Keep in mind that the Creation story was carried by oral tradition long before Moses wrote it down. When he wrote it down, it was to teach people who just escaped slavery. It is written in a way that even a child can understand it. If you really study the Creation story, the order the events occurred are not in contradiction to science. For example, plants had to exist first, to produce oxygen for animals that appeared later: first from the sea, then birds, then mammals. It's quite fascinating.

Hello. I am an atheist. I define atheism as the practice of suspending the acknowledgement of the existence of gods until sufficient evidence can be presented. My position is that *_I have no good reason to acknowledge the existence of gods._* And here is the evidence as to why I currently take such a position. 1. I personally have never observed a god. 2. I have never encountered a person whom has claimed to have observed a god. 3. I know of no accounts of persons claiming to have observed a god that were willing to demonstrate or verify their observation for authenticity, accuracy, or validity. 4. I have never been presented a valid logical argument which employed rationally sound premises that lead deductively to a conclusion that gods exist. 5. Of the 46 logical syllogisms I have encountered arguing for the existence of a god(s), I have found all to contain multiple fallacious or unsubstantiated premises. 6. I have never observed a phenomenon in which the existence of a god was a necessary antecedent for the known or probable explanation for the causation of that phenomenon. 7. Dozens of proposed (and generally accepted) explanations for observable phenomena that were previously based on the agency of a god(s), have subsequently been replaced with rational, natural explanations, each substantiated with evidence that excluded the agency of a god(s). I have never encountered _vice versa._ 8. I have never experienced the presence of gods through intercession of angels, revelation, fulfillment of prophecy, the miraculous act of divinity, or any observation of a supernatural event. 9. Every phenomena that I have ever observed has emerged from necessary and sufficient antecedents over time without exception. In other words, I have never observed a phenomenon (entity, process, object, event, process, substance or being) that was created instantly by the solitary volition of a deity. 10. All claims of a supernatural or divine nature that I have encountered have either been refuted to my satisfaction, or do not present as falsifiable. ALL of these facts lead me to the only rational conclusion that concurs with the realities I have been presented - and that is the fact that there is, *_no good reason_* for me to acknowledge the existence of gods. I have heard often that atheism is the denial of the Abrahamic god. But denial is the active rejection of a substantiated fact once credible evidence has been presented. Skepticism (atheism) is simply withholding such acknowledgement until sufficient credible evidence is introduced. It is natural, rational and prudent to be skeptical of unsubstatiated claims, especially extraordinary ones. I welcome any cordial response. Peace.
I was at this lecture. Frank does a fantastic job of presenting his points and answering questions. He is possibly alluding to the gap theory...a.period of time during creation in which millions or billions of years happen. He is correct...science and the Bible don't contradict...it's usually scientists and preachers who butt heads with each other.
Interesting. Can you explain the gap theory? And how does this explain creationists attesting that the world was made in 6 days when math 🧮 has it at 13.8 Billion? Even if one said that from our perspective, and that lightyears were sped up from God's perspective and that it was 13.8B years and from God’s it was 6 days, Genesis 1:1 still implies that there was an Earth (and Plants!) before the Sun (light) so I am curious to hear your thoughts?
@@chuka2005 The gap theory, in a very basic nutshell, states that there is a gap in time between the days in Genesis. Things were created in the order set forth in Genesis, but there were millions of years which existed before the modern world came to be. Dinosaurs existed millions of years ago, as well as the flora of that time, but this amount of time had to happen, along with the extinction of certain organisms and continental drift, for it to become what we see today.
@@williamcarrollbroome8097 thanks for the response; although Genesis 1 says there was light and vegetation before there were stars (the sun), so is it really the order in which things were created? Curious to hear your thoughts.
@user-mz1bi4xz6r thanks for the response. So can you answer me this then - when we say Genesis isn't to be taken literally, is that to say that Adam/Eve are also poetic? That will be tough because Jesus' lineage traces back directly to Adam. With that, what's your understanding of how Adam and Eve connect with "the first men", i.e. homo erectus and homo sapiens who were around way longer than 7000 years ago?
Genesis very precisely descirbes the length of a day. The light called the day, and the darkness night, and the evening and the morning were the first day. The evening and the morning were the second day, and the third day and so on. A day is one evening and one morning long, which we know today as a 24 hour period.
But according to Jewish tradition it was 12 hours in day. Plus notice that earth and the Heaven were formed BEFORE God made the lights in the sky that separated the day. God’s evening and morning were not established as a day until the 4th day. God doesn’t describe the length of a day but gives us signifiers to understand how to separate what is considered a day. At the end of the day lol this question it seems was designed to not be answered while we were on earth because how can man constrict a timeless God and His method of creation to time as if He operates under time? And under our time at that because all cultures had different versions and interpretations on how to count the time between evening and morning.
@@ServantStatusMinistries i think you or the jews missed what jesus actually said, “jesus answered, Are there not 12 hours in the *day*? Great answer! It’s also important to understand God is supernatural (literally outside and above nature). He created the laws that govern our natural environment, therefore, he operates outside the boundaries of what natural science can explain although he can also use nature. Very cool 😎
Colby Jensen, it means that he existed before the world we know existed. Just like a video game programmer has to create the physics within the game he creates, the physics of this world had to be created.
Colby Jensen our existence is, because we exist in this physical plain which was created by God. All we can experience on a natural level is what our five senses can detect. The spiritual realm is supernatural and operates by a very different set of laws.

