Honestly mate, I've had my 750 for 18 months and I have watched more of your videos than I can count. I'm so grateful for the effort that you put into them. Keep that content coming 👍
I bought an extra set of CB750 carbs on Facebook Marketplace for 100 bucks. I got them just so I could take them completely apart, clean everything and reassemble them for educational purposes. If I screw up, they're an extra set so it's not the end of the world. I'm in the process of ultrasonic cleaning everything at the moment. So far so good. When I'm done I should have a nice clean extra set of carbs I can use on my bike or resell to someone.
The full paid-for course is well worth the money. I watched a dozen videos, have 3 manuals - but it was your $40 video series I kept going back to this weekend as I rebuilt my 1993 Nighthawk carbs. Honestly I don't know if I would have discovered my damaged vacuum diaphragms without your full video. The Factory manual confirms they need to be replaced even if only a pinhole, as the slide won't stay in correct position. I didn't even notice the small splits and holes in the rubber until I stretched them like you show on the course. These same carbs were used in the 84-85 Nighthawk 700 with shaft drive.
The moral of the story is that1: we should re name “carb cleaning” to “fuel delivery system cleaning” And 2: dont be lazy. Cody, man you got some top shelf info in all your vids. Thanks alot, and keep up the good work!
I always add Sta bil to the last couple of tanks of the season to run it though, shut the fuel valve off and run them dry before winter storage. Also make sure the tank is clear full with the treated fuel. Never had a problem with carbs on my old bikes. Also always add Sta bil to my lawn equipment gas cans all the time.
ty , just bought a 91 honda nighthawk 750 usa model in europe , that was running badly ,thanks to your previous video i was able to remove them , and now the cleaning begins , keep up the amazing work and how to's for this amazing bike
Great info Cody, I just reassembled my 1980 CB750 carbs after a thorough and proper cleaning, yes, O-rings were replaced, why go to all the trouble of cleaning only to have the bike "pisssin gas" as you say. Thanks for the info.
I had mine cleaned a while back but still had to run a while with the choke was on a bit so thinking I may need to have them cleaned again. May do it myself this time but looks like a pain. My o-rings were changed so don't think I need to worry about that.
OUTSTANDING job there. Got a 2002zrx1200 that was rejetted and pods added 15 years ago at 2 stealerships. It fouled plugs DEAD at 500 miles. The first shop told me I wasn't riding it hard enough. Young punk ass mechanics. Took it eventually to another stealership. Neither one could get it right. It has never ran right. On my back porch now and still looking new. Aint rode it in 8 years. Gave up and got a fi xtz1200
Thanks Cody! I think I did everything as you recommended. The only difference was I used a new K&L carb kit and replaced the idle and main jets, the needle and seat, and air mix screw and spring. Put it back on my ‘72 CB750K. Started rightaway on test tank. But it revved to the moon when started in full choke.
I had completely forgotten about this issue. But if my memory serves me right, I figured it out within a few minutes. I’m embarrassed to admit, it was a non-issue… turns out there was no gas in the tank… I just never looked at the gas level in the tank after I took the test tank off and hooked up the gas tank. 😅
Hi Cody, I just finished the rebuild of the carbs. All nice and clean. Already in place and synced. Now the difficult will be the pilot screw adjustment as I installed new ones (Keyster rebuild kit). So the question is: besides using the supet expensive honda tool or the super fancy motion pro 90⁰ tool, none of my tools reach the 2 and 3. What is you recommendation? Can you share your wisdom? Keep up the good work 💪
I am so glad I took the time to watch your video. I have been pondering buying a 1992 750 CB I love the style and riding position but I’m getting to the point in my life where wrenching on old bikes has become tedious. I don’t think there is any techs in my area I can trust to do it correctly so I’ll stay bike-less for now. I got spoiled, the last two bikes I had were FI and shaft drive. I’ll never go back. I just have to find a bike with hydraulic lifters? Thanks for getting me back from the precipice lol
Question, what brand rebuild kits do you use or recommend for this model carburetor? How about floats? Thanks. I like how you go over everything in detail. Great to follow.
Cody, I always love to watch your video's even when I have Kawasaki concourse 1000cc, a Versys 650 (also Kawasaki) and a Hayabusa 1300 Suzuki. I learned all this the hard way.. and by hard way I mean taking the carbs off and breaking them down about 14 times..! Damn those orings!.. dont skimp on them they make all the difference between wasting time and utilizing time!
Nice video, I had to encourage people to replies fuel rings. I used a $8 carb brush set from Amazon. The OEM kit replaces all the brass (except choke). The All Balls Racing was disappointing. I wish you put the pilot screws in there. People miss the little and double stack them. But you’ll have that in the full build! People are taking interest in the ‘90s NH. Great time for this video!
