the book. I would love to see you try and solve more in the future.
Thought of you when listening to None of this is True by Lisa Jewel bc the audiobook is a full cast and has the podcast element done so well!!!! 5 🌟 read for me!!!
I decided to put down my theory when you did. Feeling pretty vindicated but was a little off and since none of my friends have read it, putting it here. SPOILER!! My theory was that the girls resented him but seemed to shrug him off for most part. Gus very clearly disliked him. What if he pushed him down the stairs and the girls came home and beat his face into oblivion to make it look like a murder. To protect Gus. It obviously slipped my mind that it was the face-bashing was the cause of death. Still feeling kinda good about it though.
These videos are hilarious, keep them coming though they consume all your brain power they're so fun for us. I have zero interest in this type of murder mystery books, your videos make them fun..and the casting choices always on point 😁
Okay, I haven't read this book and I'm at the end of episode one in the video, but I'm going to make some predictions. Note: I'm one of those people who always think they know who the murderer is and then get angry at the author for giving us the wrong murderer when I'm wrong. I will try not to rant on here if the author gets it wrong. So, my thoughts: The wife is a bit too obvious and she has a lot of red flags around her already, so I don't think it's her. Again, haven't read it, but Rupert being described as a jerk automatically takes him off my suspect list because it's never the jerks. They either get in the way of the investigation or decide they know what happened and treat people accordingly. I think it was the 15 year old who found the body (Mora, can't see the murder board well enough). My main reason is because she is (I think) closer in age to the victim and they may have a hard time getting along or may get along too well. . . Also, if we're throwing any of the investigators under the bus, I think it'll be the Psychiatrist. She either worked with the victim or his killer and is now feeling guilty that she didn't act before he was murdered. Just my thoughts, I have no idea if any of it is true, but will finish the video now. Edit: Well then . . . That happened. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who has gotten to the end, but I feel like that ending has become the norm that it is a cliche now. Logistically, I don't know how it could of been possible in this case, with the way Luke died. I swear every mystery I've watched in the past few years has done some variation on this ending and it's not shocking to me anymore. Disappointed.
SPOILERS I knew it would be Guy or Amelie. Amelie is just so the most sus character ever but at one point I was like I bet it’s Guy trying to blame someone else. I didn’t think he had memory loss so that was a shock however I did think he killed him. 10 year olds can be crazy
End of episode one - them sisters be suspicious. I feel like somethings going on there. 🕵️♀️ think Mitch is now too obvious- but Hugo had Eton connections (where Rupert went) sooooo I’m also suspicious of him.
Okay I’ve finished episode two and three - I keep coming back to the review from the TV critic at the very start comparing it to And Then They Were None/ Agatha Christie- I bet they are all involved and this is why they’ve been pulled into it
Okay episode five and six - JJ is the baby. Calling it - he said he was a Brummie! My spidey senses are tingling. But I think it’s something to do with Hugo or the girls.
Is rebecca the sister of real luke or fake luke? Because if she's fake/australian luke's sister she doesn't have a reason to kill gus, and if she's real canadian luke's sister why would she then take the watch and drop it in australia? 🧐
Yeah, at the very end in the news article that tells us of Guy's 'suicide' it says that a redhead nurse with glasses was seen entering the house at the time he died (i.e. exact description of Jonah/Luke's sister). So she killed him as revenge and took his expensive watch to her brother's grave as a tribute
Americans- just order from Waterstones. Takes a few days. I love having an account there for when the UK releases are way ahead of US. This video was too much fun! Do more!
I just finished the book! And i can proudly say that I’ve solved it 🥹 All that time spent on reading Christies finally paid off. Anyway, I quite like how the book ended. I would love to see more of this as a series since I got no one to talk to about fictional mysteries ☺️
gus is actually called GUY HAHAHAH!! one typo when typing out the characters on my phone and i lived in that delulu forever even though i would constantly be reading "Guy" in the book my brain was like ✨no, Gus hehe✨
could this become a series! the premise of reading a book alongside you is so fun!
There is such tension between me wanting desperately to watch this video vs. me wanting to experience this book without knowing anything (not out where I am yet) I dont know what to do, a Sophie’s choice
Had same problem. Decided to hold off and read in bits and watch in bits, through each section. Fun!!
If it helps, the video is way better than the book. 📖
I was convinced that “Luke” wasn’t the one who died to begin with. I thought he had switched places with someone else again. I’m still hoping we get a second book that debunks Guy being the killer and reveals that the body wasn’t even Luke. That’s the ending I needed!!!

And yet ironically, it wasn’t fair play at all. 😂
I can’t get over the celebrity fan casting for these characters 😂😂❤ will Ferris and Michael c’era took me out

Love this. But whats the evidence on page for it?

Thats the ending I was hoping for!!! I really hope we get a sequel!!!!!
2 mins in and the DRAMA - I'm obsessed. you deserve an oscar
I just finished this book so I am excited to finally be able to watch this
You should try solving Cain’s Jawbone! That one’s a nightmare I didn’t get far! 😂 maybe u can! 🤩 good luck if u do try it!
You are so unserious I love it.
You make solving murder mysteries look so fun!
Read the book along with you throughout the video - so much fun! Thanks for making these.
This was so much fun, Meg!

I watched this video in between reading the book and absolutely loved the experience. More videos like this please!!

I CALLED IT. I read along with you and I am actually shocked I guessed right early on. Pretty much the first chapter. SHOOK
This is amazing Meg! I love it! Cara x
I suspected who it was before I even read 80 pages and turned out to be correct. Absolutely loved this video, please do more of these
finished this book about ten minutes ago let’s goooo, i can’t wait to see how you found the book and solving it!!!
sorry to be that person but wasn’t his name guy howard, not gus howard?? 😅

This was such a fun video!! And you look like you were having so much fun making it 🥹
Loved reading this and checking in each episode! Made such a great reading experience! Thankyou for your content! ❤

Such a amazing vídeo, i love it meg!
Girl this B-roll had be ROLLING oh my god
i loved this book for the mixed media! I did guess exactly what happened after about 10 pages but it was still fun lol
I made my prediction at the start as a goof but wow I can't believe I'm actually a crime solving genius 💆♀️
How inept were these cops that didn't check the washer for clothes for blood???
I solved it, not because of the clues, but I figured that’d be the “biggest, unsuspecting twist”
Yes you’re right about the sister thing!
Y’know, maybe you’d solve “The Westing Game”, it’s very fair-play!
This was the best! 😂🎉
I love these videos. However, I felt like the mystery once again wasn't very fair play. It was still enjoyable watching you try to solve the book. I would love to see you try and solve more in the future.

Yes, I have read it and thoroughly enjoyed it. And no, I didn’t solve it, but like you I had it down to one of the sisters.
This video was more entertaining to me than reading the actual book. 👀
Fake Luke was the killer is how I read it and he smashed the face in so he couldn’t be identified
Not Gus 😂😂😂
How tf do a 10 year old beat a grown man’s face in how does that happen???? That’s a glaring plot hole to me it doesn’t make sense
He wasn’t the killer depending on how you take the last reveal
Luke was unconscious. He'd slipped and was knocked out
@@matthampton8692 Ooo wait can you expand on that? I haven't read the book myself and I'm curious
@@matthampton8692i honestly don’t understand the last part about watch.. if you have any theories, please tell me.. I’m really curious… 😢

They really did cast the whole of sex education in Barbie huh
