The devs would be insane not to add more content with constant updates. I know there’s gonna be a ton of merch they can sell in the form of plushies(etc) Adding more characters/bosses seems like a no brainer… thus being able to create more merch.
I'm currently making a sculpture of the lamb! It's so much fun to make haha! I've not painted it yet, but it's fully assembled and ready for a light bit of worshipping! XD
I love roguelikes that have a world outside of the dungeon crawling element. Moonlighter and Rogue Heroes are other examples of this! Moonlighter has you running a shop selling the things you've looted, and Rogue Heroes has you building up your village and exploring quite a big map. These extra elements supplement and expand upon the roguelike part, so you're not just doing run after run. You have something outside of the dungeons that you're making progress towards. I think many people are starting to feel burnout from the sheer quantity of roguelikes that are currently being released, many of them not being very good and not adding anything substantial that hasn't already been done, so it's nice to see roguelikes that take a different approach!
I am really surprised how none of the reviews I've seen have mentioned how BUGGY this game is!! It really could have done with another 3 or 4 months in the oven, or maybe even a early access phase - from broken quest progression (requiring you to abandon a save) through to followers refusing to tend mines and lumber yards, and other systems not quite working together in the way that was probably intended, this really feels like a pretty rough release....
I agree a buggy mess with game breaking glitches. I like the game very rare to find dark theme, farming and base managing sim. But total mess, hang on loading and kept getting crashes which forces the Switch to exit the game very annoying after a run very laggy in Anchordeep and SilkCradle. I managed to get third witness eye just I was about to leave thd game sudden exit. I won't play again till the devs patch the game. Such a shame I really enjoyed playing.
@@Dartanyoogles Every console version only lets your 6 oldest members join the sermon. That's a huge bug that has major gameplay implications. Always amazing how many fools there are, claiming they don't have any bugs. And if you didn't even notice something huge like that I'm sure you haven't noticed at least 20 other bugs either.
@@Deadman6 Ive had the same problem. It seems like the further into the game I get the frame rate and performance is getting worse. But I've already failed two Quest where it wanted you to like marry a follower but because only six show up in the church I couldn't complete the quest because they wouldn't be on the list.
Super difficult to catch all the bugs that everyone gets - sometimes you flat out just don’t notice some things. I obviously mentioned a few and I have since had an issue where the fishing stopped working completely. Having spoken to the devs at least the patch list is both LARGE and on the way. Mark
I’ve been playing this game the last few hours and I must admit I’m enjoying it a lot. The only irk for me is the slight frame rate issues here and there but I’m sure that will be patched. Love this game so far!

As a dev, working with unity on Switch I can gurantee you, that Unity is incredible optimized on the platform and the problems games suffer from are 100% on the developer.

@@keiichitw I would opt for a different version, if you really wanna play it. The game is punishing enough regarding the rouge like part cause of the steep camera angle. So having 30 frames less to react to incoming projectiles isn't making the game more fun. So yes, I would stay away from the switch version and go for the pc version, because that version gets daily patches currently

I know it's asking a lot, but I'd really like to see this game get the Dead Cells treatment. As in, consistent content updates. More bosses, more enemies, more environments, weapons, base features/customisation, game modes etc. Anything to make it more replayable would also be great! Keeping my eyes on this one 👀 thanks!
I got this on my switch and there's some pretty bad input lag that makes it feel kinda gross to control. It's especially a problem during the combat. Switching between docked and handheld didn't seem to help either.

I just re-watched your review of Moonlighter. I bought that game on Switch but couldn't get into it. I gave it one more chance because it was on sale on Steam for under $5. I started it on Steam Deck. I was really enjoying the music like you guys pointed out. I gave it a couple hours and I LOVE it now! Really Excellent! I am hoping for similar feelings from Cult of the Lamb. I was really impressed with the demo :)
my problem with the game is the progression feels so rigid. i feel like games need to obfuscate their progression system to some extent so it's not so obvious that you are just playing a "watch the number go up" game but from what I saw of the game it was a very strict sword->better sword -> even better sword type progression for the items. but that was just my experience. hopefully it keeps being fun for you.

