My favourite parts of your videos are when you talk through your composition techniques and the visualisations
Beautiful images! Would have never thought it was your first outing with the new setup. Just proving it wasn’t the Z7 taking the beautiful photos, it was the man behind the camera.
Love your enthusiasm for life, the outdoors and photography, very inspirational and love the images, thank you.
I love your excitement! Your enthusiasm, whether it's about a location, a technique, photography in general, or even new gear, is contagious! I love that you are so much yourself and your enthusiasm is so infectious and lovely! Thank you for spreading good cheer and just loveliness in this weird world!!
Thanks a lot that's very nice of you to say!
I really couldn't say it better, my exact words!
Thanks again Henry, always something new and interesting, and always the same enthusiasm.🙂
Morning Henry! That was a really great video, thanks for taking us on a good tour of that nature reserve, and sharing some really superb images! For me personally, the primary enjoyment is being at a beautiful (and peaceful) location, and the photographs that I try and capture are more to retain a good memory of where I've been and then to share with others. As you say, the camera is just a tool, knowing what elements of a scene to capture is the real challenge.
Once again, Henry's beautiful images, love and appreciation for autumn colours, and his childlike, contagious enthusiasm are making us all just want to go out and try getting some decent photos ourselves. Thank you! 😀👍
Many thanks!
Ohhhh! So lovely!!
Another good video Henry, have a great week👍
another great video from a beautiful location it will be magical when the colours turn !! Take care man
Cheers for taking us all on what looked a beautifull location and day out with your camera Henry. You certainly looked like you were fully enjoying the time with new gear and i know what you mean by feeling child like with something different and the pleasure it gives.
Impressed with the hand held "running water" shot and how sharp it seemed to be and always fascinated how you manage capture your hand held panoramas.
Again inspired to keep getting out and practicing these techniques.
Carefull with those Ticks as believe they can be nasty if not removed correctly once they have locked on.
Thanks again.
I love your videos as well as my Olympus cameras in every way! I have never had so much personal enjoyment and connection with any other camera before, and I have been on the road with many cameras in my last forty years... Thank you so much for your pation and enthusiasm and certainly for your wonderful photographs. I'm looking forward to every new episode!
Can feel your excitement Henry, glad the new camera working for you. I have a Z7ii but back up for hikes is Z50 which at first I doubted could give the quality I wanted, but the more I go out with it and get to know it the more amazed I am and it is so lightweight. Brings back the enjoyment
The scenery was so calm and beautiful. Wonderful image!
I loved your comment about the camera taking you back to when you first fell in love with photography, that was my experience too. I switched to Olympus from Canon FF around 4 years ago and it completely reinvigorated my photography. This is not to denigrate any other brand, ultimately it's finding the one that works best for you (and I genuinely believe in this day and age there's no such thing as a bad camera), but the Olympus/OM-System just suited me to a tee.
Love the vlog too.
Great video. Watching the light on the trees change while you were talking. I love soft light...the glow of the coming sun rise
also gotta say really enjoying the longer vlogs , get so drawn in to the places your visiting keep it up
I have to admit the one camera I really love using is my Olympus OM-1 35mm slr. Yep, tis a 1970's film camera and it's a joy to use. I wanted one when I was a kid in the 70's and swore I would own one some day. That day came a few years back and I am not disappointed, it was truly worth the wait. I don't use the built in light meter as I haven't had a battery in it for ages and it's fine, it's a fully mechanical camera. I have an old Gossen Trisix selenium cell light meter that is still accurate half a century after being made and it is definietly a great experience. There's a lot to be said for having a "Batteries Not Included" day out. Just me, my OM-1 and a couple of Zuiko lenses. Bliss!
What a treat! Not only got another great video from you, but also got a happy trip down memory lane. Back in November 2019 we were staying in Avirmore for a few days, and one morning woke up to thick fog and I knew Craigellachie was where we needed to go. I took one of my favourite photos from Scotland around the spot you were by at 21:50. We then went to the top of the crag and were treated to a cloud inversion. For a couple of people from the sub-tropical Gold Coast the entire day was such a treat! Thanks for a great video Henry, and I second your plug for Aviemore and it's pubs, and the Cairngorms in general. We also stayed in Braemar and that was also wonderful, though much smaller.