I would have to say that although I truly appreciate your position in defending the faith, I must admit that in this particular case you have taken extreme measures to stretch the Biblical account of creation in Scripture. In the beginning, God created the heavens and Earth. That is the initial introduction. The following is a description of the account of creation, ending with the Lord consecrating the seventh day, therefore verifying the very validity of a literal seven day period. We need not twist Scripture to appease disbelief. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
He doesn't actually twist scripture. If you read the beginning of Genesis, it very clearly separates "creating the heavens and the earth" and then comes in the 6 days. You can choose to interpret it as an introduction, but the interpretation of it being a separate even is also completely valid.
He said the speed of light being constant is a good assumption otherwise even science time would be uncertain. Well recently the speed of light was allowed down to a stand still by scientist. Also it was found that vacuum indeed had friction that slows down light over long distances. Also it's a week known fact in astronomy that we can't measure beyond 3260 light years due to limited in geometry. Anything beyond that is a guess and stars beyond this distance are measured by brilliance. But this assumes all stars to have the same brightness and size. This isn't true as there are many different star sizes and brightnesses.
Genesis 1:3 "And there was evening, and there was morning - the first day." Genesis 1:8 "And there was evening, and there was morning - the second day." Genesis 1:13 "And there was evening, and there was morning - the third day." ...and so on. Surely theres no disagreement that "there was evening, and there was morning" constitutes the end of a day? So by the Bible's own description, how can Genesis 1:12-31 not be six days, which are made up of six evening and six mornings?
You're right, I think people don't understand that the power of God can never be comprehended. Science follows the laws of nature but God goes against them sometimes for example, the Moses crossing the red sea. Trying to explain everything God did by science is almost impossible as some miracles are incomprehensible with facts but only require faith
Yeess, but, I still think that a christian should be researching science a bit. Or may be not "should" but I do think that it would be good. You get what I mean (right?).
I'm not agree with this answer: because we think that science get the truth about the age or the story of the earth but it's not and we're trying to adjust the writing's of the truth in that other truth but it can't be. Science does not contradict 'cause it' s simply wrong.
It's easy: it was written in Hebrew. And it has another philosophy behind it. While western people document everything in chronological order,( which we adopted from the greeks) hebrew is an asian language. For them it was totally normal to document stories like this. Google anchient hebrew org
I have to disagree with Dr. Frank Turek on this point. Yes, we all have views, rather the Earth is 4.3 or so billions of years old, or 6 literal 24-hour days if you take the literal Word of God. This is where the problem lies. People inserts science in the Bible first before going to the Bible to see what it says. We inject our theories of something that we were not there to observe, than to listen to the One who has been there and has written it down for us to know. The Bible does state that there were 6 days in Genesis. But what does it mean by the word "Day?" Like what Dr. Frank has said, the word "Day" have multiple meanings. Here is an example: Back in my father's day, it took 3 days to drive my car across the country in the day. There are 3 meanings to the word "Day." "Back in my father's day" is a reference of time or era. "It took 3 days" which are 24 hour days. "To drive my car across the country in the day" is a reference to the sunlight portion of the day, which was around 12 hours. So which one is it? It all depends on context where it was used in and the key markers to define it. What do I mean by key markers? There is a certain phrase that appears after each day (with the exception of the 7th day). "The evening and morning were the 1st day." Did you know that the Hebrew word "yom," which means day, appeared over 2,500 times in the Old Testament? And the majority of them are referencing 24 hour days. Check this out: Day + Number - 410 times = Always an ordinary day Evening and Morning together with Day - 38 time = Always an ordinary day Evening or Morning with Day - 23 each = Always an ordinary day Night with Day - 52 times = Always an ordinary day So with that in mind, let's look at Genesis 1. Day 1: Evening, Morning, Number, Day Day 2: Evening, Morning, Number, Day Day 3: Evening, Morning, Number, Day Day 4: Evening, Morning, Number, Day Day 5: Evening, Morning, Number, Day Day 6: Evening, Morning, Number, Day The Bible is clear that the days in Genesis was ordinary days, just out of context alone and using the Bible to define what a day is. And if the days were long periods, then the Bible is fallible and shouldn't be trusted. Think about it for a moment. Where do we get our week from? We get our day from the rotation of the Earth. We get our month from the relationship between the Earth and the Moon. And we get our year from the relationship between the Earth and the Sun. There is no astronomical observations on where we get our week from, except for 6 days (And the 7th day) of creation. "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy." Exodus 20:9 - 11 God said to work 6 days and to rest on the 7th. Why would that be? Because it is in the relation of what God did in Genesis 1. If each of the days were millions of years or a different era, wouldn't it be a very weird work week? You work for 1 day and rest for a few million years. So by the Bible, it is clear that the Earth was created in 6 days, not millions or billions of years ago.
Probably True, probably not. But I agree that it is most likely the case based on the usage of that hebrew word but who knows, we will never knew in this life time.
@@JohnMark-yh4br Like I said before, take it in context. If it is other than 7 days, it is in complete contradiction of Exodus 20:9 - 11. Let the Bible define itself.

