I like the Canadian accent "Oop lemme scoot right past ya there bud" Not too exaggerated, but stays true to accurate good ole Canadian slang like "bud". This bit is Canuck approved.
In german there is an idiom "Was man nicht im Kopf hat, muss man in den Beinen haben" which translates to "what you don't have in the head you have to make up with your legs". I guess the reverse is also true: If you have enough stuff in your head you can make up what you are lacking in your legs.
Freddie hits more doubles on ground balls to center field than any player I've ever seen. I'm not sure if there's any way to actually quantify them but it's really insane how often he does it.
Yeah now that I think about it its pretty weird, like I had always disconnected speed and defense, we know guys like Yelich, Rickey, could be both fast and not great defenders, and inversely Judge or JRam, be slow but good defenders, but wasn't really sure if "smart" baserunners were necessarily good defenders, you'd think it'd be similar skillsets of judging timing but also angle and velo of batted balls. And yeah I guess there is, given most of the guys on that list are plus defenders off the top of my head, with Yelich being at least one exception.
Absolutely fun video. Im a Braves fan and I still cheer for Freeman. I didnt ever think of Freeman like this. I didnt even see it when that viral vid went out. Thanks for your work.
It's gotta be nice being disregarded as a baserunner when you have the brains to do it well. I bet it feels like a big brain move every time Freddie steals second.
The Braves have 5 of the top 23 when it comes to extra base %. The team as a whole is great at getting jumps, going 1st to 3rd, etc. Gonna be a fun season.
Watching him run gives me two trains of thought. 1.) Nicolas Cage is fated to be cast in a straight to dvd/streaming Freddie Freeman biopic despite his age. 2.) You can actually feel the force of all his body weight he flat-footedly plants into the ground with each step through the screen of your phone
I’m glad Bailey’s research on Freddie for this video allowed him to make a baseball bits for his secondary channel, but I feel like his focus is really drifting away from the content we need: Bobby Abreu in the HOF.
I wish the data went back far enough to bear this out, but I have a memory of Don Mattingly being the same type of baserunner - quite adept at going first to third or second to home on a single given his lack of speed.
I wonder if Freddie Freeman's long legs help with the base tagging/perception of tagging? Like the short strides mean he can kick out the leading leg faster
foolish baseballcels will claim that foolish baseball is his main channel but us statmaxxed foolish baileychads know that foolish bailey is really the main channel
I feel like Bailey really wanted to do a Freddie video for awhile now and just didnt quite have the topic to make it sound especially interesting, given how much he just likes Freddie lol
The fact that Freddie Freeman was not allowed to spend his entire career with the Bravos is a travesty, a tragedy, and just a damn disappointment to Braves fans everywhere. Congrats to him and best of luck in his career, but also, we miss him.
Freddie Freeman is the best backside hitter in baseball absolutely perfect and if you look back over history most left-handed hitters who we know as grade hitters are exactly the same way
What’s his max foot speed and what’s his fastes home to second, 1st to 3rd. Does he turn it on when he knows he can because he’s smart? Average doesn’t tell the whole story.
I will give you your bit of extra bases taken. Freeman has always been an aggressive baserunner and, when given the chance, will always go for the extra base. That's how he's always been. However, I have to disagree with you on his basestealing. While it is normal to run on counts where it's expected that the pitcher is throwing a breaking ball low, the rate he was doing it at is unquestionably the byproduct of bigger bases, and _especially_ the brand new disengagement rules. A relatively slow runner like Freeman doesn't accidently steal 23 bases in a season otherwise, given this context. I'm surprised you didn't bring those changes up at all, but I guess it wouldn't have fit your narrative.
Bad example - Correa just played a season with a serious foot condition (plantar fasciitis, unrelated to the ankle) that seriously damaged his foot speed, ability to plant, and ability to accelerate quickly. Not a great example.
Freddie Freeman runs in a way that makes a viewer think "oh he's chugging along"
look at that big boy go!
OH LAWD HE COMIN’
Lol 😂
He runs like he's never ran before. Not in the free way, in the Steve Seagal way.
@@rvaneand326PAUSE 😂
THERE’S WIND BOYS! THERE’S WIIIND!!!
