Thanks for the nice little overview of the RS3. I happen to own a 2018 RS3 sedan and it is somewhat confusing when I first started driving the iRacing model. But it is fun!! We certainly need more touring cars as you mention. Also like to state you have one of the nicest speaking voices of all the reviewers I catch on TH-cam. Thanks for sharing your insights!
Thanks Steven. iRacing is the perfect platform for touring cars. As long as they tweak the collision penalty threshold to avoid big punts, but still alow a bit of door banging, then they've got a winner as far as I'm concerned!
Key points (as you are no-doubt aware) are that the race car has one less cylinder, 50 less horses, two fewer driven wheels and is slower to 100km/h than your road car! I realise it's a marketing thing, but I think the TCR car should actually be called the S3 LMS, since it's got the four-cylinder engine.
Hey Chris, just wanted to say thanks for another great video. I haven't found another channel in this genre that has comparable production and "feel". Your videos always remind me of Chris Harris on cars, just with more information and less drifting.
I haven't driven iRacing in years, however I took your advice on this and bought it. Great car, and also your videos are top shelf sir. I almost feel like I was hypnotized into buying it. Thanks!
Totally agree. iRacing really needs to restructure their series vs. the license required. I think it would really help the quality of racing, as it would force newer subscribers (and those that just don't seem to get how to race safely) to be patient and learn the ropes before jumping into a faster, more demanding car with people who are expecting clean races. Also, bravo for calling out those that assume a car is "wrong" because it doesn't handle how they expect it to. That's part of the fun of racing, learning the quirks of each car and figuring out how to get the most out of them. Great video. Cheers!
Thanks dude. I guess part of the series setup is to do with the commercial side of things. Having a nice fast Ferrari in D class gives people something to work for on the road side of things. Whereas, I guess maybe the Audi doesn't quite have the same appeal. Who knows! :)
The new tyre model is awesome !! Loving iracing Now !! Just got my dd2 and feels brilliant, just waiting for my simucube 2 Pro come through the post !!
I've not driven the new tyre model outside of the Skippy and the RS3, but it's definitely a big step forward on those two cars. I'm glad the community is being largely positive about the changes too!
Hey Chris, I’m using a CSL Elite PS4 with the M3 GT2 wheel and so far the Audi feels pretty solid and great fun to drive! No match for the DD bases of course, but still fun 😃
Something about this video impressed me so much I never played this game, but I love something difficult to explain. It's about the camera, the way the game delivers fantastic proportions about everything on the screen... Oh yes maybe I can say it's about the perspectives. The way the game manages so well the perspectives. I don't know how to explain correctly what I feel, but it looks SO REAL to my eyes... I don't think it's a question of FOV, I don't feel it like this, and I can appreciate this real sensation on all different views, on board, replay, around the car... If someone understand me and can explain me what is this so good feeling, please let me know I'm very curious about that! 😊 Only this good video feeling makes me want to play this game
In my limited experience so far I found using 2nd gear at the start omitts pretty much all wheel spin and launches past other drivers. Also that during a race I never went lower than 3rd Gear. Its a strange concept but I look forward to racing it officially this season!
That's a good shout. 1st gear is so short as it is anyway - especially if you're short-shifting. I'll give it a try. I think the series is going to be rolling starts, so it's probably a moot point!
I've really been enjoying the car. Looking forward to racing it this season and particularly next year in VLN. No complaints from me about the FFB on my G27. See you on the track!
I like the new tire and damage, I don't like the RS3. Not because it's simulated badly, more because I hate FWD. There are just too many great RWD cars that I like to enjoy more.
The owner for the exact car that this was based on (scan, audio, development, etc...) lives in my city! Have yet to drive it but I've heard great things!
Sampling both the RS3 and the M4 GT4 in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, the RS3 has less grunt, but honestly feels more like a proper race car. The GT4 doesn't have a lot of aero or mechanical grip; my personal impression is it feels like something built for an improved production car category, rather than a junior GT car. The RS3 by comparison is much more responsive and feels like it has more grip. I do wish the rev limit was higher - it feels like I'm constantly a gear higher than I ought to be.
On my TSPC, the FFB feels fine until you are understeering under power. I dont know how these cars would feel in real life, but doing this in sim makes the the front end loose almost all feel. In a sense, this is feel in its own way and informs me that I am power understeering, but when i first started driving the car it felt perplexing.
How does it compare with the TCRs in RaceRoom? I’ve done plenty of track days in an H22-powered EG with a Quaife LSD (similar setup as a TCR, just far less sophisticated) and I really enjoy the TCRs in RaceRoom.
I've been playing about with 21:9 a bit for a while - As well as a stylistic choice, it's a helpful workaround for sims where you can't get rid of all the on-screen clutter, so I can just crop it out ;)
Thanks for another beautiful vid. There's a track in your gorgeous closing credits that has cars driving over a bridge. Can you share the download location for that track?
If I'm not mistaken, that's Sveg Raceway, a fictional track that is gaining a lot of fans lately, for the quality of the build and the interesting layout based on real-world locations. www.racedepartment.com/downloads/sveg-raceway.18818/ And of course there's a CHSR video for that as well: th-cam.com/video/mwH9skokRJ8/w-d-xo.html ...and the interview with its creator: th-cam.com/video/2Y66MrvN680/w-d-xo.html
@@D_Sharpie I agree, but When I watch it in full screen on my ultrawide, the video only takes up like 60% of the screen. If uploaded in 21:9 the video would have the same effect of black bars on a normal aspect ratio monitor in full screen and obviously maximized on ultrawides.
It's a bit of a workaround due to the limitations of cameras in racing sims, and matching footage when I'm using my real cameras. It's not ideal for ultrawide users, as you suggest.
Yeah, it was a surprise to me for sure. I'm still D Class, because I only really dabble with iRacing, so I'm going to have to make an effort to progress as well :)

Interesting thought. I guess that could be problematic for series with really low participation. I can't imagine Kamel GT would be all that fun with 30% of the field taken up by rookies :P
@@ChrisHaye splits and series could just be decided via irating. The issue is that would stop people from being able to use the content they may buy. For example to drive ilms you would need 1500irating. Then splits would still be decided via irating. Very similar to how vln series works, where you only need a D licence but splits are quali time, the issue with using quali time for splits is sandbagging if it were irating there's a lot more incentive. I guess I'm really just trying to say licence systems doesn't describe a rookie vs veteran very well, where irating is a much better system to define skill.