Hi Henry! Another great video. It's a lovely area there, I know it well.
Great to see your transition to mft. I've always enjoyed your videos, irrespective of what camera you were using (the choice of camera is far from the most important element of photography!) but as a mft user for many years I can relate even more to your videos now. (Lumix user myself). Use the same Peak Design clip on my rucksack when walking or cycling, shoot handheld the majority of the time and general just enjoy being out and about in the countryside with my camera with me. And yes, it's great fun! 😊
i still love being out with my camera been doing photography for about 10 years now and still love going out with it and when u get some new gear no matter what it’s cost it inspires me to get out more 📷👍
PS am off work till Tuesday now looking to go to the lakes to shoot the bothy up from Honister Pass am sure you know the one 👍
I enjoyed your ramblings and enthusiasm exactly how I remember our 1to 1 ❤
Stunning images of the beautiful silver birches! Gorgeous colours 🙌👏🙌🥰🫶👍📷🥰
Some really awesome shots Henry. I switched from a larger setup to OM for landscape and wildlife a few months back. Still carry a small tripod for certain scenarios but being able to shed all the weight and still be able to print phenomenal images its a no brainer for me. Have fun out there
Thanks for great content Henry! I especially appreciate your relentless enthusiasm :).
I appreciate that! Thanks so much!! 🙏🏻
Great video Henry.... your selection of locations are always good & the pics are magnificent.... the camera system sounds interesting as your comments help understand your experience.... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😊
Off to a good start with the new camera Henry and yes I get that feeling when I go out with the camera as it represents a period of personal time and an opportunity to be creative
Thanks mate. 🙏
Loved this one Henry, very exacting on your thought processes for composition, very helpful. Beautiful area, your right it is good for the soul. When I go out in those beautiful places I have trouble capturing what I am seeing convincingly. It's videos like this that really help with the process of framing the shot. Thank you so much.
Cracking images there Henry. Loved the colours. Looks like you’re having great fun with the new camera. That’s amazing image stabilisation too. Anything that helps you leave the tripod at home is a great thing in my opinion. I really dislike the damn things 😂
Amazing captures… I loved them all… So jealous of your location…. Great job as usual…
What a lovely little early morning walk you've taken us on, thank you Henry. I have a Canon camera entry level and I absolutely love it! I only bought it 18 months ago but have taken thousands of photos, as I am fortunate enough to get out 2-3 times a week. I think of a location and go with the flow. Don't really have any expectations but rather a few ideas of what I might be looking for on the day. I subsequently have a ball, as I wander about and come home with some photos that pleasantly surprise me. You could say I'm hooked, it's so much fun!
Great video Henry it gave me a really good feeling about my own move to MFT. I use tje EM1 Mark III these days and love it. From the image stalisation, built in ND filers and the High Res shooting. Well done cant wait to see more.
Brilliant first time with the new beast , wonderful images thank you Henry.. I was just up on the Moray coast a few weeks back, loved photographing up there .
What a beautiful location and what a great video. Oh, and the photographs were good too! Cheers. Ken
What an absolute beautiful location, just my kind of place, the perfect weather just adding to it. Stunning photos too.
I like the way you avoided any fuss over full frame and mft and just got on taking great photos.
I thoroughly enjoyed that, Henry. Thank you!
My pleasure!
Beautiful ❤
Great video as always. Deffo a place to visit in the winter. Cant wait to see what the new setup produces in the Lakes 📷
Yet another lovely video - I have so many places on my list... and this added now too :) got my om5 2 months ago - still learning it - but yep - it is a little dynamo.
Another great adventure Henry 👌🏻 some great shots. This was my grandmothers favourite places to visit in Scotland 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
The photographs in this video are outrageous 👌👏
Thanks so much, the location definitely helped!!
Great video, love the images. Also glad you love the Olympus, I was close to pulling the trigger on one, in the end I chose to stick with my Fujifilm system. I have to say my experience with that system is that it is always fun. I have the X-T2 which is a few years old now, but still takes great images and is fun to use. I also have the smaller X-E4 which is such a good all rounder, great for carrying around in the streets or in the countryside.
