- if you have one of these hold on to them! Made in small numbers for 3 1/2 years they were not a big seller new. However they will be worth a lot of money in 20 years time so enjoy wearing one if you have one in the mean time!!

116600 SD4k really is a piece to keep a hold of! In years to come, this will be very expensive to obtain! Rare!

The 116600 is a reference that is getting slept on. I really have no idea why this is trading at or below a current production 126610. Rolex made a specific case and bezel just for this reference and it was only in production for 3 years. In the world of modern Rolex that is a ridiculously short production run.

It’s funny I bought a 116600 2015 full. Last month part ex my black gmt which the Seadweller I’ve always wanted just a perfect watch really

I love this watch, it has a ceramic bezel, a date without cyclops and it’s just the right size at 40mm. I think it’s the only time Rolex have done that combination.
As a proud owner of the SD4K I can never understand why it is so unloved. It’s the perfect watch.
I'm a fellow owner as well and it baffles me that a fullset SD4K is trading at or below the current Sub 126610 and I think this reference is seriously getting slept on. Rolex made the case and bezel especially just for this reference and it was only in production for a short 3 years. To put it into perspective, even the preceramic SD ref 16600 was in production for around 20 years and even the green Sub Hulk 116610LV was produced for around 10 years!
@@lettuce1305 Remember the Daytona was very much unloved, on its release, the reason was it didn't get to go to the moon, but it is a stunning watch and was overlooked. The sd4k is a stunning watch, it is a mix of old and new but still very much a tool watch, it has the matte black dial no cyclops and yet has the ceramic dial along with a fully graduated bezel.
The sd4k is the 40 mm sea dweller in its complete form as a dive watch - what came after was a change in direction, a sea dweller which is divergent from the old sea dweller, bigger case, cyclops and even come in gold
But again this watch like the Daytona is unnoticed by many, I think it goes unnoticed because before it's release the rolex community were expecting, wanting, the next sea dweller to be in a 43mm case. That is the trend in watches these days, bigger is some how better. But they got the sd4k in a 40 mm case and were not enthusiastic about it.
All good - while everyone chases after the latest trend, the sd4 sits there quietly, as a part of Rolex history, a rare piece with a story untold, going unnoticed among all the noise.
Being that this watch is no longer made and for those of you that are okay with homage watches, San Martin made a beautiful homage of this watch last year in grade 5 Titanium, SN0111T. My dream watch has always been the Rolex Submariner in Titanium so when I saw this watch I bought it immediately. For those that are interested in this watch but don't have or want to spend the money, this may be a great option.