I bought this game just the other day, and I just saw this review video on my feed. I am glad there are three difficulty settings, as I am absolutely rubbish at fast paced games like this, so it's set to easy for me! I love the music in this game, and I think the art style is super fun. The first time I tried to play through the intro, it glitched on me, and I couldn't see anything that was happening on the screen, but the sound effects were still going. I just quit the game and restarted it, and all was fine. I used 10% discount code in the card shop to get the game a little more cheaply, so that was nice!
I watch many reviews of this game and I really want to believe it's a perfect masterpiece. So, I'm waiting for patches and free updates until this game lives up to the hype. Until then, my dreams of starting a cult will be on hold.

The developers stated on twitter that they will make more plushies, but thus far they only showed up along with the full special edition game. Man really enjoying it but I’ve had a huge issue where doing the fire dance ritual freezes my character and I can never leave the temple without reloading.
Also - thanks for the announcement at the start about why, when and how you used the PC footage for your review - that's brilliant! The way I describe Cult of the Lamb is like the OG Theme Park meets Happy Tree Friends with some questing and looting and sacrificing.
Be warned that the PC version has several game breaking bugs right now. Stuff ranging from softlocks to glitches that make you auto fail quests and even one that prevents any progress past tier 3 upgrades
The switch version has a few game breaking bugs as well. If you call a sermon, only 6 followers can enter the church. You can get missions from your followers to marry them/sacrifice them, etc. However, if they're not in the 6 that enter the church, you just fail the mission. If you fail or decline the quest, you immediately lose 35 faith, so its not easy to ignore
@@CubicFoxxx I have figured out that if you completely ignore them when they walk up to you for a request there is no penalty. Just walk away or leave the area and you won't lose any faith.
I like the art style of this game, and judging by the review I'd enjoy the gameplay loop. However, I'm very disappointed that they couldn't get the game to run at 60fps on Switch. I also find that it's a bit pricey compared to other games in the genre. I think this will be of great value when it has a bit of a sale. Great in-depth review SwitchUp!
@@wrydstepbr0_0 I think that's pricey given that the Switch version is inferior to other platforms. There is a huge difference between 30fps and 60fps, particularly in an action oriented roguelike. The length of the game, the graphics, the sound, appear to be on par across platforms, but asking the same price across those platforms when one version is objectively worse than the others, doesn't sit right with me. I'm sure it's a decent game, but I'll wait for it to go on sale on the eshop because of the objective difference between this and all the other platform versions.
Been playing it all afternoon. Great game and pretty much what I want from a Rouge-lite Combat is basically Sword of Ditto where you figure out the knockback of enemies to combo. It never becomes too stale for me. Then outside of the combat, I get to make a civilization how I want it. Very fun.
I want this game so much, though don't really care for battling in my games much anymore. I'm glad there's an easy mode at least, but hear of just awful bugs, glitches, etc so am not sure if I want to grab it just yet.
I preordered it for my switch oled and just started playing it. Sadly the frame rate issue is still there ans on top of that the graphics are literally rough around the edges; especially during the scenes with the one who waits (it has this awful scratchy look around it like I’m playing on an old tv). I really hope they patch this up cause I want to play at the proper speed.
The twitch integration for cult of the lamb is second to none. I'll be picking up a physical edition for switch on this one. I did pre-order it on xbox for launch though 🥰
i saw this game on an indie sale in switch and have been curious about this for quite some time now so this review helped! especially the text size up option. roguelikes is a genre i have yet to see if i enjoy, but this game just looks really cute and has other elements aside from the dungeons that has me leaning toward it a bit. this kind of got me interested on hades too, so ill see how that goes.
I came to look for reviews to see if anyone was getting bad freezes and crashes as well on Switch. is this just bad luck on my part or bugs in the Switch port? I keep having to redo progress cause of the crashes and softlocks, is there any way to mitigate these or is it just a case of wait and see if they patch up the loose ends?
Ive bought this game on PC and on Switch (for portability) I am really enjoying it so far and have only got about 2 hours in. Looking forward to getting further in