Congratulations on your OM-5. Great video and photos. Enjoy your time with family.
Thank you!
Another very enjoyable outdoor video. Thanks.
You talked a lot about this woodland having autumn colors, but imagine it by a very misty day!
That would be cool!
Loved the rambling style of this video Henry very relaxed.
I have a Fuji xt3 and love using it. I used to have Canon slrs and just needed a change and it's worked a treat. Had it a couple of years and still love it. The sound of the shutter adds to it for me - strange I know!
Amazing video Henry I have spent some time in Aviemore and in the rothiemercus estate behind Aviemore high street. looked amazing . another outstanding video thanks Danny
Great video Henry with some cracking images. We always use Aviemore as a stop off for an night or 2 on our Scottish roadtrips. Around Loch Garten and Loch Eilein not far from the town is pretty good too.
Regarding the enjoyment of photography....absolutely! it doesn't matter what tool i am using for the job, i just live and breath it, it gets the excitement and creative juices flowing whether out in the wilderness or overcoming challenges in the studio. Thats why i specialise and shoot across a wide variety of genres and not to restricted myself as a professional photographer/ retoucher in to shoot one aspect of the industry.
Looking forward to the next one.
The silver birch photo is very pleasing to the eye. The way you’ve framed the shot is excellent 👍
Thanks a lot mate
The colour of the bracken is beautiful! What a lovely place!
yes, very nice indeed!
Henry, the images you took with the Olympus looked wonderful! Don't know if it was due to the camera, the light, the scenery, the edit...., but it will be interesting to hear your take on the new camera and what it produces for you over time. Thanks for sharing👍🏻
I've had my E-M1s for quite a while and yet I always get the feel-good feeling the minute I pick one up.
I still read the manuals and watch tutorials from time to time because there's always a little surprise feature just waiting to be discovered.
All images are beautiful.
Another awesome video Henry, love the cairngorms, but never actually looked around close to Aviemore, but certainly will next time, about your comment about shooting with the camera, I have a 90D, but to honest it would not matter which camera I had, I just love getting out with the camera and enjoying being alone, and capturing the world as I see it through the camera/lense, even with my Samsung 22 phone camera
Wonderful images Henry! I need to come back to Scotland, been there twice in the area of Loch Ness and it was stunning.
Your lucky to have that on your doorstep Henry!
Congrats on new camera and thank you for the wonderfull adventure.
The first 2 photos i do like the first one a wee bit more, focal distance brings out more detail, however the lighting on the right side and reflection of second image seemed to give a scale of the scene.
To answer Your question at 28 min, i have used my phone (Nigel gave me idea) usually on more intimate scenes, it seems to help “focus” on scene/subj.
Beautiful images as always, but ohhhhh - that little stream!
Thanks, yes, what a stream!
We stayed in Aviemore on our trip to Scotland in 2019. Lovely little town, but I wish I’d known about this nature park! Simply beautiful.
It's amazing how we see things differently as photographers. I'm constantly looking for imperfection in nature and I'd have been all over that dead silver birch trunk. Brilliant video as always.
Brilliant Henry! I‘ve experienced just the same when dumping my FF equipment and start roaming around with my OMD M5 Mark III and later on with the OM1❤
Fantastic!
Hi Henry, another grand day out and thanks for sharing. The OM5 is surely a good bit of kit, and I guess you'll be doing a lot less focus stacking than with the Z7, the OM5 having a smaller sensor. Super images once more. The image stabilisation is impressive, as indeed is your enthusiasm for your subject, keep up the good work! ( Don't forget the eye drops mate )
Glad to see your first experience with the OM-5 was good. I love my E-M1 Mark III. The lighter gear has been very freeing.
Great shots 👍 your new camera looks mint 🔥. Did you say this video was a couple weeks ago? Think there was snow forecast up on the tops in Scotland this weekend, bet you can't wait for that 👍
I feel exactly the same with my Pentax K1ii, I just love it.
Loving your woodland shots with the OM5 top class 👍
Thanks 👍 much appreciated!
