Hey there brother. 3+ years ago this vid you made was the reason I bought my SV. It’s been one of my best decisions. Still got her but with some serious mods and love her as much now as the day I drove away from the dealership. So hope this finds you well and many, many thanks👍🙏
For those who paid attention to his comment about 250's not having resell, as a 25 year old who is part of a more cautious generation, I put my 250 on the market after the dealer told me how they sell like hotcakes because everyone wants them over 600's for starter bikes. Guy seemed to be spot on. Will be upgrading and someone else will be learning the smart way.
My first bike was an SV650. I loved that bike. Sold it to buy a ZX-6R thinking the grass was greener with all that power but now I wish I would have kept it. Also, these sound awesome with a better muffler.
I don't normally comment on videos. I've been researching this particular bike, have read and watched a lot. There are a shit ton of goobs doing videos. I've been riding street bikes since '84, and I can tell the difference between them and real motorcycle people.Mr.Glynn, you are certainly not one of those goobs. GREAT job brother! I'm probably going limit my viewing to you and TMF. Keep doing you. Rider hanging off a Bergman... HILARIOUS! Ride safe, ride often.
I have done 7000+ km on my 17 SV650 - your comments on the seat are correct - the standard seat is uncomfortable after about 40minutes. Replaced it with the thicker and softer "Roll top" aftermarket seat supplied by Suzuki, and it is much better.
Thanks. ...good to know. I like everything about this bike but after sitting on one, the hard seat was a big turn-off and with the optional one having only another 5mm thickness, .....
One of the best motorcycle reviews I have ever watched. Outstanding presentation. Speech is clear, vibrant and audible. Every logical consideration is touched upon. Literally, if there was an award for bike reviews this would top my nominations list. I only wish you'd have also reviewed the 2017 Ducati Monster as I would have loved a knowledgeable perspective from someone who isn't trying to take my money. Outstanding work sir.
I just brought one of these home - white & blue with ABS.... Your comment about confidence inspiring couldn't be more on its mark.... I put 190km on it for my first ride while continuing to follow the break in suggested by Suzuki. Amazing first bike - this thing beats driving the Yamaha 230!!!
Great review with detailed insight on the riding characteristics of the bike. Almost as if I test rode it myself! Still relevant in 2021 as I believe nothing has changed on the SV650 except the upgraded front brakes.
You basically said this is an entry level bike that doesn't have a lot of power right at the beginning. I drive an SV650S and it will hit 60 in well under 4 seconds. More like 3.4-3.5. Then, 70mph is the highest legal speed limit in my state. So, like having a bike that's meant to go 150 is pointless for me. It's nice having a bike where I can sort of rev out gears and not be in jail, you know? Hahaha. I have been actually wanting a slower bike because it is still stupid fast around town. I want a bike I can rev out and push and not have to be going 100 to do that!
great review and great bike.....but you should mention also that the bike has to assistance systems(at least over here in Germany). One is called easy start and one little push of the starter bottom will start the engine. Second is called low RPM assist....which is increasing the RPM by about 500 once you to try to go.....nice to prevent bike from stalling. Overall great bike for the money.....and yes we have one(my wife....and I love it too). In red....great colour!
I'm going to buy one in a few weeks as my first bike, I've seen just about every other review video and yours is probably the most informative. I'm a bloke about the same size so it was great to hear you were so comfortable on it. Great review :)
Great review, as always! I'm thinking of getting a motorcycle and my height/weight is similar to yours. Your review is definitely helping me with my decision - much appreciated!
I own an 2007 SV650s with the half fairing. Great bike! A couple hundred bucks in suspension, and brake upgrades make it fantastic. I carves up the twisties.
I"m 5'5" and I'm on my tip toes on both sides. I'm picking up mine later this week and hope to eventually find a way to lower it an inch without effecting the handling. Seat is way to thin to even consider taking any foam out so it'll have to be rear shock and dropping the front forks a bit. Thanks for the great review.