Unfortunately cult of the lamb runs at 30 fps on switch docked and undocked, the devs said they are trying to fix this issue. But as of right now it has not been resolved
The appearance of the game works well on the switch oled. I'm only a few hours in but so far it's a really interesting game. It's as if all the animal crossing characters went into hades and decided to poop everywhere .
I must say that I really like this game, to me it’s kinda a mix between Death’s Door and Stardew Valley with some Hollow Kinght esc. characters and sound. And I for one like this a lot more than Hades. This feels much more relaxing and charming, but hey maybe that’s just me 🤷🏻♂️😺
I do like a roguelike that does have some carry over between runs so there is a sense of progression and this definitely has that... The whole town outside of the runs looks good..
good review but incomplete you are avoiding the bad stuff un pc the game runs smooth in switch it’s just a mess an extremely laggy mess and a lot of bugs a lot of times the game just stop working and you need to restart the game or it just don’t work properly or starts with massive lag spikes without giving spoilers in the second big boss battle there was so much going on that it was unplayable it just keeps freezing and a lot of times i make the rituals take all my stuff freezes forcing me to restart the game losing my items but not gaining any benefit I just end buying it in pc and the difference is HUGE just DON’T buy it on switch
Absolutely love this game. Just noticed though, is Audio 18 9:35 or 16 10:22 out of 20 XD (for me it's definitely the former if not 20/20, it's soo good)

Seems like people have liked this game overall including myself and for a fairly linear rogue like management sim Hybrid I’m loving it. I have PLENTY of unending Rogue Like games that I’ve played for hundreds of hours. One I could be done with in 15-20 hours (until DLC) is a nice pallet cleanser. I just want to know what the devs have planned in the Roadmap option on the Home Screen. On a tangent it’s nice they give you 3 save files; just like Isaac but not all games or Rogue Likes give multiple files. I love this game though it won’t be in my top 5 this year it will be in the top 10 or 15 for sure. Great game. If on the fence wait for a sale but if you want to play now I think having the hype of the community playing it along with playing it before the DLC comes out will make it so players appreciate the DLC & Updates (hopefully) whenever they drop.
This game looks awesome, but I can't figure out why I haven't seen ANYONE compare the art style to Don't Starve??? Not a criticism, it just blows my mind how similar they look and I haven't heard anyone make the comparison.

Switch has some crazy soft locks and bugs as well. There’s been invisible enemies and bosses that just crack you
@@CubicFoxxx I have figured out that if you completely ignore them when they walk up to you for a request there is no penalty. Just walk away or leave the area and you won't lose any faith.

I like the art style of this game, and judging by the review I'd enjoy the gameplay loop. However, I'm very disappointed that they couldn't get the game to run at 60fps on Switch. I also find that it's a bit pricey compared to other games in the genre. I think this will be of great value when it has a bit of a sale. Great in-depth review SwitchUp!

I think that's pricey given that the Switch version is inferior to other platforms. There is a huge difference between 30fps and 60fps, particularly in an action oriented roguelike. The length of the game, the graphics, the sound, appear to be on par across platforms, but asking the same price across those platforms when one version is objectively worse than the others, doesn't sit right with me. I'm sure it's a decent game, but I'll wait for it to go on sale on the eshop because of the objective difference between this and all the other platform versions.

Been playing it all afternoon. Great game and pretty much what I want from a Rouge-lite
Combat is basically Sword of Ditto where you figure out the knockback of enemies to combo. It never becomes too stale for me. Then outside of the combat, I get to make a civilization how I want it.

I want this game so much, though don't really care for battling in my games much anymore. I'm glad there's an easy mode at least, but hear of just awful bugs, glitches, etc so am not sure if I want to grab it just yet.

