If you've already seen my previous video about the letters of the Bulgarian alphabet ( • Bulgarian Alphabet ), the next step is to learn how to pronounce these letters correctly. In this video, I will teach you how to read in Bulgarian using some words which you already know! These are loan words which exist also in English, so it should be easy to understand and remember them. And most importantly, it will help you get used to the Bulgarian alphabet and read any word!
This video is part of my online course on Basic Bulgarian Language which you can take on Udemy:

You are great, thank you ❤️

When people explain the r like in Bulgarian, Italian and other using a similar sounds, they don't call it "a harsher r" but it's to "roll" or "trill" the r.
I am learning become it because it look cool to write it . And can become little bit like John wick 😂😂😂
This is amazing
You are very very much Great midjya
Thanks
5:15 Sorry to nitpick, but _Ж_ doesn't quite match English _J._ The convention in English is that Cyrillic _Ж_ be transcribed as _ZH_ (or _Ž,_ but the diacritic might confuse some), e.g. _Живков_ > _Zhivkov (Živkov)_ or _Жуков_ > _Zhukov (Žukov)._ The sound of English _J,_ in turn, is best matched by the Bulgarian / pan-Cyrillic digraph _дж,_ i.e. _Janis Joplin_ > _Дженис Джоплин_ > _Dzhenis Dzhoplin (Dženis Džoplin)._
Just a friendly pointer. :) Puno panslavenskih pozdrava za moju braću i moje sestre u Bugarskoj! :)
Yes, you are absolutely right, but I find many people are not familiar with how zh is supposed to sound, so I set its equivalent to J for simplicity. In my video about the Bulgarian alphabet (th-cam.com/video/RwDs354fWts/w-d-xo.html), I explain how this sound is pronounced. Thank you for your comment! Sending back greetings to lovely Croatia :)

In bulgarian is there a "W" sound like window if yes how would you read window in bulgarian?
Yes, the Bulgarian letter corresponding to the 'w' sound is 'у', and if you want to write 'window' in Bulgarian, it would be 'уиндоу'. I hope that helps!
not exactly. it should be "w(У) short", like there is "i(И) short", half vowel, there is no such letter in bulgarian, we are using "У"vowell in such words (always from english), knowing that it is not a real vowel, like in whisky
Yes, there is a "w" sound but only for borrowed words. It is written with the letter "у" as in "уиски" (whisky), "уестърн" (western (movie genre)).
Уиндоу = prozorets.
The Bulgarian dark "L" sounds similar to "W"
My grandma knows bulgarian
OMG
This helped me so much. I feel much better now
Why I do not hear the "I" for the Word Party ?? I thought all letters are pronounced ?
Hi John, yes, all letters are pronounced. Maybe the final sound "и" (i) is not so clear in the video, but it is there. The pronunciation is the same as in English, just the r sound is different.

“Q“ BURGRAN
Yo're mispronouncing the sound Л as /w/.
