I just got a '77 from a cousin of mine that looks just the same. I'm keeping mine stock so I replaced the air filter and keeping the air box. It's cool your girl is right in there pulling the carbs. Pretty big bike for a lady. Best of luck with it.
Shorter rear shocks and a thinner seat would be my first mod, ( I have the same bike, and I need my feet to touch the ground at a stop, backing up, ect)

What size shock did you end up going with?