One thing I do in addition is hit the exterior parts of the carbs with a brass wire brush on a drill. Also I get the brass interior parts separately with it as well (while removed of course). It also makes the tops shine like new and surprisingly without bad scratch marks. All screws, springs and choke parts get the same treatment. Just don't use it on interior or fragile bits.

Hi, nice video, I have a '94 CB 750 (Seven fifty) european model, wich has the same engine & carbs, it has been sitting for about 6 years, my question is, what can I use to clean the bottom buckets that are full of rotten and dry gasoline residue, the carburetor cleaner can't take out the spots, I wish I could send you a pic to show you how bad they looks.
Cody, I have a 1978 CB750F. The carbs were running fine, but after 2020, they got dirty once again... Q: can I send you my carbs for you to clean them? If so, please confirm... Thank you
Is contact break cleaner better to spray into those passageways than carb cleaner? I've cleaned my 1975 CB750 carbs a couple times and I only just recently figured out that the air screw seat has a hole at the bottom that leads down into the tunnel the pilot jet uses. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how that screw was effecting the idle (among other things.). You can't really see the hole when you look into where the screw sits (even using a flashlight and a magnifying glass) but I stuck a thin guitar string into that hole and realized it didn't stop where I thought it should, it continued down into the pilot jet passageway. Kind of embarrassed I didn't realize that sooner. The rest of the carb is pretty obvious (vents, main jet and needle valve seat).
Love it man thanks! Just starting disassembly on the carbs on my '85 Nighthawk last night. Any recommendations on which replacement gaskets/o-rings to buy and from where?
Hi just found your vid iv got cb750fn2 and it's been parked up for close to 3 years . Hey. Just wondering if you could make a video explaining how to change spark plugs on a CB500 series (Particularly the CB500F 2013 model) 2013 to present. I can't seem to find a decent video explaining how to do it. I currently have nearly 40,000 km and figure it's about time to do them.

When i take the the bike off the lift and road test it the bike has no power sluggish. dont understand why when the bike is on the lift with rear tire raised it has power but not when i road test it . First time trying to use this hope i have given enough information
Any clue what size the O-Rings are on the fuel transfer tubes between the carbs? I'm finding they're only in the full rebuild kit for each carb, but no sizes and part numbers.
l have a 81 CB 650 and its starts on 3 cyls. soon as l apply throttle,it stalls.Had a ton of dirt in tank, flushed out and removed carbs, kept them together but cleaned bowl, jets and passages.NO2 cylinder has spark, but no fuel.Any ideas? thanks
Rewatch the video. This is an overview and he clearly explains there is a full length complete rebuild video, which he charges about $40 for and that would be a bargain per all the time he took to explain things like your accelerator pump question
If that same “drain” has a brass tube connected straight into it inside the bowl then yes. That allows overflow is the flow stuck or adjustment is to high
I just got a 84 honda magna vf1100 and getting it road legal tomorrow, but trying to solve a issue it is having, when i shift from neutral to first gear it lurches a bit forward, I have cleaned the slave cylinder didnt really need it but was replacing the bleed screw that someone stripped, re bled the system, and still having same problem, the previous owner said it died unless you gave it a little gas going into first, someone mentioned that the brass bushing and the aluminum rod going into master cylinder might need changed, and was reading online and it said could be friction from the oil if it is thick, with the bike turned off and in first gear and squeezing clutch i can push it a little just very hard, if you have any ideas i would greatly appreciate it, also just watched your video about rear brake light adjustment, i think that will solve the other issue i am having will find out in the morning. thanks
Hello Cody, I have a friend with a 250cc carb issue, between 4k and 6k rpm strugle and hesitate, above that back to normal, what you think I coud check?
And just buy a complete kit, bowl gasket, orings, new float jets and seats. No matter how good they look just do it, specially these older bikes. Be careful with the steel wool. I just did my 1991 CBR1000F last month and the number 1 carb leaked. Steel wool in the float seat and somehow the floats where not adjusted to spec anymore.

Hey! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I feel like this might be a carbs case with my bike. I just have a problem with my honda cb400 1996. After riding for some time the throttle just stops responding and engine slowly stops.. And it doesn't start. After 10-15minutes it starts again and then after few kilometers the same thing happens. If i let it stay over night, it runs again like nothing happens. I could ride for an hour or so and suddenly it all happens again. Can the dirty carbs be a problem? Or should i look somewhere else?
I believe it's a slow idle plug, not sure about its importance but each carb has one, bring one to the hardware store and get a similar size rubber stopper
If you don’t need new accelerator pump and air cuts we could be a round $500 +shipping. If you do need those parts and more we could be around $700-750 because of the cost of parts.
Pro tip: Guys...if you never done this before trust me. DO NOT do it yourself. Take it to a reputable shop and have them done. If you decide to do them you will be sorry lol.