The US hp is 75. 2017 Suzuki SV650 Specifications Engine Type 645cc Liquid-cooled, EFI, DOHC, four-stroke, 90-degree V-Twin, 4 valves per cylinder Bore and Stroke 81.0mm x 62.6mm Compression Ratio 11.2:1 Crankshaft Horsepower (claimed) 75.1 hp @ 8,500 rpm
in europe its restricted for the A2 license (47bhp max) after 2 years with the license, you can do the A test, so you can have as much power as you want
They are dwindling everywhere. Friggen Daytona Bike Week and there were only 2 there Friday, 2 more Sat and that's IT. I talked to the Yamaha team about it, they said events like this aren't cost effective anymore, they are putting resources in to just the dealer events. Really too bad. Even this year Suzuki limited us to ONE ride a day. Harley and Indian weren't even setup. They just don't get it.
Pure idiocy. TH-cam reviews like yours put bikes on my radar I'd otherwise NEVER consider. If you can't ride, we can't watch, and thus we aren't buying...
This is the review of this bike I've been looking for. I can see what it looks like, everyone raves that it performs well. Fine, I get it. But what I could not find until now is a review by anyone who isn't the size of my 12-year old niece. I am 185cm, 90kg, and was worried this would be too small for me, but you're slightly bigger than me and it seems to be a decent fit. Me, I'm not looking for an entry-level bike. I've been riding for 25 years, have been on super bikes and am currently on my second Harley. But I am looking for a different kind of ride for scooting around town, commuting, and just a change of ride feel. I don't want to spend a lot of money, don't want a show bike, don't care about excessive power. Can't even get up to the speed limit in my city for the traffic anyway. Looks like this bike just made my shortlist!
Glad you finally rode one of these, as you are more mature than most people who do bike reviews on TH-cam. I am looking to get my first bike within the next year, and this is at the top of my list.
MurphyTheBandChild Look for a slightly used 2005-2008 SV. The new 17 model is no improvement over the 2nd gen bikes. You can even find a 2008 with ABS.
I like when they Lead rider pulling ahead you rider behind can at least have fun in pulling their bike hard. some test ride they just chilling around slowly doesn't feel like testing ride at all.
Great review. This would make a great second bike for me. It's heavier than the FZ-07. You say it feels lighter. Interesting. Is the gear change smooth? I have subscribed.
nice review. I had a 2005 V-Strom 650 so I know the engine well. V-Strom is more weighted to the back so it pops up at will really, but I also own a single cylinder 600 that has these exact characteristics.
#newrider /// I just bought a brand new 2018 SV650 (no ABS), just like the bike in the review.. Had a little bit of buyers remorse because my first street bike ever didn't have ABS but, I got over it soon.. Realized the deal I got was too good to pass up and, learning how to ride w/o ABS is gonna be good for me. Responsible w/ the throttle hand, and live in Cali...not much rain. Gonna keep it cool and calm. Can't wait to learn + ride more on the bike.
Gotta wait a whole year till I can upgrade, currently 23(uk) and been riding my 125(cb125f Honda) for years now, it’s a great commuter and get me out and about when I want to. But been wanting something with more pull for the motorway. Figured there wasn’t much point in me getting the A2 license and paying more just to ride an extra 30hp when I can just wait a year or 2 and get a 600 in a day 😱 just means I gotta wait 😂
Ok so „sitting right on top of the front wheel?“ Did you ever drive something like a duke or Mt03? Thats where you sit on top of the front wheel. Also: „Sounds like a 4 cylinder“ dude srsly? But agree with most of the rest of it.
The sv is a legendary motorcycle, atleast it was, till suzuki decided to scrap it and try the gladius, meanwhile yamaha caught up and created a better version and called it the Fz 07 squishy suspension, so the FZ 07 is cheaper and probably has better suspension.
It wheelies very easily, it also has a great engine(Or so i have heard) The sv is basically the same engine since 1999? I mean i know a lot of guys that bought the fz 07, there must a good reason
Hey there brother. 3+ years ago this vid you made was the reason I bought my SV. It’s been one of my best decisions. Still got her but with some serious mods and love her as much now as the day I drove away from the dealership. So hope this finds you well and many, many thanks👍🙏
One of the greatest motorcycles ever devised.
