Enjoy all of your content! Thank you ever so much! My '71 911 is being returned to me from the LeMay Museum, in Tacoma, WA. Been there since last Feb for the 75th Celebration of Porsche. Complete restoration of the brakes is top on the list when I have it back in my shop. By the way, I'm the second owner of this car.
@@GreasyFingersFound the link to your videos on the Pelican Parts website for Porsche. I will keep your good advice in mind when working on my '88 Carrera. Have a good weekend!
Love the videos. I've got a 1987 3.2 Carrera and next winter I plan to tackle a few of the jobs you've shown on your channel as I need to do wheel bearings, brakes, and some misc. to get it A1. Keep em coming!
Black exterior with champagne leather interior. I had a new black dash fitted as well as new leather seats this past winter for a nice refresh on the interior.
Thats how I first found the channel as well, this and M539 Restorations are two of my favourites at the moment, who knew German guys tinkering with cars would be such an enjoyable watch. 😀
Great job on explaining to us mortals what to expect before jumping into a break restoration project. I specifically love the detailed explanations and the humor in the narration (14:10 - recommend to your hairstylist - lol). You my friend are a legend, keep on the great work!
Your attention to detail is some of the best content on the internet for 911's. You have helped me fall back in love with my slightly neglected 911SC and have inspired me to tackle getting it back to its former glory and then some!!
Great video - thanks for sharing your knowledge. I’m currently doing this job on my own ‘87 but also found that the rear wheel bearings and one driveshaft were shot so that job comes first. Great idea to assemble the handbrake assembly off the car - I hadn’t thought of that and it will make it much easier
I have the same brake caliper on my 1974 Alfa Romeo they are great brakes, the biggest problem is having the hard pipe in stead of a flexible house is every time you have to take them off you have to find something to block the pipe to stop the fluid from leaking and having to bleed the system after would.
I came across your channel by chance. Your attention to details is second to none. I have a 1989 911 3.2 with 964 body kit. I will love to return it to impart bumper. I have been unlucky with with bad mechanics. Thanks for showing the break assembly 🙏👍
Right at the end… the comment about the lower caliper bolt and no way to torque it!!! That’s the exact reason why I watched this video lol. I just got my calipers off last night! Oh boy are my pistons stuck something bad, looks like it’s torch time lol
Thanks for the shout out on your video. Only one thing to do, post your new one on Pelican Parts again! Keep going. I'm watching tons of other channels as I complete my restoration. Your videos stand out from the rest.
Beautiful work. I'm doing this job myself but while disassembling one of the calipers, one of the rusty bolt heads didn't hold up and now I'm desperate trying to find these one-off bolts. Can you help me?
Any thought to cerakote clear, the plating as eventually it will wear off again? Amazing work and nice to see a fellow detail oriented 86 911 owner. This is my winter project.
Looking for your advice Johannes - I notice when you insert the new brake pads into caliper @ 12:25, you do not apply any brake anti-squeak grease or anti-seize lubricant to the back and perimeter of the pads. Is the grease/lubricant not needed in these cars? I am currently doing this project in my 83 SC, getting ready to insert new pads. Thanks!
Enjoy spur low key videos - I recently refurbished all 4 brakes on my 74 911, wish I had seen your video to show me the way as I struggled a little. Popping the pistons out is definitely a dangerous operation. Reinserting the pistons is a little tricky, getting the correct angle and the right grease is important, wonder what your guy used?
@@GreasyFingers It is a '74 Carrera, Gulf Blue with the US 2.7 ltr. with CIS. Unfortunately not a MFI version but still very lively and fun to drive. I have owned it for 35 years and since retiring I am now able to get it back in order. It sat idle for ~10 years and of course needed some love, including brakes and a new gas tan, to be roadworthy again. Your videos have been a big help, please continue!!
Great stuff. Thank you very much. Curious on a couple of ATE related points: Was plating the norm for the OEM install for all ATE or just Porsche? At some point I'll be rebuilding my ATEs on my Alfas. I've rebuilt calipers in the past on Dunlops. I'm expecting similar technology. Second point, does your plater block off the piston bore before plating? Third-I ran into your channel years back researching plating and I thought you did wonderful work-a real standard for a home garage DIY to aim for. That being said, why did you send out the calipers for plating? Spring greetings from Austin Texas
I don’t know the answers, Steve. But I’m interested myself, maybe some other viewer to comment ... Regarding DIY plating: it’s a different challenge to do screws and stuff or a calliper. I’ve always been serious about brakes.

@@GreasyFingers Thanks Greasy . I believe that there is a spacer between the shells of the caliper to allow for the vented disc. I fitted uprights from a 2.0 litre Alfa spider to my GT junior to make use of the larger brake calipers.