@Paul Morgan no I caught that just fine. I was just curious what happened to your complete thought. All your connecting words. One way to begin studying basic sentence structures is to consider the traditional parts of speech (also called word classes): nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. Except for interjections ("ouch!"), which have a habit of standing by themselves, the parts of speech come in many varieties and may show up just about anywhere in a sentence. To know for sure what part of speech a word is, we have to look not only at the word itself but also at its meaning, position, and use in a sentence. The basic parts of a sentence are the subject, the verb, and (often, but not always) the object. The subject is usually a noun-a word that names a person, place, or thing. The verb (or predicate) usually follows the subject and identifies an action or a state of being. An object receives the action and usually follows the verb.
@Paul Morgan A common way of expanding the basic sentence is with modifiers-words that add to the meanings of other words. The simplest modifiers are adjectives and adverbs. Adjectives modify nouns, while adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs. Like adjectives and adverbs, prepositional phrases add meaning to the nouns and verbs in sentences. A prepositional phrase has two basic parts: a preposition plus a noun or a pronounthat serves as the object of the preposition.

THANK YOU!!! Finally someone explains it the way I always used to tell people around me. "In the beginning" is an open-ended term and can stretch far back into an undetermined past. Besides, do we really believe that the God of the universe would orient his working day by human 24 or 12 hours or a rotation of a single planet? Seriously? I find such presumptions astounding. If you're still unsure that a day means a totally different thing to the God of the universe then read 2 Peter 3:8.
On the fourth day He put the sun, moon and stars in the _dome_ of the sky. -After making trees the day before. Genesis comes across as Flat-Earth folklore written by enthusiastic myth-makers of the age and not nearly scientific. How is it that God has never set the record straight?
Science and the Bible certainly do not contradict, however, the age of the earth is most certainly given in the Bible by using the geneologies. People may disagree now but a few decades ago most everyone believed this, both scholars of Hebrew and OT all believed that the geneologies were meant to be used like that. The Bible makes clear how long the days are by identifying them with numbers and evening and morning. If I told u that on the first day I worked, and that evening and morning were the first day, what would u think I meant? Certainly not millions of years. It is as if God knew that people would try to argue that these days were long ages and gave us a number and an evening and morning. My fellow Christians the age of the earth has great significance to the rest of the Bible and especially the Gospel. Lastly there is 0 evidence that we are still in the seventh day, none whatsoever. The Bible never says that. But if we are in the 7th day and every day of tje creation week is an age it us amazing that Adam lived through multiple ages or millions of years as he lived from day 6 all the way to day seven, I mean that is a miracle in and of itself. Sorry crossexamined I love you but u got this one wrong.
You misunderstood it. Read it again! Matthew 19:4 4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’[a] 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’[b]? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” Jesus said "at the beginning". The word "beginning" used there means "genesis" based on the context referring to the "time" (Jesus use "at") of the whole creation narrative. Jesus didn't said Adam's creation is the start. You need to understand the context when Jesus said "Haven't you read" which means the audience He was talking to should have known it - they were probably Jews.
@@emmanuelsoto2476 But there are people that never mentioned in family lineage in the biblical chronological order made on purpose. So the calculations was made based on an assumption that there was no gap in the chronological order. The Bible never mention that the age of the earth was 6,000.
No you can’t because no man knows the time span between all events happening from Adam sinning to the great floods and no man knows the times from Adam sinning to when God revealed the stories of the first five books to Moses and even then the works did not go by the Gregorian calendar we have today. Especially when you can not assume that earth when it was new and pure had the same day as earth that is dying because of sin. Perfect earth would be timeless and decaying earth would run on a different system. Plus God controls time who is to say that God didnt speed things up or slow things down where we couldn’t measure time accurately? He already said He would speed things up in the end times. We may need to update our calendar dates and systems and not even know it. The calendar has been updated many times before. So there is no way of knowing but it’s not important to know.
You remind me that I have to read the Genesis again, it's being some time now. So I may be wrong on this but we could even say that while He made Adam and Eve he could have also made more people afterwords... My point is that we can have a hole lot of assumptions that are not written / explained in the Bible but still they do not contradict it.
@@The-F.R.E.E.-J. You’re right, absence of evidence and evidence of absence are two different things. But this is evidence that it didn’t happen because we have an unbroken fossil/geologic/historic record of what happened during the time of the flood. We have Egyptian kings that fell around year after the flood- which would have been impossible given the flood happened. Essentially we have much evidence that given the flood/tower of Babel happening, we would not expect to happen. It is possible for it to have happened if God really wanted to cover it up and make it seem impossible to have occurred. Google this! It’s really interesting to learn more about it. The most interesting thing about the Bible is how it describes existence by beginning with light, then sea and skies, then land, then animals, and then man--very similar to the scientific approximation of what followed what. It's interesting how we knew to draft it that way before we had sophisticated means of paleontological study.
I think we can at least agree that miracles cannot be explained by science. Creation was miraculous. Even if you read Genesis in literal terms, being that creation spanned 6 days, one cannot simply explain that away with science, due to the miraculous nature of creation. Whether you use radiometric dating, or any other sort of analysis, anything is possible when it comes to miracles. Whether that answer satisfies an atheist or not, that is another matter.
The Big Bang cosmology originated with Father Georges Lemaitre. When the Pope suggested his theory confirms the story of Genesis, Lemaitre was openly upset. He felt science and religion are separate.
William G Genesis 1:5 shows the first day. God rested the 7th day and the Sabbath must be kept holy as God commands. The authority of the church now recognizes Sunday as the Lords Day to remember! As God in scripture prophecy’s to the Jews he will no longer recognize their sabbaths as a result of their stubbornness and steadfast disobedience. Read St. Hildegard’s treatise on creation ...she shows what the first light is which is separate from the sun, moon and starlights. Even scientists are amazed at her 1,000 year old treatise. Btw, she has the Earth in the center with the rest of the cosmos revolving around it. 👍🏻 Genesis 1:1😊👍🏻

