Damn OS Native File Dialog is something 3ds Max cries for, in Maya the default imo is better than OS Native as you can save bookmarks/favorite folders without cluttering your daily use explorer with CG asset bookmarks.

Maya Default File Browser is super efficient if you've set up your projects properly. You can easily switch to any of the core project folders by clicking on it in the left-hand mini-window (scenes, images, sourceImages, etc..), and there is the smaller shortcut folder window you can customize right above it, so you never have to search through your whole hard drive to find what you're looking for. For the precision segment, just a bonus tip: You can also hold Ctrl while using the slider functionality to get more precision, or Ctrl+Shift for even finer precision, and it scales with the little pie icon selection as well.
