This takes me back to Christmas of 2002 and it was a time where I felt that things were falling apart around me. I would see this commercial and it would, strangely, put me in a better mood. It's hard to believe that a commercial from a store that I don't even shop at would make me feel better about things, but it's true.
I don't have many fond memories of the early 2000s, but this ad is one of them. I wonder why Gap stopped advertising like they used to. Also, thanks to other commenters for pointing out Rashida Jones!
I feel so nostalgic watching this It came out when I was like 11 or 12 and I still remember it, it makes me so happy and I'm glad I found it on youtube lol I would watch it everyday.
I worked at old navy and gap for a bit in the mid to late 2000s and as part of our orientation they showed us these old commercials and were basically like "remember when we were cool??"
This is a re-recording for the commercial--a group called "The O' Jays" originally sang it. It's a 70s disco/funk CLASSIC. iTunes would definitely have it. Oh yeah, the title of the song, though obvious, is called "Love Train". Two versions, the extended version ( 6 mins and change) is best.
I esp. remember the print ads for the "Crazy Stripe". I always wanted the scarf and asked my mom crochet me one with a matching messenger bag and beanie lol. She did one set in rainbow and one in pastel mohair ☺💕
man it sux that they dont play special xmas commercials like this and the coca cola bears like this anymore! but i love this vid. reminds me of when i was lil walkin around singin it. thanx! and happy holidays! :)
does anyone know what year this commercial came out? I LOVE this commercial. It makes me think of happier days. Christmas just isn't what it used to be.
i understand the point and you're right it does say people around the world, mentions egpyt and china in the song too, but i didn't see any chinese or egyptians in there. it was more of a funny observation, that out right haterd. this is my favorite gap commerical. just chill out. it's not that serious.
apparently they stopped adverstising on tv in like, 2007, and don't have any immediate plans to start again. it's a shame, they're not even gonna air those great holiday 2008 clips with all those celebrities. they're just for the website.
Yes i'm serious. This is a slight remake of the original version. Or if you do say that this is the original version then I wish they continued on with the current version they are singing and made a tune out of it.
that's you're opinion. and i don't see people from around the world. i see just black and white people. i didn't say that to be ignorant. this is by far my favorite gap commerical. and it is a black song because it was written and sung black artist. but i also see your point as well,in the song it mentions countries like england, china, and egypt. wasn't trying to ignorant. just a song just a commerical. chill out. that's it breathe, it's not that big of a deal. it was more a joke than anything.
Best Gap Christmas commercial ever. Brings up past memories and nostalgia. Love it!
LOVED THESE GAP COMMERCIALS.
Whatever ad agency dreamed the concept including Khaki Cool, Khaki Swing, etc was brilliant.
