Loved how much you loved this song. This is how I felt when I heard this song when it came out. Jerry Doucette just died in April (70) and he did this song out of Vancouver, BC with Mushroom Records (the same label that Heart started out with). There are some other great Vancouver artists from this time you'll need to check out with big catalogs of music, including Trooper, Prism, and Chilliwack. These are bands that have not been covered by any of the main Reaction channels yet, and you guys will love their music.

It was just so sad, that it took him so long to get the monkey off his back. He was the best (sorry Rik Emmitt/Alex Lifeson) lead guitarist in Ontario in the 70's on, and so few knew about him. Hindsight sadly it might of been better for him to have never gone to LA, and get into that scene, although it did enable him to make more albums. I had the honour of watching "The Deuce" rip it up countless times, and his talent was off the charts. RIP, my man. You are sorely missed.

Back in the day before Spotify, TH-cam or cell phones, you usually had to buy the album to get the song you wanted. I was in college (not much money) and my band wanted to do this song. Our dorm had one pay phone per floor and it was long distance to call to the twin cities. I had to get a bunch of change to call one of the major radio stations in the Minneapolis area (70 miles away) to request this song so I could record it on my tape deck so I wouldn't have to buy the album. I asked the DJ to announce the song before he played it so I wouldn't miss the beginning. He said, "this is Doucette on K _ _ _" and I hit record.

There are so many Canadian bands that deserve(d) more international acclaim. I think there was a lot more freedom to be themselves in Canada, because we had Canadian content rules for airplay. They had to play at least one Canadian band for every three non Canadian bands, so they got exposure here in Canada. Unfortunately the same rule worked against them in international markets. I would recommend some Canadian artists that will give you a good cross section of just how much talent there was up here: Streetheart ( Action or Hollywood - RIP Kenny Shields) Bachman Turner Overdrive (Not Fragile), Big Sugar (Diggin a Hole, Turn the Lights On RIP Garry Lowe) Tragically Hip ( New Orleans is Sinking, Fiddlers Green RIP Gord Downie), April Wine (Roller, Could have been a Lady), Headpins (Breakin Down RIP Too Loud Macleod super nice guy, gone too soon), Prism (Armageddon), Harlequin (Innocence), Chilliwack (Crazy Talk, Fly at Night), Rough Trade (High School Confidential). I could go on and on!!!

Loved your reaction. Amber, it looked like you were just about to jump out of your chair and dance. 🙂 The Mushroom you saw on the image was for Mushroom Records, a recording studio in Vancouver, BC. It was the same studio that Heart recorded their early albums. I can also relate to this song. When I was in High School, I had a guitar teacher that started to get to learn some Jazz. It was just to crazy. I just wanted to Rock-n-Roll. In my mid 20's, I learned Jazz and loved it. I really enjoy you two and you are part of my day,

Thank you for reacting to this one, it was one of my favorites when I was a junior in high school. The album that I had with this song, had a picture of him playing a dual guitar. It had one large body, but two necks and two sets of strings. A very cool instrument to hear when played.

Killer tune. The arrangement choice to go with the vocal refrain on top of that bubbly outro guitar solo was a win and is really the finishing touch on an already great song.

My younger brother brought me 2 albums to make copies of from. I had just purchased a counsel stereo that had a turntable and a cassette player... nothing overly expensive but functional. The 1st was Jerry Doucette and the other was Tommy Bolin's Private Eyes... this song was huge on the radio at the time, but if you want a great rock song that will knock you off your feet... put on Post Toastee from Private Eyes.

Kim Mitchell also has songs of this time period, patio lanterns, go for soda, etc.
The mushroom logo is for the famous Mushroom Records recording studio in Vancouver. I’ve been in there, the sound is amazing in there. The building looks solid and could survive an earthquake, with solid wood walls/ floors/ ceilings. Heart recorded there, as well as Led Zeppelin doing add-ons I think on their 2nd album. Many bands went through Mushroom Records. Another quirky Canadian band is Doug and the Slugs; Making It Work.

I absolutely love the vibe you two give off. Your message of love is awesome. In my opinion we need more people like you. I would highly recommend a song by a man called Sammy Johns. The song is called Chevy Van. It's definitely a 70's song through and through. It gives off a hippy vibe. I know I have heard you talk about how you like that vibe. The 70's had some of the very best music ever!! Keep on going you two!!!!