😂😂😂
One of the greatest baseball clips of all time
"Watch this! He's gonna score!" sounds like a fun guy
Oh boy was there wind
the booth staredown after crossing the plate really tops it off
The kind of base running you can bring home to Mom and Dad... That is an all timer of a line
freddie freeman waited 15 years to realize he can steal bases
it was a long con. made people think he was slow and not a threat on the bases. now he's striking.
Those 6" closer bases really filled him with confidence
you know he was having the strangest dream when he discovered that
I like the Canadian accent "Oop lemme scoot right past ya there bud"
Not too exaggerated, but stays true to accurate good ole Canadian slang like "bud". This bit is Canuck approved.
The average person in Timmons, Ontario says this exact phrase at least once a day.
Another banger of a main channel video, Bailey. Can't wait for your main channel video about this year's HoF inductions.
😂

Just a great all around player who takes advantage of the smallest opportunities to improve his game gotta appreciate dudes like this in the sport.
plays the game the right way baserunning
Real sneaky athlete when it comes to running those bases
First one in, last one out baserunning attitude
Salt of the earth baserunning
You'll get out of work on time if he's closing with you baserunning.
Yankees haven’t heard about this concept
another wonderful main channel video great job Bailey
Aka noted Braves fan Foolish Bailey talking about an ex of his
we still have the same last name
@@FoolishBaileyyou have to move on Bailey. be your own man again
Prime Pujols was similar too, no speed but great baserunning smarts
Another banger main channel video
Paul Goldschmidt carries this legacy forward as well
Freddie hits more doubles on ground balls to center field than any player I've ever seen. I'm not sure if there's any way to actually quantify them but it's really insane how often he does it.
Had been thinking this for a bit now, always surprised at how good he is at advancing bases.
Main channel upload, let's go!
I love when Bailey uploads on his main channel
Kyle Tucker gives these vibes too, only 32nd percentile sprint speed but can give you 20+ steals
Hey look, Tommy Edman is top 5 in base stealing efficiency. That’s my GOAT
he appears again just after freeman in the baserunning runs metric, bailey needs a third channel so he can talk about edman
just your average starting shortstop/center fielder
Always love when you post on your main channel! Keep it up foolish
A nice surprise. I wasn’t expecting a video on the main channel today
This is the best main channel on all of TH-cam
Immediately thought of the Spring Training clip when I saw the title - one of my favorite baseball moments ever
Another great video here on your main channel, Bailey!
banger main channel vid again loved it
Christian Yelich is 5th which is even more mind-boggling.
Always marveled at Freddie’s baserunning stats, as a Braves fan. Glad to see a video on them.
Absolutely fun video. Im a Braves fan and I still cheer for Freeman. I didnt ever think of Freeman like this. I didnt even see it when that viral vid went out. Thanks for your work.
Yelich is also up there on the list of sneaky great base runners which is pretty cool as well
Babe wake up new Foolish Bailey
The brain is important, pujols could barely walk at the end, but when he stole em he was never caught
i love you so much foolish bailey
Between this video and the other one, I didn’t realize Yelich was still such an elite base runner
Another main channel upload! I love these
Bailey, great content! Subscribed
He must be leading the league in helmet-falling-off too. Look at that bucket just tumble off every time.
It's gotta be nice being disregarded as a baserunner when you have the brains to do it well. I bet it feels like a big brain move every time Freddie steals second.

Bailey this video is nice and all but when are you going to upload again on your second channel
Didn't know, thanks!
Freddie and Goldy have some of the highest base running IQ in the league. Both super underrated in that way.
I’m glad Bailey’s research on Freddie for this video allowed him to make a baseball bits for his secondary channel, but I feel like his focus is really drifting away from the content we need: Bobby Abreu in the HOF.
1950’s middle America base-running. A real hard worker
It's great for Bailey to shoutout his second channel here on his main channel.
"There's wind boys! There's wind!" That is a special player who can pull that off. 🤣
I wish the data went back far enough to bear this out, but I have a memory of Don Mattingly being the same type of baserunner - quite adept at going first to third or second to home on a single given his lack of speed.