I preordered it for my switch oled and just started playing it. Sadly the frame rate issue is still there ans on top of that the graphics are literally rough around the edges; especially during the scenes with the one who waits (it has this awful scratchy look around it like I’m playing on an old tv). I really hope they patch this up cause I want to play at the proper speed.

The twitch integration for cult of the lamb is second to none. I'll be picking up a physical edition for switch on this one. I did pre-order it on xbox for launch though 🥰

i saw this game on an indie sale in switch and have been curious about this for quite some time now so this review helped! especially the text size up option. roguelikes is a genre i have yet to see if i enjoy, but this game just looks really cute and has other elements aside from the dungeons that has me leaning toward it a bit. this kind of got me interested on hades too, so ill see how that goes.
Watching this video confirmed that this is my type of game but I’m only buying it if it goes on a good sale

I came to look for reviews to see if anyone was getting bad freezes and crashes as well on Switch. is this just bad luck on my part or bugs in the Switch port?
I keep having to redo progress cause of the crashes and softlocks, is there any way to mitigate these or is it just a case of wait and see if they patch up the loose ends?

Ive bought this game on PC and on Switch (for portability) I am really enjoying it so far and have only got about 2 hours in. Looking forward to getting further in
The switch version is a bit disappointing given the 30fps lock and graphics downgrade on an otherwise simplistic art style
Really interested in this game, but I'm torn whether to go for Switch or PC.
The gameplay looks like it would be amazing in handheld, but it's cheaper on PC and with the performance not being perfect on Switch, PC might be the better option.

Unfortunately cult of the lamb runs at 30 fps on switch docked and undocked, the devs said they are trying to fix this issue. But as of right now it has not been resolved
The appearance of the game works well on the switch oled. I'm only a few hours in but so far it's a really interesting game. It's as if all the animal crossing characters went into hades and decided to poop everywhere .
I must say that I really like this game, to me it’s kinda a mix between Death’s Door and Stardew Valley with some Hollow Kinght esc. characters and sound. And I for one like this a lot more than Hades. This feels much more relaxing and charming, but hey maybe that’s just me 🤷🏻♂️😺

I do like a roguelike that does have some carry over between runs so there is a sense of progression and this definitely has that... The whole town outside of the runs looks good..

good review but incomplete you are avoiding the bad stuff un pc the game runs smooth in switch it’s just a mess an extremely laggy mess and a lot of bugs a lot of times the game just stop working and you need to restart the game or it just don’t work properly or starts with massive lag spikes without giving spoilers in the second big boss battle there was so much going on that it was unplayable it just keeps freezing and a lot of times i make the rituals take all my stuff freezes forcing me to restart the game losing my items but not gaining any benefit I just end buying it in pc and the difference is HUGE just DON’T buy it on switch

It's a shame it's only 30 FPS, but it's also my GOTY so far.

On the switch they have 4 difficulties the last one is extra hard and damn those boss fights are pretty hard to beat in that mode
I think we need some sprach bubbles to see what our cult are saying, also some armour and some permanent weapons would be nice. Also a bow and arrow
When doing a ritual where the lamb has to move It Bugs and i have to restart the Game. Someone with the same problem?

Seems like people have liked this game overall including myself and for a fairly linear rogue like management sim
Hybrid I’m loving it. I have PLENTY of unending Rogue Like games that I’ve played for hundreds of hours. One I could be done with in 15-20 hours (until DLC) is a nice pallet cleanser. I just want to know what the devs have planned in the Roadmap option on the Home Screen. On a tangent it’s nice they give you 3 save files; just like Isaac but not all games or Rogue Likes give multiple files. I love this game though it won’t be in my top 5 this year it will be in the top 10 or 15 for sure. Great game. If on the fence wait for a sale but if you want to play now I think having the hype of the community playing it along with playing it before the DLC comes out will make it so players appreciate the DLC & Updates (hopefully) whenever they drop.

The second door can be opened before the first boss is defeated, as long as you have enough followers. Wouldn't recommend it though.