Damn ik this was a year ago but true it is/was i just dont think it is anymore since my friend died on one in 2017 sadly

Bought a Corbin Holeshot seat. Great seat!! Made all the difference.
Can you do 5 hour or so rides with these aftermarket seats?

It's also Euro 5 now.
Yep, first thing I did to my SV was replace the springs and fork oil. Also threw a GSXR 600 shock on. Made it feel like a much bigger bike.
Your reviews are on a whole different level. Thank you for giving us a review from the average bikers POV. Chalk full of information.
Valentino Rossi on the Burgman cracked me up...thanks for the laughs
10:45 if some one missed
Fantastic realistic review with crystal clear voice. 👍 Thumbs up, Subscribed 😎

Those are standard features of bikes with ride by wire, nothing unusual.
Bought this exact bike the other day. Freaking looove it!
I'm going to buy one in a few weeks as my first bike, I've seen just about every other review video and yours is probably the most informative. I'm a bloke about the same size so it was great to hear you were so comfortable on it. Great review :)
did u get it? also I really want one for my first bike too haha
You get it?
Great review, as always! I'm thinking of getting a motorcycle and my height/weight is similar to yours. Your review is definitely helping me with my decision - much appreciated!
i had an 04 SV650s and I regret selling that bike. so much fun on a twisty back road and so cheap to ride and maintain.
Very professional review, thank you!
BTW, it's got 70ish HP, not 45. :-)
In Europe, this bike is restricted to 45hp.
I thought that was only the A2/learner ones? The rest should be 75hp, no?
That's correct
only if A2 license. and depending on whether you have a full ticket
I own an 2007 SV650s with the half fairing. Great bike! A couple hundred bucks in suspension, and brake upgrades make it fantastic. I carves up the twisties.
3:39 What? Sounds exactly like a Ducati which is also a 90 degree L-twin. And with a sports muffler it sounds really good.
I somt get why he said it sounds like an inline 4, the sv650 sounds like a v twin , it sounds awesome , not tinny like he said, disregard what he said
For big guys like us, would you choose this over an FZ-07?
I"m 5'5" and I'm on my tip toes on both sides. I'm picking up mine later this week and hope to eventually find a way to lower it an inch without effecting the handling. I’m the same height, same problem, if you use one leg trick not too bad!!
love the reviews, keep them coming. Dig the intro music also!
You did such a professional review that I feel like going out and buying a SV650. Awesome review. Thanks.
Suzuki the most BEAUTIFUL motorcycle!!!! EVER
The US hp is 75. 2017 Suzuki SV650 Specifications
Engine Type 645cc Liquid-cooled, EFI, DOHC, four-stroke, 90-degree V-Twin, 4 valves per cylinder
Bore and Stroke 81.0mm x 62.6mm
Compression Ratio 11.2:1
Crankshaft Horsepower (claimed) 75.1 hp @ 8,500 rpm
Nice job Bryan....seems like a decent demo route to try out all the features of the bike. Ride safe.
great review and great video footage.... and Suzuki's scooter apparently don't corner very well?
Try 75hp, not 45...
In Europe, this bike is restricted to 45hp.
Hm, couldn't find any info about that. Care to share some links?
*edit: saw your comment below, I was talking about regular SV650 not learner SV650
in europe its restricted for the A2 license (47bhp max) after 2 years with the license, you can do the A test, so you can have as much power as you want
They're the same SV, one simply has a restriction in the ECU.
Not necessarily. Only if you order one like that.
great video man keep it up and you might grow fast
Remind me my Honda NT650 (best bike I ever had).
Great review! 👍 Well done
I personally love the SV650s I have. I haven't ridden a more ideal bike yet. Mostly because dealers don't allow test rides.
Only thing I think they should improve upon aesthetically is the swing arm and maybe black out the engine
Looks like a fun bike, I wish there were more demo rides available around here locally. I'd love to do more!
