Imran mentions a story about a match in his earlier career where Sarfraz who was never in good terms with captains n teammates, told Imran to tell the captain not to take new ball, wen it was due. Imran told captain, but captain was 'frustrated' and commented in a 'bad' manner. It was either Mushtaq or Asif. Sarfraz wanted reverse swing from old ball 😊
This incident is 25 years old. I was bowling with a partially scuffed tennis ball to a "state level " batsman (I was told) that I later learnt was playing for Maharashtra!! He was playing well in that match(well settled and played a couple of overs of mine as well). And then I , left handed, came round the wicket and bowled a fast delivery that drifted down late&swift and swung prodigiously and got him clean bowled!! I thought it was a Yorker(as I used to bowl a lot of Yorkers). On reflection, it was reverse swing!! Waqar Younis says, it is a well known practice in Pakistan domestic cricket!! It must have been accidentally found out(like it happened with me)!!! [If a top class batsman couldn't handle the reverse swing from me, then forget about handling it from the likes of Waqars and Aktars of the world!!]
Thanks for the clarification, bro. I was thinking I should've researched a bit more. All the research that I did was pointing out sarfraz nawaz as a bowler who started reverse swing. So Fazal mehmood was possibly the first pakistani fast bowler?
