"if it's loud coming up, turn it up. If it's loud going down, turn it down". Simple, succinct and helpful. After struggling to get this thing to work, you finally gave me the info I needed without all the uses car salesman theatrics. Thanks! Gave you a follow and a thumbs up!
I like the 6" coil and use it the most. It is fun finding tiny gold with it. I spend a lot of time on the side of steep hills and into really tight rocky areas, so the small coil is great for getting into those narrow nooks and crannies. The down side to the 6" is that you lose depth and area coverage. When I want to cover a larger area or looking for deeper targets, I use my Whites GMT with a 10" or the Minleab GPX5000 with a 15". Mostly however, the areas I hunt, the 6" GBll, is my choice.
Before it was fenced off my crew and I (1979-USMC) would go into the Tumco mines all the time. We found a noose made of wire at the bottom one one. Later we discovered it was a plant to keep people out, it worked! Last time I was there, 2000 time frame, I wanted to show my GF the area but it was completely blocked off.
The Gold Bug Pro, operates at a much lower frequency than the GB ll, therefore it isn't as sensitive to smaller nuggets. The Pro, is a little easier to use, to start with though. The GBll takes a little time to learn to find those tiny specks. For a person wanting a point and shoot machine with decent results, the Gold Bub Pro does the job. Another machine to consider if you are looking for somehthing really easy to use and still have great sensitivity to small nuggets is the Whites GMT
on the bottom of the sighn it says no excavation or removel of land at the sites that are historical does that include the area you were metal detecting or is it just to the cabin sites or what?
We are actually on the outside of the protected area. We are just along the south west edge of the townsite... I think the sign is refering to people digging up relics, old equipment or historic items.. but just to be safe, I dont propsect in the historic site.

Awesome detector. A must-have for any prospector for checking their drywasher tailings and many other uses.

Wath is the best coil for you, 6" or 10"
Has anyone crushed a hot rock to see if there’s possibly any gold inside?
