"The Mario one" .... Cmon, Tom! How could you forget the name right then! Just like Super Smash is my favorite video game, BattleCon is one of my favorite board games. It really does feel like Soul Calibur made into a board game.
I will say a flaw of indines comparing it to fighting games is it isn't fast like one. But all the characters and the gameplay does give a soul calibur vibe to me.
That's fair. I'm glad you said that. I bought Devestation of Indines because I love fighting games, especially ones with lots of characters. And Tom keeps describing it as Street Fighter turned into a game ... I feel like that's doing a big disservice to gamers because beyond the theming which is obviously supposed to directly mimic a fighting game, it doesn't feel like one when you play. You spend a while choosing one attack, then go: alright, who has priority, any start of beat effects, okay these tokens affect this, and then you do that effect, let's see if I have enough soak to prevent it, am I stunned, now I do that ................... I wanted to like this game so badly. :[
No, that's completely understandable. Without some kind of time element that simulates reaction time in fighting games, it may not feel like a fighting game to people. I just like how the characters feel and the fact that it attempts to be like a fighting game with priority and stuff. Also, besides Smash Bros, I love but am real bad at fighting games, so this works for me more, because I have bad reaction time.
Signature BOOM was especially appropriate in this review ;)

If soul calibur was played at snail-speed ...

If you're not going to explain how a game works because you have another review, how about a link to the other review in the description?
It's a Miami Dice video simply labeled Battlecon. It's from a few years ago.
"I've already done a review of BattleCON: War of Indines", but still mispronounces Indines... seriously cringing whenever he says Indines.
