I don't get how everyone here thinks that Jack figures out Leo is the rat in this scene? I always interpreted it as Leo fools him here by responding with aggression rather than fear. Anyone agree?

bragano9 of course. Otherwise he'd end up in the fackin maaarsh. Whoever formed the opinion that Frank knew Will was a rat and just kept him in the crew to just see what happens is not fit for criminal enterprise.

100% man. Why would his lawyer give his insurance policy (tapes) to Bill if he figured he was the rat. He tested bill more than anyone else. He was the new guy. After he had that fake job in Gloucester he called Collin and asked him, to see if his disinformation made it through on his end. Which would have pointed to Bill being the rat. "It ain't Bill. No way, he says." It's funny, cause both sides used the same tactics to try and flush the rat out

For some fucked up reason the idiotic act of dropping his gun exactly at the moment is SO much more int intimidating than just pulling it out point blank. Fuck.

I just dont see how in real life a mob guy at the bottom get to live after saying that. This kind of illegal organization where a bad decision leads to jail or death can only work through compete respect to the boss. He should have been whacked on the spot or just a little after.

I confess I had some trouble figuring out this scene. He comes up with the gun...I keep wondering if it was DiCaprio's, or if Frank was impressed enough that he dropped it accidentally. They way he points it at Will and then holds it up, it almost suggests "I've got your gun now sonny Jim." Or it might be "I'm the one holding the gun, stupid."
Its a strange line: "You got something you wanna ask me?" Thought it was Frank was interrogating Will. Why would he have a question? The whole conversation is a little convoluted. Maybe its regional dialect. Out in the West, we don't normally use the phrase "Give them all up to the Almighty". I understand what it means, but the context here is a bit unclear.
Don't get me wrong...its very compelling.

I'll do my best to explain but at this point in the movie Leo's character has been through a lot as an undercover cop inside the gang, led by Jack Nicholson's character. So much that it's taking a tole on Leo's mental health to the point that he's seeing no difference in murdering regardless if he's a cop, a criminal working under Nicholson, or as an average working man.
The line is also a thematic reference from the beginning of the movie where Jack Nicholson tells a young Matt Damon "When I was your age they would say we could become cops or criminals. Today what I'm saying is this. When you're facing a loaded gun, what's the difference?"
      Hope this answers your question.