Contradiction and hypocrisy prove people made up the Bible: *Bible Contradictions* Genesis 1:1 Adam was created on the 6th day after all plants were created. Genesis 1: 2 Adam was created before any plants were created. Genesis 1: 3 God made light on the first day. Genesis 1:16 God made the sun & stars on the 4th day. *Bible Hypocrisy* The same Bible that teaches "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", also teaches how to buy slaves, how to enslave children, how to beat the slaves, how to pass slaves on to next generation as permanent inheritance, and how to not treat relatives they way slaves are treated.
It hit me when I realized the word says to God 1000 years is like a day...and a day like 1000 years. Meaning our concept of time as humans has no bearing on the time frame God worked in. So...it is NOT unbiblical to accept what most all physical evidence tends to point to as a very old universe. I got stuck for a LONG time trying to rationalize that scripture in Genesis with what the laws of physics were indicating. Amazing moment when it came together.
Furthermore, the Bible tells us that the sun and moon were created (by God) on the fourth day. It also tells us what the sun and moon were created for: which is ... “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years," In other words, the sun and moon were created on the 4th day to help mark days and years. Therefore, if the objects with which we define days and years were not created till the 4th day, how do we estimate the length of the 1st day?? Greetings from Nigeria
@@lequsejones5384 Because time is not constructed of a simple night and day measure. It flows at night just as it does day. The universe still existed before the sun and the moon as there is a whole universe out there aside from those two things. What I am saying is that time itself still existed prior to the moon and sun.
@@melsop54 Absolutely, that is also what I'm saying. I use different vocabulary and expressions, but yes. Time existed prior to sun and moon, hence the references t time BEFORE the creation of sun and moon are not anchored to any objective unit of measurement.
7 Days make a week, 4 weeks a month, 12 months a year, 10 years a decade...1000 years a millennium. This statement only makes sense because we know exactly what a day is...24 hours....day, night, evening, morning, number, day.
Day 4 was a supernatural day. He created the sun moon and stars in one day. The light until day 4 is the light from God. He stretched out heavens. It's strange to me how some want us to think that the entire Bible's primary purpose is theological in nature except for the very beginning which is meant to be a 100% literal scientific treatise