They are dwindling everywhere. Friggen Daytona Bike Week and there were only 2 there Friday, 2 more Sat and that's IT. TwoWheelObsession yeah that's crazy, I wonder what they're thinking.

meanwhile entry level bikes in brazil are 125cc
Same in Argentina. What a poor countries we live in. This bike is us$12.800 here. Not that affordable I d say.
You recomend this for 5.5 ft rider?
you wont be able to flat foot but its very low for this type of bike. I think you will like it .
40 bhp?
Love the sound track at the start, whats the name?
Glad you finally rode one of these, as you are more mature than most people who do bike reviews on TH-cam. I am looking to get my first bike within the next year, and this is at the top of my list.

Look for a slightly used 2005-2008 SV. The new 17 model is no improvement over the 2nd gen bikes. You can even find a 2008 with ABS.
second gen model starts at 2003 btw (K4). i have a 04' and love it!
I like when they Lead rider pulling ahead you rider behind can at least have fun in pulling their bike hard. some test ride they just chilling around slowly doesn't feel like testing ride at all.
Very informative test ride. Any chance of you test riding the Indian Springfield? Would really like your opinion. Ride safe Bryan.
Nice review dude on the scooter was doing the most :)
Great review man. Finally a review from someone that's the same height as me :D
Great review.
This would make a great second bike for me.
It's heavier than the FZ-07. You say it feels lighter. Interesting.
Is the gear change smooth?
I have subscribed.
Perfectly smooth. It's very refined all around.
Great review 👍👍
nice review. I had a 2005 V-Strom 650 so I know the engine well. V-Strom is more weighted to the back so it pops up at will really, but I also own a single cylinder 600 that has these exact characteristics.
Fantastic review sir.
weird that it feels lighter than the FZ-07, since the FZ-07 is quite a bit lighter
It's all about the geometry
Back on '02 the SV650 was right about 70 horses.
nominalvelocity it is still. the bike in the video has 75 hp.
Does the intrument panel have a gear indicator?
Ben Daulton wonder how it fits a 6'3 guy
#newrider /// I just bought a brand new 2018 SV650 (no ABS), just like the bike in the review.. Update: LOVE my bike, still ! All is well. No issues w/ it whatsoever. Amazing first bike.
nom music please
What's the white bike you're following?
A Burgman scooter
Love my 03 sv650s, if they did another sports/faired version I'd snap it up.. useable amount of power with out going crazy and excellent handling
really good bike i had the 2002 sv650s ok power parts are cheap and they been around for a long time
Nice review
Review!!! Love em. Love two
Great review ... thanks!

Never heard anyone say the SV650 is more powerful then the MT/FZ-07 before.
It is. By around 3 hp
@@bhok1971 Interesting. The MT-07 feels more powerful.
nice test
Cheers mate
I'm so getting this bike
Hey! i was at bike week!!! :D
Ok so „sitting right on top of the front wheel?“ Did you ever drive something like a duke or Mt03? Thats where you sit on top of the front wheel. Also: „Sounds like a 4 cylinder“ dude srsly? But agree with most of the rest of it.
Good review as always 👍. Camera is clear as a bell, but man, bit too much fisheye for me.
How strange, I already had this in may of last year :D
Excellent video as usual! This review would sell one of these to me. Lynn's asking if you'd buy one for her? Lol
60-70 HP
The sv is a legendary motorcycle, atleast it was, till suzuki decided to scrap it and try the gladius, meanwhile yamaha caught up and created a better version and called it the Fz 07
squishy suspension, so the FZ 07 is cheaper and probably has better suspension.
Supernova12034 FZ 07 has soft suspension as well. Typical of budget bikes in the class.
MSRP on a '17 FZ07 is $7,199/$7,499 for ABS. I picked up my '17 SV for $6,599 with ABS.
, msrp on new sv650 in my country is 7,799$. Fz 07 is 7400$ Fz is way more fun
That's a shame about the price. It's way more fun because why?
It wheelies very easily, it also has a great engine(Or so i have heard) The sv is basically the same engine since 1999? I mean i know a lot of guys that bought the fz 07, there must a good reason
👍