That is NOT a "Pro tip". If I had not started my first carb rebuild 40 years ago I would still be trusting some new hired kid at an overpriced shop to screw my stuff up. We learn from mistakes in life. If you are not willing to make a mistake and MASTER a subject, you will just noodle through life watching videos for something you will never do.
@@adjbob56 noticed one very important detail:reputable shop. You'll pay a little more but it will be done right and on time. I want to ride it not play with the carbs for a year....
Hello all. I'm wondering if anyone knows this : Does the 4-1 exhaust system off a CB400 Super Four fit on a 4-2 CB750 Nighthawk/F2? I'm trying to swap the system on my 750 for a 4-1 to reduce weight and noise. Would it work? Or are there better options for this? Thank you.
TheMotorcycleMD The kit came with the bike when I bought it and some of the pieces didn’t fit like the emulsifier tubes are way too big but I replaced a lot of the parts I got the bike for 300 bucks anyway so I’m doing OK
I don't have a 750 . I do have an 86 gold wing . A true barn find . 14,000 miles on her . Like brand new to look at !!! Down side …. No matter what I do she GAG'S …. Been through the carb's ( all 4 of them countless time's . Could this be a timing thing ??? or maybe the brain ???? I know the timing is belt drive . I'm not sure how to check the brain ???? Step up !!! help where you can . THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME !!!
Honestly bruh, there is enough free information out there as well as vid's on this process and just to rebuild a set of carb's you want 40 bucks ?? While IF I was doing anything else to the bike I MIGHT buy in, I understand you would like to be paid for your efforts, BUT, the ads get you paid enough to be able to GIVE AWAY a tutorial on this process. I respect your abilities personally and IF you give away something for free, you might actually gain a better support base for your other stuff. Just my $0.02 worth. Some things are not about the bucks, its about the experience. Money grubbin turns people off.
What I suggest is remove the entire Honda and replace it with a Harley Davidson. Like the story about this biker type riding in town spots a lil girl walking down the side walk he pulls up to her and says"Hey lil girl wanna go for a ride?" The lil girl just keeps walking not even looking at him. So the biker pulls up and says " Hey lil girl here is $10 come on let's go for a ride!" The lil girl head down keeps on walking. The biker type takes off going down past the lil girl to a candy store grabs a bag of candy and pulls up right in front of the lil girl blocking her way and says" Ok ok lil girl here I have a bag of candy & $10 what you say let's go for a ride on my bike!!! " The lil girl finally has had it and says " Dad you bought that fucking Honda you ride it!!!"
Hahahaha. Somebody needs to look into that Dad’s history. His tactics for picking up little girls on the side of the road are strikingly similar to that of a pedophile 😆 STRANGER DANGER!🤣

LOL thanks for responding I actually found the one that had bounced away got the carb back together and I sold that bike
How much would you charge to rebuild carbs for a1980 cb750f super sport?
If you don’t need new accelerator pump and air cuts we could be a round $500 +shipping. If you do need those parts and more we could be around $700-750 because of the cost of parts.
Pro tip:
Guys...if you never done this before trust me.
I want to ride it not play with the carbs for a year....
this is great, thank you!
Hello all. I'm wondering if anyone knows this :
Does the 4-1 exhaust system off a CB400 Super Four fit on a 4-2 CB750 Nighthawk/F2? I'm trying to swap the system on my 750 for a 4-1 to reduce weight and noise. Would it work? Or are there better options for this? Thank you.
Awesome video
just rebuild the carbs on my 81 cb 750 today
Success!!!!
TheMotorcycleMD The kit came with the bike when I bought it and some of the pieces didn’t fit like the emulsifier tubes are way too big but I replaced a lot of the parts I got the bike for 300 bucks anyway so I’m doing OK
Absolutely great advice thanks
I don't have a 750 . I do have an 86 gold wing . A true barn find . 14,000 miles on her . Like brand new to look at !!! Down side …. No matter what I do she GAG'S …. Been through the carb's ( all 4 of them countless time's . Could this be a timing thing ??? or maybe the brain ???? I know the timing is belt drive . I'm not sure how to check the brain ???? Step up !!! help where you can . THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME !!!
Sounds to me like you need to replace the accelerator pump!!
Thank you for your time . I'll replace them .
Can you not just get rid of the vacuum operated fuel shutoff valve and just put a regular valve. I assume this will throw off fuel delivery...
Awesome vid... thanks bud.
Cool man
You’re cool Joe!
Awsone video sir! Thank you!!
This pleases me.
Exactly what I was aiming for!!
Great video. Who is the man with axe? :-P
Can you clean my carbs !!!
@@TheMotorcycleMD did you read the story? She was his daughter. She just wouldn't ride with her dad for anything he offered because it was a Honda.
Harold Gino Helgeson I did read it, that’s why I said “somebody needs to check into that Dad’s History”. He was probably riding a metro scooter 😆