"Oop! Lemme just scootch right past ya there, bud!" In all fairness, Freeman is Canadian, and this is, in fact, how we talk. Points for accuracy.
the type of baserunning that makes granddad proud
as soon as I saw the title I knew "theres wind boys" was gonna be mentioned
This base running wears wife beaters and chills on the porch with sweet tea and the grandkids
I wonder if Freddie Freeman's long legs help with the base tagging/perception of tagging? Like the short strides mean he can kick out the leading leg faster
Mike Trout SB since 2020: 6
Freddie Freeman SB since the '23 All Star break: 11
Bailey, you said "Oop let me just schooch right past ya there bud" but the proper midwest way is "Ope," hope this helps.
My main takeaway from this video has nothing to do with Freddie Freeman's baserunning. It is that Whit Merrifield is older than Freddie Freeman.
So the big boy baseball awards are on your secondary channel? I dont think so Bailey.
Where is the chase utley is the goat video??
The phrase you’re looking for is *ope, gonna squeeze right past’cha.
Carlos Santana is another older, not fast, first baseman that is a great baserunner!
FREDDIE FREEMAN MENTIONED 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
foolish baseballcels will claim that foolish baseball is his main channel but us statmaxxed foolish baileychads know that foolish bailey is really the main channel
3 square meals a day base running.
I feel like Bailey really wanted to do a Freddie video for awhile now and just didnt quite have the topic to make it sound especially interesting, given how much he just likes Freddie lol
🔥🔥
Dude makes good decisions. That's what it comes down to.
Foolish confirmed baseballcirclejerk scroller
Paul Goldschmidt is also a fantastic base runner.
The fact that Freddie Freeman was not allowed to spend his entire career with the Bravos is a travesty, a tragedy, and just a damn disappointment to Braves fans everywhere. Congrats to him and best of luck in his career, but also, we miss him.
I like how it went from "white guy in sports tropes" to "Midwestisms"
Freddie Freeman is the best backside hitter in baseball absolutely perfect and if you look back over history most left-handed hitters who we know as grade hitters are exactly the same way
How does Goldschmidt compare?
Could pena's extra pickoffs be because pitchers know he is an easy target as well?
So this is your main channel?
I am downright shocked gitaffeneckmarc is not in the comments on this one. That man has a weird thing for Freeman.
as a braves fan we miss him
Jose Rameriz fits this profile as well
What’s his max foot speed and what’s his fastes home to second, 1st to 3rd. Does he turn it on when he knows he can because he’s smart? Average doesn’t tell the whole story.
We gonna talk about Corbin Carroll leading all of MLB in BsR over the last 2 seasons despite being an active player for just one season? 5:50
talked about it here: th-cam.com/video/ekU-vKjm6yE/w-d-xo.html
@@FoolishBailey you did do that yes I just wanted to marvel at that specific stat. I know you covered all the bases bailey you always do
HE. GETS. ON. BASE.
There’s wind boys
btw this guy happens to be the 3rd best hitter on his team. madness.

The term 'Clydesdale' comes to mind seeing him run, but that's mostly used in reference to big, slow catchers. But Freddie isn't NOT a Clydesdale!
Chicken soup for the soul baserunning
I love baseball
Daughter dating type Base running, first guy in last guy out kinda base running, hard working sneaky athletic style base running.
Brandon Lowe snubbed
I think there’s a hidden message here somewhere. Not qwhite sure what it is about Freeman. He just plays the game the right way.
Fredward Fancyson
will this turn into a new stat? GPBR, good piece of base running.
why do trea turner, corbin carroll and freddie freeman all have alliterative names
who's smarter, einstein or freeman's baserunning?
i love freddie freeman
Bad example - Correa just played a season with a serious foot condition (plantar fasciitis, unrelated to the ankle) that seriously damaged his foot speed, ability to plant, and ability to accelerate quickly. Not a great example.
I guess you can say he is not “foolish” on the base path
I've been saying this about Freddie since 2014
when freddie freeman gets caught stealing i react the same as i did after learning that the 2020 mets were 13th in runs scored
Freddie the kind of runner that other kids would call Wheels
Freddie Freeman is basically Chase Utley wuth better knees and playing in an era where people appreciate advanced stats
The difference is that Utley's best season by OPS+ would be Freeman's seventh best.
Real hash browns and eggs after Sunday church kind of baserunning
Drink everytime Bailey says Freddie Freeman.