I've always looked at it in the way that genesis is very close to what we have found by looking at the world scientifically. There are a few things that i still have to reconcile admittedly, like the sun and stars being formed after the earth, but i still have faith in what God says, who knows we might find evidence someday that proves this however unlikely it seems at this point. It could also be a transliteration difference, from tenses in different languages being brough to English but that is just a guess i haven't looked into it. But in reference to the way life is created by God i find very interesting. For example, we know that life evolved in the ocean first most likely, which is consistent with genesis. The cambrian explosion started in the ocean and is still considered a mystery how quickly basically the precursor to most animal formed. the bible also says that plants were created on land before animals, we know that has been confirmed with evolutionary biology as well, plants are what came out of the water first. Also, the reference to "birds of the air" translated from ancient hebrew, the word is oaf (not spelling that right its how it sounds phonetically) which means "flying creature or animal" roughly. The first flying animals are insects, which would have evolved around the time plants had taken hold on land. The idea that God is outside of time, and time being relative makes the days of creation make sense as well, as it even states in the bible a day is liken to 1000 years to God and vice versa, which i dont think literally means "1000" years like the young earth believers claim, but that time moves differently in our perspective than Gods. So from our perspective life was created and 4 billion years went by and evolution unfolded, but for God it was percieved instantly or in the "days" described. If you make a simulation, the time passes much differently if you play the sims or something, obviously the lives of the people in the game move much faster so you can actually play it, but if they were conscious beings time would move at a slow normally perceived state. Thanks for reading if you did :)
im almost 100% certain that ive heared a swiss theologian (roger liebi) say that the old hebrew word they used in genesis indicates literal days nothing else this stuff is so confusing i should study theology myself
He answered the question the only rational way anyone can. Scientific theories are constantly evolving as new knowledge is acquired, as better models are made. No one alive was there to see the beginning of it all, so it's all a series of mathematics, limited observations, interpretations of evidence, and so on.
@Cross Examined Plants can survive 24 hours without sunlight, but not much more. Therefore the beginning of Day 4 *HAD TO* come within 24 hours of the beginning of Day 3. There are no assumptions to this if you take God's Word at face value where it is intended to be so.
@@chrisgagnon5768 Actually, no it doesn't because I just showed the separation between plants and mankind in regards to sin. You can think that all you like but you'll be wrong the whole time you're doing so.
The whole point is that a day is just a period of time. God of the universe doesn't work on a 24 hour schedule like we do. The Universe is not 6000 years old l.
I don't hear people saying much about ZPE or zero point energy which has proved that the speed of light has slowed down at least fifty million times its rate in the last six thousand years. I wish you would update your information on this, or talk with or get Barry Setterfield's paper on it, thanks Frank, you're doing a great job outside of that though. Maranatha, I'm sure we'll find out everything one day and it won't matter a bit. We'll just say WOW!!!
