Breadfruit is from the Pacific Islands. It was brought to Jamaica by Capt. Cook to feed the slaves. It is being used in Hawaii and other Pacific islands to ferment into poi. It is very nourishing.

I lived in Barbados in the 60s next to the fishing market on Bay street now defunct. The fishermen use to roast breadfruit and fish next to the market...dip it in a bucket of seawater and feed me and my siblings. They were so nice to us.
I have a friend who didn't like breadfruit either but I told her try Yelluh Meat and she fell in love. It really is good. I'm just waiting for Christmas when they do the bowls with ham.
As a child I never liked breadfruit so chose not to try again as an adult. After seeing this, maybe I’ll give it another try. Thanks for sharing and see you next video.

Would love to have bread fruit taco. My Landlady got me loving breadfruit. Better than fries ,potatoes. I put them in stews and soups a lot. Taco sounds good. Salted fish sounds good. Looks amazing. Pig tail on wow. Smoked herring looks really good to. Great way to eat . Better than a stuffed potato for sure!! old windmill is really cool Too bad closed to be able to get `in. I lived in the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas for 15 years. Bread fruit and many other things grew there. They grew in my yard. I ate them all. Island life is the best life.
Roast,take out meat,seasoned with herbs,little breadcrumbs, shape in ball, roll very thin,Pringle thickness, cut out chips size and deep fry. Dough like texture you must get.
Oh..I lived there but did not know about this place doing these things on the breadfruit. I love yellow meat. This was the second best of Barbados that you did.
We called roasted breadfruit ulu papa. We don't add anything too it as it a side dish. Or we take out the flesh mash it up with taro or cassava mixing coconut cream/milk til it like polenta or fufu texture wrap it in a banana leaf with more coconut cream then breadfruit leaves on top of hot rocks if you want it sweet or savoury add salt or sugar called Taloke.
Your cuisine is similar to Bajan cuisine, when mashed it's called Breadfruit Coucou commonly served with Saltfish or your choice of meats or fish. Yellow or white cassava is also favorite as a meal or in pastries such as Pone. 🇧🇧🇨🇦🇧🇧🇨🇦🇧🇧
@@marlenepollard4982 thank you for the reply i actually worked with White old man Bajan man he always talk about Babados he cooked these for me Pone and Breadfruit coucou similar in some ways.. we make the sugar from coconut milk by placing it in a massive wooden bowl called Vanoa and throwing hot rocks in it too boil it till it becomes a syrup separated it you get the sugar and syrup same way we do the salt but from sea water thats how it was done traditionally.. i was working in a Kitchen of Caribben chefs at the time was awesome learning from them. Flying Fish(maloa) and Coucou. Jerk chicken,Doubles,run down...etc This was before the internet was like it was now..beautiful time.. Im sorry i ending going off on a vibe.😆

Two different fruits my friend. What you’re referring to is what Bajans call Soursop. The breadfruit in this video is known in D.R as Buen Pan I believe. They look similar on the outside but they are two different fruits.

Man burning up the breadfruit. Upon looking at the entire vid, I realize that burning the fruit will enable a good crust for their method of serving. I will recommend using Coconut oil though. The end product looks delicious!