My favourite ever camera was a Fuji bridge camera, went from that to Sony and just couldn’t get on with it at all so traded it in and have gone back to Fuji with the X-T5. Early days as not used it much but think it’s going to be fun again. It’s brilliant (and inspirational) to see a pro photographer using what would be classed by some as a non pro camera and getting such enjoyment and great results from it 👍
Cracking video Henry, I've had my OM5 about 3 weeks and really enjoying photography again after hauling around heavy cameras. The smaller size is great for hiking, love the image stabilization and the built in nd filters, the colours are painterly, as were your super forest images. Looking forward to more 👍
Thanks for sharing
Really nice images Henry. I remember going back to a Fuji bridge camera from a DSLR around 2010. The reason for doing so was that I'd just got a new dog and couldn't handle all the heavy gear as well. I found myself automatically 'helping' the bridge camera do what a DSLR would have wanted and as a result stopped worrying about whether or not it could take the shot. Meanwhile the dog got taken to new places and so did the much lighter weight camera. I didn't give up on DSLRs as their image quality always had a higher potential, and with a certain lens the filters could be shared. New cameras get you out and about more and that's probably the best reason to get one.
Great video Henry, I what I found as I get older is I like to travel light. I do own a dslr with several lens and tripod but recently I discovered the Panasonic Lumix fz300 Bridge camera. The camera is super light, 25-600mm, shoots raw, 4k video and 4k photo burst up 30fps, the down side is it is only 12mg file size.
Very beautiful first inmage.
Perfect photos, and with an m4/3 camera👌the man behind the camera🤘👌
I switched from Olympus to Canon FF.
I never had the same fun and emotional connection to Canon like I did to Olympus...the R6 to me is just a tool, whereas my em1mark2 was so much more, and
I am pretty sure that I will come back to Olympus one day.
Great photos, I love them, thanks for taking us out 😃
I, too, have switched to the OM system. I have the big beast EM one Mark two. It has totally replaced my Nikon D 800. I love the software features, the range of lenses, and most of all how much weight I am leaving behind!
Beautiful images, nice to see a beautiful woodland again! Love seeing the beginning of the fall colors. I was in Germany the last week, and fall was really starting off there already. The camera seems like a great one, did you sell the Z7? I'm sorry, you probably told us in the 3 hour video and I will definitely watch it (I'm about an hour in already), but I just haven't had the time to finish watching it.
Love all your videos fantastic job!
Love from Wales 😘🤗🥰👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌wonderful memories of holidays in Aviemore with my Dad fishing on the river Spey and playing chicken on the main railway line with my brother 😼oops 🙀😸it seemed fun at the time! 🙀😹
Thanks so much! 😊
Definitely get that buzz you talk about from my Fuji XPro 1. It's an 11 year old camera that I'll take anywhere, any weather, generally chuck about, and get great pictures from. What's more, after years of abuse, there's nothing that's happened to affect the quality of the pictures. Your point about just treating it as a tool is definitely part of the magic.
Fantastic video Henry :-)
After years and years of Nikon shooting I recently moved to Fuji and absolutely love it! I am however, quite envious of the built in ND filter in the OM 5 :-)
Great vid!! Great system - the Olympus pro lenses are beyond amazing, I use the 8mm 1.8 fisheye pro, the 12-40 2.8 pro and the 40-150 2.8 pro - the fisheye can be defished to use as a super wide angle lens btw😉
I love the OM5. When I got mine, I literally just received it, and headed off on a trip to Japan. Best travel camera as far as I am concerned. Only had the 12-45mm F4 PRO lens with me though, but it was perfect for a lightweight kit. I am now retired but one of my prior consultancy places was with MacDonald Hotels, and I was supposed to visit Avemore through them, but my trip got cancelled. Seeing your video, I wish I was able to go now. Sounds like I need a little trip from London to Scotland,
Many thanks for sharing this with us Henry. It never ceases to amaze me just how stunning your photos are. Can I ask how the OM-5 & 12-200 F4 lens worked as a combination? Take care, stay safe and keep adventuring.
I last visited the Cairngorms back in the late 90's, when I was working at various whisky distilleries by day, and cycling the Speyside Way in the evening and at the weekend. I recorded my adventures on a brand-new Kodak DC 215, a mighty 1Mb beast! I published the photos on my long-since-extinct cycling website and, TBH, the photos looked pretty good. Would love to make a return trip with more modern camera gear (and a modern, lightweight bike) but, alas, life seems to forever get in the way. It was great to re-live those old days through your eyes - another fantastic video. Well done!