The days don't begin in verse 3, right? Genesis 1:5 "God called the light “day”, and the darkness he called “night”. There was evening and there was morning, the first day." But literally, a day is a 24 hour period which is established based on the rotation of the planet. And for the side of the earth facing the sun, it is day and vice versa. The sun wasn't created until Day 4. Gen 1:14 - 19. So until Day 3, was there another source of light to divide day and night? Because for the first 3 days, it literally says, "Evening passed and the morning came". That was before the sun was created. And the earth revolves around the sun (which was created on Day 4). So until the fourth day, the earth wasn't revolving? Because the idea of the earth revolving around nothing, and later putting the sun in the middle of the path seems absurd. Or does the greater light really speak of the sun? Even the stars were created on Day 4. Sun is just one among millions of stars. Almost every star has planets orbiting them. Why wouldn't the author mention them? It seems like the entire chaper 1 was written from an earthly perspective. Confusing! Can anyone help me understand? (Since my question is often misunderstood for a critical atheist remark, I want to make this clear. I am not an atheist. I am a believer who seeks a reasonable answer.)
The days of creation were literal 24 hour days. This is confirmed in Exodus 20 v 11 'For in 6 days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea and everything in them, then he rested on the seventh day'. He created this way to set a pattern for our life. We are to work 6 days and dedicate one day to him. We are not expected to work 6 million or 6 billion years before having a break. Also why would God have given the book of genesis to his people, written to look like he created in 6 normal days when actually he meant vast ages of time? Leaving it for 20th century people to figure out the 'truth'. Why didn't he inspire Moses to write it accurately instead of misleading people. We must not be swayed by secular arguments but stick to the Word of God. If we start reinterpreting parts of the bible in light of modern fallible science then where do we stop? Science would say a man can't come back to life once dead for 3 days but on this we ignore science otherwise the whole of christianity is finished. Lets be consistent and trust His word fully.
I believe in God. I was raised catholic. But scientifically that all human beings came from 2 human beings only, adam and eve is just not possible due to our genetic diversity. However, there is an almighty power in my opinion that designed all this, human beings have not yet tied the two concepts and probably never will.
Dr Frank I greatly respect your apologetics and willingness to put yourself out there in the firing line. However I feel that you undermine your efforts by sticking to an old earth interpretation. I watched your 2011 debate with Christopher Hitchens which you clearly won, however Hitchens rightfully pointed out the inconsistency in your belief in this area - ie, God just watched us humans bumble around for 100,000 years until finally deciding to step in. Can I respectfully suggest you re-examine your thoughts on the hebrew word 'yom', hebrew scholars, secular included, believe the author meant to convey 7 literal days. Creation Ministries is an excellent resource, reaching out to them would, I believe, greatly empower your apologetics ministry. Thankyou.

Incorrect. The speed of light and the distances we can see in space prove that the universe is older that a few thousand years.

Hello. I am an atheist. I define atheism as the practice of suspending the acknowledgement of the existence of gods until sufficient evidence can be presented. My position is that *_I have no good reason to acknowledge the existence of gods._*
And here is the evidence as to why I currently take such a position.
I have never encountered _vice versa._
Each book was written in a certain period of time, you CAN T read any verse of the bible without studyng the current historical tradition, language and knowing the type of book you re reading poetry, historical, myth etcc. Also if you do not have any kind of understanding of historical text traductions ! it is easy to mess up the meanings. example When you ll read the Genesis you will find written that men were created before animals and also that men were created after animals, does that mean that bible is incorrect NO ! just the sacred author is not intersted in explaining scientifical facts, but on phylosofical moral one.
Those scared author are inspired from GOD througth what we call the holy spirit.
Trying to explain everything God did by science is almost impossible as some miracles are incomprehensible with facts but only require faith
evening could be the ending part of an epoch and the morning is the beginning part.

