    This is amazing! how is the alpha 1 drive holding up with the power? also, how did you do the cut out for the gear selectors?

    lækkert projekt. kan man få en undvisning af motoropsætningen (vid) jeg har nemlig selv gang i selv samme motor til at rykke en båd. det kunne være sjovt og se hvordan i har gjort det. :)

    Sounds awesome and moves along quite fast.. great job.I have been wanting to do a similar set up myself, where I live alpha1 drives are common and are easily obtainable with worn out gas engines. I was wondering what info you had on the Alpha1. what gear ratio is it and what prop or props are you running? any info you can tell me really. Thank you.

      I think its one of the middle geared, the engine struggles to rev higher than 5000 Rpm. We suspected the gearing on the Alpha Drive is the culprit.

    Commented on another video of yours.. i want to repower a 35-37 foot boat with two bi-turbo Audi V8's or a 27-30 foot boat with two bi-turbo audi 2.7 V6's ... as much power as the huge big blocks but way smaller, lighter and better on fuel.. would be a great experiment and awesome if it all worked

    Very nice conversion :) Could you please say, how do you control VTG of garrett 2260 over the rev speed? What is the boost pressure over the engine speed with your powertrain/propeller?

      Are you running stock limit od revs, or did you move the limiter higher? Thank you for the answers in advance and Kindle regards from Poland :)

      We are running a manual vaccuum/pressure pump to adjuste the angle of the turbo blades.

      Det er mekanisk pumpe, så der er ingen styrring overhovedet.

    Very nice... i have m57 engine, would like to fit it on my boat also. Drive is mercruiser bravo 1. Question is, how you conected engine to mercruiser drive? :) thank you :)

    • @josepeixoto3384
      @josepeixoto3384 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, i do that semi-professionally here in Porto,Portugal; (doing one now with a Iveco 2.5 TD ,mechanical pump, antifreeze,turbo and intercooled,in a Mercruiser Alpha one 1988 SEA RAY Seville 19 ft CC, to be registered in Poland);
      It´s simple, you need an adapter plate,around 20 or 25 mm thick; this plate bolts to the BMW engine,then the bellhousing , be it Mercruiser or Volvo Penta,bolts to the adapter plate; *CENTERING* must be perfect,use dial indicators; the fore and aft distance/relation of the output splines to the splined disc must be very close to the original ,does not need to be exact; if Mercruiser,the fore and aft , AND the up and down location of the 2 rear motor mounts be carefully observed, the engine *alignement* of mercruiser setups is *CRUCIAL* ,you´ll need a special alignement tool.

      Do you have any education in polution and engines? Because part of our education as marine engineers we do.
      By aplying salt-water to the exhaust gas, we are eliminating all the SOx. This is done by the salt-water is a little basic, and the SOx is acid.
      We are also reducing the NOx emission by running the engine at higher RPM, therefore reducing the time NOx have to form, and by have a small length from the headers to where we are cooling the exhaust gas also reducing the NOx emission. NOx is generated by heat, time, pressure and Nitrogen. The Nitrogen we cannot do anything about, because it's part of the air. But everything else we have tried to minimize the green impact.

      Plain and simple, you are introducing much more noxious foreign material into the water than a typical gas engine, that is obvious. Yes PHD Aero Engineering thank you.

      So you take to TH-cam, to be internet warrior, to kill others fun? So what does that make you? A bitter old man?

    • @AKAtheA
      @AKAtheA 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do realize that for SOx emissions, sulfur would have to be present in the fuel, right? The fuel refinery should be taking care of that for you...
      And as for the rest of the emissions - there's the nice soot clouds we can see, so probably a good guess that you are not running a DPF or SCR system...the NOx should be the least of your worries :D