Thanks Eddie
Yesterday I picked up my OM-5 model from 2015. It’s been sitting in my den all these years. I went bananas over how much fun it is. More simple than the latest gear, it was sheer joy to fool around with its basic features. A great camera. Many times I wonder if people fully use a camera’s capabilities before they jump to a newer model just because it is new.
But the OM-5 was only released last year!
This video came out at the perfect time. I'm looking at purchasing a new camera and I have been looking at the OM 5. The built in ND filters is just great. So good to see the images and the use of this camera 😁
I started out photography with a Nikon D7200, which is funny, because I remember, you had the same camera when I started following the channel. But I could just never really get to love using that camera. It was a brilliant piece of gear, but not intuitive at all for me. Then a couple years later I got myself a Fujifilm X-H1.. and it just got glued to my hand. It taught me to adore the process of taking an image. There's something about these retrostyled cameras that's different. Great video!
Hi Henry loving the results from the first shoot with the OM system. I’ve found I’m taking my camera out with me more now than I ever did before. I’ve re-found my enthusiasm again for my photography. Just treated myself to 5he new 180-600mm lens for my Z7II . Absolutely love it. Keep up the good work mate. Graham
Thanks Graham, glad to hear you are feeling inspired mate and that must be some lens!
@@HenryTurnerphoto it’s wonderful mate!!
Great video! As always, brilliant images too. On a side note, I've always wondered what was the point of ticks?
It's a bit of a gem, Henry, Craigellachie, and worthwhile making your way onto the top when conditions are clear. You could walk all day and not get better views.
Really nice woodland 👌👍
Welcome to my world, been shooting Olys since 2018 and enjoyed every minute of it. Get your hands on the 12-100, it's a solid lens and I do 95% of my landscape photography with it.
I too swapped my Nikon gear for an Olympus, an E-M1 and 14-150 lens. I agree wholeheartedly with you, photography is much more fun these days, because the camera lets me take the shots I want, with an absolute minimum of fuss and bother. As a fellow sucker for running water, one of my favourite places is the Linn of Dee, outside Braemar. It's easy to get to, and equally easy to lose an hour just watching and listening to the water 🙂
Brilliant video Henry lovely location great photos again just got into photography myself at 58 years old following you I have learnt a lot thanks, camera I bought was Sony 6600 nice and light for my hiking adventures.😀
That is awesome!
New camera at last (postage isn’t what it used to be). Your reflection photos seem to take on a kind of Claud Monet feel ~ absolutely stunning.
Been an OM-1 owner since it came out. Nikon is still my primary kit but really look forward to seeing how you get on with the OM-5. Cheers!
I suspect no matter what kind of camera you use, you figure out how it works and create great images all the same! I love every image you posted on this video. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much :)
Love the Video Henry, and your enthusiasm.. What happened to the Z30.. Do not forget your Eye Drops.
Calendar just arrived 👍👍
Oh quality mate, glad to hear it!! Thanks for the support
I sold all of my Canon full frame gear 18 months ago and I invested in Olympus and a mixture of Olympus and Panasonic lenses. I did it to reduce the weight and bulk l carried. As a person with mobility and health issues and it is the best move I have made. I still get awards in international exhibitions and sell prints. The quality is great and the EM1 mark 3 and EM5 mark 3 are feature filled and convenient and unobtrusive in busy areas. Lovely images as always and so much inspiration and enthusiasm.
Great video, I too shoot OM Systems and Nikon. The OM is just so much fun!
Thanks!
To think I missed this hidden gem despite staying just over the road! The Cairngorms is my favourite part of Scotland by far! Just a beautiful place. Great video Henry, love the vlog-style videos.
Glad you enjoyed it and yes I have missed it for a few years, weird really haha
I love all of Scotland for exploring and finding surprise photo locations. However, for me, it's only late October through to Easter. The insects are just too bloodthirsty vicious buggers the rest of the year. When it comes to Aviemore, it's also a good central spot for visiting distilleries - a must for me in Scotland. Some of those places are also very photogenic in a surprising and very different way.