Check this out:
Day + Number - 410 times = Always an ordinary day
Evening and Morning together with Day - 38 time = Always an ordinary day
Evening or Morning with Day - 23 each = Always an ordinary day
Night with Day - 52 times = Always an ordinary day
So with that in mind, let's look at Genesis 1.
Day 1: Evening, Morning, Number, Day
Day 2: Evening, Morning, Number, Day
Day 3: Evening, Morning, Number, Day
Day 4: Evening, Morning, Number, Day
Day 5: Evening, Morning, Number, Day
Day 6: Evening, Morning, Number, Day
The Bible is clear that the days in Genesis was ordinary days, just out of context alone and using the Bible to define what a day is.
Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy." Exodus 20:9 - 11
God said to work 6 days and to rest on the 7th.
@@Allen_Sherry I said I agree and I believe, though we don't have much information on how fast the process of creation of the earth. God created Adam and Even within a day but humans reproduces 1 within 9 months. When God created Adam, there's a process/way He did and materials He used so I assume that the creation was created in a speed we will never know and we will never see. I believe in what the Bible said as you do despite not knowing what exactly happen and that's faith. Even scientists doesn't really know what exactly happen and just assume some attributes of the universe haven't change yet because in order to have a good understanding, they need to rely to unchangeable values.
That's a weak argument. How was God supposed to explain literal science to scientifically-illiterste Jews.
"In the Beginning, I made everything explode into existence. Then over the course of billions of years, rocks coalesced to make what you call the Earth. And the Earth went into orbit at the perfect distance from the perfectly sized star to beget life."
See how ludicrous that sounds? Genesis is a not written like a historical documentation until Abraham. That doesn't mean it's historically wrong; it means pre-Abraham stories were written to demonstrate broad ideas instead of historical truths. The broad idea is that God created the universe in 7 periods.
Also, how do you know what the word "day" meant in that culture? If I said, "The White House started a war," you would never think that a house literally acted. You would understand that "the White House" represents the executive branch, including those outside of the actual house.
The point is, we don't know. Maybe it's metaphorical. Maybe it was figurative. Maybe it was literal. We can't ascertain any one conclusion.
If your going to take genesis literally how can you not take the days of creation as literal 24 hour days? Good job dodging that question though.

@Paul Morgan ok. Thanks for writing a sentence in incomprehensible English but thanks for the thought anyway I suppose. Lol

4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’[a] 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’[b]? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Jesus said "at the beginning".

I think we can at least agree that miracles cannot be explained by science. Creation was miraculous. Even if you read Genesis in literal terms, being that creation spanned 6 days, one cannot simply explain that away with science, due to the miraculous nature of creation. Peace be to you.
Thank you for your response.
My advice to you as of today, it's best to stay away from any and all religion.
It is the cancer of this world.
It's in all of our best interest to follow God instead of manmade philosophy (opinions).
To understand that we follow God through His commandments alone.
Treat another as you would like to be treated and to love the Lord your God.
All else is vanity.
e.g., Any that bring a message of fear are not from God.
They come in their own name and do not know Him.
God is love, perfect love and perfect love casts out fear.... the fear of punishment.
And His love has already prevailed on the cross, saving all of creation. No exceptions.
All will be transformed into second Adam.
By way of justification in the spirit, sanctification of the soul and glorification of the body.
Whether it be by the first resurrection or the second one.
None will be lost; all will be overcomers of a corrupted mind (soul).
God bless. Amen.
More proof for a young earth than an old earth. Lol
@subtracted you are mentally challanged too. Lightyears is in meters per second. Science major. In chemistry.
@subtracted It's just based on an assumption that the speed of light haven't change.
@subtracted there are plenty of possibilities that the light being measured is not being measured accurately. Not the least of which is the shape of the universe itself. Creationism has given several feasible possibilities that are good enough to question the results.

Could you please do at least a short review of the book? It will help a lot of believers, me included, who may come across this book. Thanks a lot. May God's Blessings be upon you.
Contradiction and hypocrisy prove people made up the Bible:
*Bible Contradictions*
Genesis 1:1 Adam was created on the 6th day after all plants were created.
Genesis 1: 2 Adam was created before any plants were created.
Genesis 1: 3 God made light on the first day.
Genesis 1:16 God made the sun & stars on the 4th day.
*Bible Hypocrisy*
The same Bible that teaches "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", also teaches how to buy slaves, how to enslave children, how to beat the slaves, how to pass slaves on to next generation as permanent inheritance, and how to not treat relatives they way slaves are treated.

