I developed tinnitus just over a year ago, and it was 100% due to stress. I found your channel and through that found the Quieten app. Your channel and that app was the help I desperately needed as I was in SEVERE tinnitus distress and didn't know where to turn or what to do. As I did more self care and focused on calming down my nervous system the sound decreased and I slowly started to habituate. So thank you all for the work you are doing! It really is helping people.

@@kevinmutch9350 the volume of it definitely has decreased compared to when it started. It was absolutely terrible and all consuming in the beginning. Believe me, it does get better and over time your brain does start ignoring it. I cannot emphasize importance of sound therapy and calming down your nervous system.
Ben Thompson you gave me hope, knowledge and the information and tools to address my Tinnitus. I went to the doctors and undertook all the testing nothing could be done. The ENT said I was lucky I lived in Australia and get on with it. I had no where to go and ended up going down hill I got to 48 kilos and realised I was on my own. Even though I tried to explain my Tinnitus no body could give me any information. I could move my head and stop the Tinnitus at night so I could go to sleep as soon as I started moving and walking it would come back. High pitched and a regular pattern . I followed you on you tube practiced and absorbed all the information you had to offer. I found Sound Therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy mindfulness. It was hard work but I was consistent everyday and pushed through those dark days often putting on your you tube to get reassurance . The combination of all these things have reduced my stress levels by a lot, even in everyday life. The Tinnitus has reduced in sound I know have re engaged in life the Tinnitus it’s still there But I can live with it my only fear is if it comes back as bad. The informative videos are great to watch I never feel alone anymore with my Tinnitus thank you for being so dedicated. I’m listening to my sound therapy as I’m writing this comment
Hi password53629, thank you for the comment. We are glad to know that our videos have helped you. Enjoy exploring our other TH-cam videos, as well as blog articles on our Treble Health website.
Thank you for this interview, my Tinnitus started almost 8 months ago and I started sound treatment 6 months ago and has reduced the sound around 65% and now I can say that once again I have my life back, but also as you and the doctor say in the video, this sickness make a stop on my life and I started considering things that I took for granted and one of those was mind health and how to manage the stress and I am now sure that this also contribute in a big way on the good recovery that I have.
This is one of the best educational podcasts I've seen on this channel. Using the four s's of tinnitus to give it a framework, really facilitates a clear understanding of how important every piece is to the whole of habituation. Stress reduction through meditation and exercise has helped me greatly, and I was pleased to see a discussion of how important it is to recognize stress' negative impact and to work actively to minimize it. Well done, Dr. Tracy and Dr. Ben.
I have tinnitus with hyperacusis. Clanging dishes and loud voices, mostly bother me. Stress is a definite factor in my tinnitus. It's a catch 22 situation. The more my tinnitus acts up, the more stressed I get. The more stress, the more the tinnitus increases, etc, etc... I am starting message therapy this week to help with the stress, and I've been using an app for sound therapy and night. Sound therapy and tinnitus retraining therapy seem to be hard to find in my area. Everyone wants to sell me hearing aids, which I understand, but some CBT and stress relief would be nice.
My sound sensitivity/reactivity has never gotten better after two years suffering from it. My audiologist sold me BTE sound generators/hearing aids & told me that it treats both sound sensitivity & tinnitus at same time. Well no, it did not work out that way for me. I still use sound therapy every day to help me sleep & for certain time throughout the day but sometimes I have to shut it off bc it aggravates my reactive tinnitus & sometimes it's just better to not have sound therapy at all.
For me, tinnitus is related to how well I sleep. A good night's sleep and I don't have it. I have to focus on my breathing and make sure I take deep breaths, nostrils clear, for a good twenty minutes before sleep. That seems to help.
I love Sound Oasis's Tinnitus Therapy Pro app. I just play it through my phones speakers. It runs off and on, throughout my day. I mostly use the pink noise. The app has a 12 band EQ, which allows me to boost the strongest frequencies, while leaving the rest alone. I boost 1k, 3k, and 6k +6dB. My hearing loss begins at around 8k.
If I turn my head left, right, up or down, my tinnitus increases. Every clenching chew on food, my tinnitus increases. If I open my mouth wide, my tinnitus increases. When I'm in the gym, every rep with a weight causes my tinnitus to increase from contracting with tension going through my neck. I'm 6 months in now, I've tried physio, chiropractor and osteopathy, yet still ringing.
I have tinnitus for more than5years.What helped me decrease the ringing of the ear is listening to music at might before sleeping. In this way I sleep 6-8 hours. During day time, I concentrate on my job. A a result, I do not hear the disturbing sound during day time.
A while back you posted a video about Pete Townshend, and I am a musician and singer with tinnitus. I am wondering exactly what it is that he used to help with his tinnitus? Was it a hearing aid, or actually an in ear monitor which I have heard there are some musicians who like to use iems. I am primarily an acoustic guitar player who never approached the decibels that the WHO did, so its hard for me to know if this was an actual cause.

Ben, I've subscribed to your channel a long time ago and like you're doing but I don't like your catchy titles, it has the reverse effect on me. You don't need to do that to get more viewers. I've been feeling that way for a while but never commented. Tinnitus is serous condition, there is no cure, there is no stopping period.
Hi Ben, still waiting on a Zoom meeting that didn’t happen 5 days ago. Need the possibility of sound therapy. I think I know what will help! Please reply and assist.
Q1: I am using the sound devices for masking as recommended by my audiologist (most likely the same stugg you use). I experience a tremendous spike after using the maskers for 5+ hours. What is your take on this? Should I continue using them? Q2: I have T on a 2-4 level (most of the time I don’t hear it, but when it’s silent it’s there). Do you believe the sound devices can reduce this to a lower level or even 0? Thanks a billion.

My left ear went really quiet earlier and screeched loudly then faded back to normal. Is that a regular/normal thing to happen? Scared me! My T is bad enough without that shit scaring me 😢

How do you maintain focus with the tinnitus? What is the nature of your job?