Well done, you have found a way out of this nonsense. Now keep looking and don’t rely on apologists to give you excuses.
Where does it say that?
@@Strange9952 2 Peter 3:8
Furthermore, the Bible tells us that the sun and moon were created (by God) on the fourth day. It also tells us what the sun and moon were created for: which is ...
“Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years,"
In other words, the sun and moon were created on the 4th day to help mark days and years.
We came to physically record time using these markers based on the earth's rotation...but as we know night and day are far longer/shorter on different planets.
Time is unknown when you are dealing with the supernatural.
The 4th commandment states He did it in six days
Science will never prove the age of the earth and universe.
Scientists will speculate.

I love your answer.
It's strange to me how some want us to think that the entire Bible's primary purpose is theological in nature except for the very beginning which is meant to be a 100% literal scientific treatise
I'm not sure but it seems Frank has reframed his answer on this. I seem to recall he used to be old age. Maybe I'm wrong. I just believe God is way more powerful than given credit. He's unfathomable, so I believe He did it as He said He did.
He is way more powerful words can't describe it he created the universe and everything in just by speaking so you know he's powerful
I have no problem with a 6 day creation. God could've done it in 6 seconds! If we believe in God then every miracle is easy to believe. He's God after all.
He doesnt want to lose donations...so he doesnt take an honest position.

@@theespionageact5249 Bring it on. I'll be interested to see the source. Just because it's on Wikipedia or some website doesn't mean it's absolute truth to me so don't be too disappointed if I don't give automatic credibility.
@@festushaggen2563 who is claiming life came from "nothing"? Don't mix the origin of the universe and the origin of life issues. And btw atheists don't believe the universe came from nothing. The most common answer you'll find is "i don't know where it came from".
Thanks for reading if you did :)
praise the Lord and God bless you
im almost 100% certain that ive heared a swiss theologian (roger liebi) say that the old hebrew word they used in genesis indicates literal days nothing else
this stuff is so confusing i should study theology myself
its how they justify sabbath
How about Adam as a first human, made by the hand of God? The human species evolved. Let's start there.
He basically didnt answer the question just waffle lmao
He answered the question the only rational way anyone can. Scientific theories are constantly evolving as new knowledge is acquired, as better models are made. No one alive was there to see the beginning of it all, so it's all a series of mathematics, limited observations, interpretations of evidence, and so on.
@Cross Examined
Plants can survive 24 hours without sunlight, but not much more. Therefore the beginning of Day 4 *HAD TO* come within 24 hours of the beginning of Day 3. There are no assumptions to this if you take God's Word at face value where it is intended to be so.
@Mr Wash but plants have no sin, to thia day. Neither do animals.

@@chrisgagnon5768
Actually, no it doesn't because I just showed the separation between plants and mankind in regards to sin. You can think that all you like but you'll be wrong the whole time you're doing so.
I would simply ask this question in return:
If the sun, stars, and moon were created on day 4... how long did a day last before then?
The whole point is that a day is just a period of time. God of the universe doesn't work on a 24 hour schedule like we do. The Universe is not 6000 years old l.
@@euanseaman1774 I think ma Jews would be keeping millions of years as a sabbath then lol
Whoever said they did contradict? And if so why would they ever say that
Because if Genesis is taken literally it massively contradicts with science understanding of human evolution and how/when the earth was formed
Understanding is not a prerequisite for salvation, it is a barrier to salvation. Change my mind.
I don't need to know the age of the earth to be saved
I don't hear people saying much about ZPE or zero point energy which has proved that the speed of light has slowed down at least fifty million times its rate in the last six thousand years. I wish you would update your information on this, or talk with or get Barry Setterfield's paper on it, thanks Frank, you're doing a great job outside of that though.
Maranatha, I'm sure we'll find out everything one day and it won't matter a bit. We'll just say WOW!!!
The days don't begin in verse 3, right?
Genesis 1:5
"God called the light “day”, and the darkness he called “night”. There was evening and there was morning, the first day."
But literally, a day is a 24 hour period which is established based on the rotation of the planet.
Thank you
Excellent video.
Thankyou.
Bible also says in 2peter 3:8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.... could this possibly mean something? 🤷♂️ i believe somewhere is Psalms it also states a 1000 years is like a day to God.
